So after replacing 1 ECU and the issue of non start getting sorted (temporarily) My mechanic has managed to get the car started and stay running however a slight movement of the ECU and the car switches off. Been diagnosed as a few faulty pics in the end of the plug that goes into the ECU. So I was wondering are these pins available to buy from anywhere ? OR does anyone have a set of ECU Plugs for a N/a Manual Cheers
-
Mechanic checked it out and said no signal to map sensor hence idling high and running quite rich. !st ECU wouldnt start the car 2nd does but with issues. I'd possibly be interested in buying the NA Manual ECU off you however just going to see if I get hold of anyone to check the wiring before buying. Will PM you

I'm in a similar situation with an NA Manual. Car wouldnt start after being stood a while. Diagnosed as ECU. Got a 2nd hand replacement £150 delivered (seen some sell for £100 and some asking £250..!!) Anyway replacement ECU fitted car started but not running right. Idles at 2k rpm ish. Misfire etc.. If te ecu is in its place the car wont start. If hold it vertically the car starts. Had all wiring checked out and it seems ok and prblem coming back to a faulty (used) ECU. Apparently not sending a signal to the MAP sensor either.

Considering a fairly stock 1994 N/A Manual 60k miles with good service history sold today for £10k at an auction (plus fees no doubt - not sure if buyer was from abroad or UK) i'd say its a win win for current supra owners as prices are clearly still appreciating !

Supra N/A No Spark and No power to fuel pump - HELP
Phil-M replied to Phil-M's topic in mkiv Technical
Had a mechanic look over it and he seems to think its the ECU. Took the ignitors off and fitted to one of his customers cars and they started up. Swapped with mine and it didn't start up. Unfortunately the customer has taken his car back and is unable to come back for a couple of weeks. Anyone have one for sale for a manual N/A MkIV -
Supra N/A No Spark and No power to fuel pump - HELP
Phil-M replied to Phil-M's topic in mkiv Technical
HI, I did have a look at that (as my MR2 had similar issues many moons ago) it was slightly corroded so I gave it a clean with some sand paper and it looked OK to be honest but still won't fire up (on the drivers side turret with a lead going to the distributor). Is it possible to check if its working or not? My MR2 had an issue with the ignitor as well but it used to start but misfire.. -
Hi all I have my friends Supra Na thats been stood a couple of years and now won't start. Engine turns but doesn't fire up. I put a live to fuel pump direct and I can hear it work however the plug to the pump isn't showing and power. Also took a lead / plug out and no spark.. It is fitted with an aftermarket alarm but that seems to be working OK (When it immobilses the car doesn't turn once switched off it turns over OK) Any ideas anyone? I'm not very mechanically minded however can do basic checks etc..

Cj - if i was to go with a jspec would you take a rev3 mr2 turbo in p/x..value approx 4k - just weighing up my options atm...
-
i have enquired about 3 iuk supra's today and all have said the service intervals between each service IS 9000 miles..... anyway if i can get a good decent spec j-spec with history in black then that may be the answer however i'll have to see if the wife can get insured at 22 yrs old anyway spoke to the chap selling the black one and it sounds a good genuine car and he knows of this forum saying he has sold a few to club members uk cars - only problem for me is its a good 2 1/2 hours drive and he's not wanting to p/x with my mr2 as he has had people interested for cash so i'll see what happens. Cheers for the help peeps p.s. there is a silver one on ebay also, a manual with mods but think he's after around 9500 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UK-Toyota-Supra-twin-turbo-six-speed-manual_W0QQitemZ230038204401QQihZ013QQcategoryZ18290QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

looking into it so j-spec could be an option but then i'm spoiled for choice

what sort of costs are involved doing a single coversion properly..? cant buy one already done as i can t afford to buy one (sen them going from 12-15k)or get insured on a supra with mods due to having 6 points on my licence and getting the wife insured as she will also be driving it for some months...
-
just toying with the idea of going single - if i do buy it, it will remain standard for a good few months as i need to get the wife insured on it - I will have 5 years no claims in May '07 - and then the modding will begin (am saving for the mods - but want a similar spec as the uk one that is currently in the for sale section)
-
Right - have come across this car on ebay of all places - seems good in the pics - has done very high miles - have e-mailed asking for a p/x on my mr2 but what do you mkiv boffins reckon - Is it good value for the car..? Planning on keeping it stock for a few months and them possibly going for a single turbo conversion..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/96-N-TOYOTA-SUPRA-3-0-TWIN-TURBO-UK-CAR-AUTO-1-OWNER_W0QQitemZ280038764726QQihZ018QQcategoryZ18290QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks for all the help - much appreciated.

I dont think i would be frightened of high miles personally as long as the history is good, and the car sounds and drives like it should - Oh and the price reflects the mileage A high mileage uk should be ok (and cheap) and then i could always go single ifi get bored with the twin turbo's. So the savings i make on buying a high mileage uk i can use towards going single as and when i want.. that make any sense
-
I hear what you are saying Cj - however in 'some' cases it is hard to warrant GENUINE miles on some imports as i found out when looking for an MR2 - I'm sure the same goes for the Supra's.... However i know some cars have no difference even with high miles - My father has a Y reg Golf Diesel currently sitting on 207k and it drives fine with absolutely nothing wrong with it whatsoever - even the interior looks as new although he has changed the drivers side floor mat several times

it sure would scare any would-be thief trying to get into your home.... Is it the same as that dog in the film turner and hooch starring Tom Hanks...?
-
From what i've been reading the supra's are easily good for 120/130k providing they have been serviced regularly....... What I want to ask is at what mileage would you say is too high to buy... I remember when looking for an MR2 (was going for a uk one originally but ended up with a turbo) I went to see a few that had covered 150k that seemed straight enough and drove fine but some were not so good... How good is a supra for high mileage - are the seats/bolsters of a good quality that dont rip, or do they? Engine capable of high mileage? Who has a high mileage Uk Supra and have you had any major issues with them...? Reason I ask is just seen a silver UK done 159k on it on the autotrader for just shy of 7k. Cheers p.s. sorry for the million and one questions but just want to make sure I get a decent one and not a shodder...!

I have a toad Ai606 on my MR2 and its never chirped....
