  1. Jealous. I just paid £4K for my track car and need probably anther £1K to get it track worthy etc. Maybe I should have just gone for a disposable car. Seems a great deal that one though. H.
  2. I think it boils down to how decent of a person you are and the length of the stupidity. JP has 9 seconds of madness, compared to Ben (or whatever his names was), 3 days of ignorance, then got his just desserts. I think we have all stepped over the line at silly speeds at some point but it is whether you get away with it with the Police and also whether you are accepted socially too. JP, your mate really needs to trim his trees otherwise the neighbours will be complaining. H.
  3. Pussy..!! I take my hat off to you JP, you are as mad as a box of frogs. H.
  4. Natural selection at its best...!!
  5. Mods I assume then. My car just had wheels and decatted exhaust but I got the impression that anything beyond that and they wouldn't have touched me. H.
  6. Did you try Lynbrook? I never paid over £330 with them. H.
  7. I assume the house was already spotless?
  8. Ok, now stumbled across a debate about torque wrenches being crap for judging bolt tightness. This is giving me a headache. I have never had a wheel come off or valve top come flying off so I am going to stick with my principles, not matter how flawed they may be. Doing a City & Guilds, NVQ level III is not everything it's cracked up to be apparently..!! H.
  9. Hmm, interesting stuff. As my original point, the use of lubricant on the threads only becomes a problem if the bolts are over tightened and not torqued correctly. Therefore the spring in the bolt is lost. Good point about the soft joint but would a correctly torqued group of bolts really be affected by the soft joint in real life conditions. We are only talking a minimal amount of grease. Would love to see figures on how it affects the clamp force. H.
  10. Don't go bringing your boyfriend into this. He is busy shopping for old man cars...!! H.
  11. Ok, you can check shit like that. I'll get the brews in..!!
  12. Ok, I will agree that after being initially tightened they should be checked shortly after or after massive changes in heat etc. The grease is not going to make any difference though is it? I appreciate that tension on bolts can "relax". I think there has been a massive misunderstanding regarding CW's post. H.
  13. 36 Psi is quits high for a unladen car. I used to run 32 - 34 all round depending on load. Also were they in good knick? I had a set of Continental with 2mm on that were scary in the wet. H.
  14. Looks like a burglars convention to me...!!
  15. Defo. Moved on to max strength now as the normal stuff wasn't cutting it. H.
  16. Like a normal person then Ian? Sorry for the thread hijack. These are a beautiful machine and compared to its predecessor, very reliable from what I can gather. Rob does a lot of research before purchase so if it was good enough for him, it would be for me. H.
  17. No. I just hate rich people...!! It's bad enough my phone going ping every 10 minutes but on here as well. FFS..!! H.
  18. Jesus. I wish you two would f*ck off...!!
  19. I had to look at the date to check that this wasn't April 1st again. The use of copper grease will have zero issues on the hub or the bolts for that matter. It is used as an anti rust only and is heat resistant. I used to use it on industrial valves years ago so when they were refurbed we could actually open the buggers up in 10 years time. CW's post in the other thread is referring to wheels that are not supported by the hub to centralise the wheels and therefore the use if any substance that is "slippy", will not help matters. In that scenario, the bolts are taking the load of the wheel and that is dangerous. If the wheel is correctly located on the central hub ring and the bolts are torqued to the correct setting, there is nothing that is going to loosen them other than a wheel brace. I hope this clarifies the issue. Good reading though. H.
  20. What a mess. Hope it can be salvaged though. H.
  21. What else have you got? We are at 4 at the moment and that is probably enough. Swapped the Volvo for a Merc 220d on Wednesday and picked up a 330 Ci Coupe as a track car a week before. Gotta love car shopping... H,
  22. Nice car Dean. I will never be able to compete with you on cars. How many have you got?
