Recently before I sold my supra I declared it off the road as I had to do work on it before it could go. However during this time my insurance expired & unknown to me admiral (insurance company) decided to automatically renew my insurance for another year but as I changed banks also they didn't have my correct details to take payment so it was sent back un-paid. I pay for my insurance upfront so didn't feel the need to tell them as I was moving house at the same time also, so it got put to the back of the 'to do' pile & consequently forgotten about.
So now I have a debt recovery company trying to get £155 off me for insurance I never asked or agreed to. They as u can guess are telling me to pay the bill & the contest it. (which I really don't want to do) Or if I can supply them with proof of SORN they will close down the account as no funds required.
This leads me to my problem, I don't have the sorn notice anymore as I gave this along with anything else that was supra related to the new owner & the new owner doesn't have said document as its now taxed & on the road.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as every time I try to contact the DVLA I can't get though to speak to anyone & keep getting cut off.
Thanks, Michael
