I agree to an extent. Ive allways been a been advocate of science. And although not yet proven I belive that the existance of other lifeforms in the universe is almost inevitable given the astronomical numbers involved. any religion which therefore depends on human existance being in some way special or compleatly unique i would readily rule out. my opinion changed however when i read sikh scriptures written 300 years ago which spoke of countless lifeforms on countless planets in space (intellegent and otherwise). if scientific observation is in direct contridiction with religiouse scripture, ill readily rule out the scripture. i havnt found this to be the case with sikh scripture.. yet. i therefore keep an open mind as to its view regarding the nature of life and death as the most pluasible alternative to the theory that at death we simply stop being aware of anything and truely die in every sence of the word.

ob one... why would there be a sexually excited jedi knight at the pearly gates?? this thread has veered off on a crazy tangent... despite my RLTC still being set to wet!!!

surely only in america though... usually preceded by "bright laits in da ska" and someone attempting to sue someone for something..

verdanic culture talks about your soul merging in with the universe. but only once you break free from the reincarnation cycle of birth and death through settleing your karmic debt.... i intend to settle my karmic debt by consolidating it in to one monthly managebale payment through ocean finance.

... . . ..now your just making stuff up...

at least we can take comfort from the fact that one thing we all have in commen is that sooner or later we will all eventually find out. and then what we leave behind will be taxed... quite a lot. there you go! thats how we're special. we're the only organism that gets taxed for dying!
-
I agree. this is why (for me personally) the reincarnation theory where your soul can become any other living organism (human/animal/alien) govened by laws of karma seems the most "fair".

Ps. Sorry to hear that you lost you mum when you were so young. having not to long ago experienced loss in my family also i can understand the questions such an event brings. ive given the topic allot of thought. unfortunately it just comes down to what your comfatable believing.
-
Heck of a topic!... my 2pence worth. the logical part of me belives that the conciouseness/self awareness bit of us is simply a by product of the biological machines that we actually are. As soon as the biological machine stops functioning the byproduct and conciouseness ceases to exist- result - everlasting un-conciouseness. Given our scientific understanding of things this seems to be the most likely explination. the religiouse part of me however belives in reincarnation. I belive there is an intrinsic part of us that ultimately defines who and what we are and it happens to be eternal/ immortal. The 'soul' if you will. this jumps from living being to living being -could be human animal or even alien. this ties into my sikh beliefs regarding karma, but thats a whole other thread! The religiouse part of me is winning the battle at present- for the simple reason that it provides a sence of pupose which is appealing and the first (reasonably more likely explination) lacks purpose. i do however realise that both my explinations are distincly 'unromantic' and lack the heart warming affect of other theories..

think that was a ref to the curved space/time theory. ie the ultimately spacetime is finite and curved in nature. its basically just a scalled up model of the earth - so which ever direction you travel in you will eventually end up where you started. so the universe is actually dougnut shaped... plausable.

Infinity is a necessary mathematical construct to help make allot of maths...well work.. shouldn’t really be described as a number as it doesnt really behave like most 'normal' numbers. in regards to space being infinite, they left out quite a bit of the thinking behind why this may not actually be the case. let me explain! not that i think anyone actually cares but im bored and its better then studying... Firstly you would have to be clear about what your asking. observable universe - no its definitely finite. All of space time - most 'probably' not, as we belive its expanding from the big bang. something cannot be both infinite and increasing in size. as by definition infinity is the upper limit of expansion. the whole of existance/cosmos/multiverse: ie infinite dimensions/universes. quite possible. infact quite probable if you believe inflation or some schools of quantum mechanics or string theory. however if you subscribe to quantum theory pretty much all logic/intuition/reason eventually is invalidated so theres no point thinking about it anyway... the universe is ruddy huge is the only reasonable conclusion....

easiest way is to do the follwing. tools>Macro>record new macro. Name it appropriately, and stick in a letter of your choice in the shortcut key box. click ok. type some random stuff in the spreadsheet "iwg iugdeug" will do.. then go to tools>Macro>stop recording. then tools>Macro>macros... select the macro you just recorded and press edit. code screen will open and you will see some code relating to your random typing (eg "iwg iugdeug" ) paste in the code in my first reply, save and close the VB screen. when you ctrl + whatever key you specified now in your workbook it should date stamp it. any probs give me a shout.
-
Just write a little macro and attach a short cut key to it. something like this will add a time and initial stamp to any cell when you press ctrl t. Sub Macro2() ' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+t ' Dim timestamp As String MyInitials = "JSJ" timestamp = Now() ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 & " " & timestamp & " - " & MyInitials End Sub

The only way you can sign up with two agents is through a multiagent contract. the commision rates for these tend to be higher to allow for the greater flexibility. Its all very relative to the exact contract details though - generalisations are difficult to make.
-
Ive had a bit of dealings with estate agents in the past. From my understanding in the UK a standard 'Sole agent' contract entitles the agent to a commission if the property is sold within the period that the contract is in force. This is even if you find a buyer. The argument for this is that the agent has incurred the expense for publicising the property so the buyer 'may' have been alerted to it through there advertising, even if they have attempted to approach you directly. However once you are out of contract they have no right to claim anything. check to see whether you have a notice period cancellation clause on your contract. not a standard thing, but some contracts have a 14 day notice period. so you should be able to cancel and sell after the 2 weeks with no strings.. otherwise If you feel you can sell without them noticing go for it i say*... just be careful as agents can be quite crafty**... *unless this is in obvious breach of uk contractual law in which case I wholly can not condone it... ** present company accepted creative.
