Hi I now have seperated the lenses etc. How do the new lenses fit on? I have all the parts that it says i need except the black surrounding. Do you have to cut the old lense out and use that black surround? If so how do you cut it out so it looks tidy? Any help would be appreciated Thanks

I have been using a heat gun, makes it very hot but still nothing.

Hello can anyone help? I am trying to change the old crappy jap lenses over for the nice shiny new ones. I have followed the instructions and can not get the old lense off. I know it says to be patient but 1 hour later, pulling, banging and whacking it is still on there as strong as it was when i started. What have people done to get the lense off? Is there anyone in Wisbech, Cambs that may be able to assist me?

Standard na gearbox if anyone wants otherwise its being thrown away.

How much for a good clean carpet, and the dash panels? Cheers

na gearbox for sale. Not sure how much it is worth so will take offers. Reason for sale is converted to a TT. May be other na bits for sale as well. Gearbox has done about 80000 miles.

Just to update everyone. I was towing the car and Greg from Turbofit was right, the car was locking up in the gears. It would not go back down. So it is being booked in for them to hopefully finish the job in June.
-
The guy at turbofit said that i need abs as the gearbox has a sensor which enables the car to decide what gear should be used??? And also i need to join 27 wires together to stop the gearbox from locking???
-
I have not tried it is something that i have been told by Turbofit and he seems like avery helpful guy, im just not sure how much needs doing as other people i have spoken to have just done the swap and had no problems whatsoever. The gearbox needs a sensor to make it choose the right gear apparently otherwise it will jump all over the place. Really not sure what to make of all of it....
-
The engine has been swapped from a N/A to a tt. I have been advised that the gearbox will not work properly as i do not have ABS. It wont know what gear to be in. The gearbox uses a sensor from the abs to decide what gear the car should be in, what are peoples suggestions??????? Do i need to fit abs or can can it be tricked with just the ecu???? They also said that the car may drive but then the rear wheels will lock up what are peoples suggestions????? What have other people done to solve this??? Also 27 wires need joing under the passenger side of the dash to help trick the gearbox, is this true and if so how easy is it. I have not tried driving the car as i dont want to cause damage to the car or kill myself with the rear wheels locking but the engine does run fine. Thanks for any help.

I would imagine the gearbox would take the tt normal bhp depending on the condition of your gearbox. I would'nt try and put more than stock power through the na manual though. BUt i am no expert, its only what research i have done.
-
All the engines are the same, it is soley down to the ecu that you get with the engine. The na gearbox will go straight to the engine if its a manual but obviously you have to watch the power outout. You wont be able to tune the tt that much as the na wont take as higher power as the tt gearbox.

Yes it was, slight issue with the wiring to start with but spoke with turbo fit and they sorted it out over the phone. I am waiting to see if i have to do any work on the gearbox. There is apparently a 50% chance that i will but i will wait and see. I am just waiting for the top radiator hose to arrive then i will test the car out. The car has had the tt autobox put in which runs electronically where as the na runs via a cable. Hence there may be a chance that the car will get stuck in third and stall, but hoopefully will drive it soon and then i can let you know.
-
The car now works. I spoke with someone at Turbofit very helpful. I joined one to many wires, so i know am the owner of a TT. Think i need to do something with the gearbox though.

Help needed. My friend and i are doing a na to tt converion. The tt engine has gone straight in an everything fits fine. The garage who i brought the engine of said that the ABS and traction control unit does not need to be plugged in any where. Is this true, the engine currently will not start and i think it is this part of the wiring loom that is the problem. Any suggestions. Any way of by passing the ABS and traction control unit to make the engine go?

I had a n/a engine and as some of you now it went pop. I have sourced a tt engine that a friend is going to fit for me. My question is that i want to put a bov on. It is a UK tt engine. I have read that because of the maf (possibly) that bov are not very good as it confuses the engine with fuel mixtures. Can i have some advice at to what to do and what bov will fit the car. Thanks for any help.

I worked out their labour should only be about £600 but whether they are covering for any mishaps i dont know. They are specialists in Nissan but also do a lot of work on jap cars. I think i will try the swap myself and i'm sure with all the help you guys have given i will be able to call on you to try and help me out of any tight spots that i may get in too.
-
They are saying that to fix the engine will take 30 odd hours and said its £35 p/h. So half the cost is in labour. And they said that to swap the engine will take about 16 hours.
-
No, i have not seen anything. I gave it straight to the garage when i thought there was a problem. They did a block test? and it showed straight away the compression was high. So i am thinking of just changing the engine straight over if it is easier and will be cheaper. I have found a yard that has an engine for £500 with 28000 miles on the clock. Does this sound reasonable? From the gerneral impression it sounds as though it sound not be that hard to take the engine out. Does it make it harder if the car is an auto? or is it easier?
-
Yes i did, it went a little high for 10 sec then remained at normal operating temp. Then when i was on my way home 5 min journey the temp gauge went really high so the next morning it went straight to the garage.
-
Yeah i have the hoist, i did not know if it was as simple as unplug/unscrew everything and then drop the new engine in. Does anything have to be retuned etc etc. Apparently when they make the engines there are still holes in the engine and to fill the holes they make a cork from metal and then wack it into the engine. The cork has managed to go onto the inside of the engine, causing it to blow the gasket and needs a lot of work doing, or so they say.
-
The engine i have at the moment has currently lost its "cork" which is causing the engine/ radiator to loose water. The garage has quoted £2000 to fix the car this includes Replugging the engine, skimming the pistons etc etc head gasket not sure what else there was. I was just gob smacked at the cost. The car is currently is an na which i can buy the engine for about £500 with 28000 miles on the clock. The garage has quoted about £800 - 900 to simply swap the engines over. Does this sound expensive and how easy is it to just swap the engine yourself at home?
-
As i have stated in another thread the garage thinks that i may have blown a head gasket, which i am guessing will cost a lot of money to replace. My question is how easy will it be to swap the engine over for a TT. I know the gearbox (auto) will need changing and the ecu, possibly the downpipes? but is there anything else. Is it a straight forward swap? Does anyone know how much it costs for a head gasket change???
