    Cars that tempt

It depends on 1) Can you afford to be the one that gets bitten and then sell it for market price. 2) Does the ownership experience and drive make a possible 5 figure bill worth it.? I have never found such a car, although I am tighter than 2 coats of paint. Supra was a good reliable choice compared to others, RX7, 300ZX etc. Z4M has cost me next to nothing in servicing over 3 years as all the major services and brakes had been done (£2K bill). Now the Porsche is under warranty till 2019 but generally there aren't any reports of issues on forums from a car that is 5 years old, so I would have hoped there would be something posted if someone had been bitten. I would speak to CW about SL Mercs as he slated them. I also just got an £1100 bill for a C Class with 32k miles on the clock. Not good cars from the looks of it. H.

I would have to agree. I think it would ruin the ownership experience if you are wondering where the next big bill is coming from. I still can't get my head around why people buy cars, that could ultimately land them with the same amount of £££ in repairs. I don't regret letting our Supra go at all. Gave 9 years to the marque and although I looked at other cars, I never organised a test drive for fear of falling in love with another. Since then I have found that other cars offer more fun and make you "want to go for a drive". I now have two cars that I would struggle to be without as I think they are so much fun. I miss the Supra as it was a beautiful car but I don't remember it making me giggle like the current ones do. Variety is the spice of life. H.
  3. Well, for those thinking they were going to enjoy this trip. I am now coming... Will be good to catch up with some old and new faces. H.
  4. They used to have longer leads but then went for the shorter lead and sell you an extension and make a few more £££. I have two chargers and they are both different lengths on the battery side. That is worrying as to what would have happened if you had left it. I have used these things for about 7 years and at times left them for about 6 weeks without checking them. Never had a problem, but I do sometimes go to bed wondering if I am going to wake up and find the garage and both my "P&Js" going up in smoke. Great piece of kit for the money but I always though that they protected themselves for electrical surges or overheating the battery. H.
  5. Lovely yellow Supra that. Always loved OEM skirts, stock look and decent wheels. H.
  6. Just discussing this with Mrs H. Need to organise kids etc.
  7. This. I hope they are ok, side impact into a solid object can never be good. I am still wondering what kind of speed you would need to be doing to get that amount of damage, not much on a slippery road and heavy car. Once you are on the grass or ice, you are a passenger unfortunately. RWD, auto and lots of HP is never a good thing at this time of year. H.

    Cars that tempt

Loads of cars out there that are reaching the bottom of their depreciation curve. It depends on what "type" of car you want to drive and how big your pockets are if things go wrong. Old M cars, Porsches, and limited production models are always going to be a safe bet.I only drive manuals with RWD so the options are much more limited when you want 300Hp plus. The Bentley and Aston costs can be eye watering when they fail. H.
  9. This..!! Couple of decent low miles cars on AT for less than £6K. Great fun car to drive too. You may need to travel though.
  10. Lovely car..!! Is your drive moving and the car is stood still? I think a trip to the NW would be in order if you can afford the fuel..... H.
  11. Hi Jav. Congrats on the purchase. That car has had some real love and attention. I had half an hour on the phone to Ellis in midweek. You won't find many better guys than him. Enjoy...!! H.
  12. Unless you like crashing, I would bleed the brakes..!!
  13. That is one expensive NA auto. I imagine there is air in the brake lines if the pedal has travel and the light is on. H.
  14. I thought I was special in the buyers eyes. Maybe not after all.....

    Royal Mail

Surely one man can't kill the whole Royal Mail?
  16. I think you need to drive one to see if you like it. I haven't really given ours the beans yet but I love the way it drives, she also looks amazing and gets a lot of attention when out and about, probably similar to my old Supra. The lack of power doesn't bother me at all. I like to get the most out of a car, no matter what the power output is. You will always want more, so maybe go a for a car that handles better than most and keep the power on. I have slowly gone backwards in recent years, 400Hp, 340, now 325. I feel there is a sweet spot between 300 and 400Hp with RWD, manual cars that are just perfect in my opinion. There will always be quicker cars in a straight line but that isn't where the fun is for me. H.
  17. Sold mine 3 years ago. Never gave it much thought since. The cars I have now are so much more fun.
  18. Don't get me wrong, they are both excellent cars but the S54 is a more natural sound, coming right through the bulkhead and leaves you in no doubt or the raw aggression under the bonnet. The Cayman is a great sound but you feel like it has been created to sound that way, rather than it being the natural sound of the engine. Either way, I love being in the Zed and outside the Porsche. Sorry for the thread hijack Bossco. H.
  19. Cheers Dunk. Most of those issues were on the early S54 so my Z4M being late 2006 seems to be unaffected. Although you never know with BMW. Still, one of the best cars I have ever driven and it makes be giggle like a school girl when on full chat. I even prefer it to the Porsche if truth be known. H.
