  1. Just draining the sump - about 2L I think isn't it? Is it a ramp job then?
  2. Local garage has just asked if the car needs to go up on a ramp to change the gearbox oil? If it doesn't they can fit me in this afternoon. I'm not sure and can't find any threads that specifically state how to change the autorbox oil? Please can anyone point me in the right direction or answer the question? Rob
  3. Or just get someone who knows what the hell they're doing to help in the first place lol thanks for all the help people !!!
  4. All sorted. The battery had just died die to my poor wiring on the switch :-(
  5. I'm waiting for my mate to get here and try jumping it, as I think it's just the way I had the switch wired up that's caused the battery to drain (fingers crossed) but yes I have a multimeter so that'll be the next thing to try I guess
  6. got both of those out - they have a greeny tinge to them but appear to look intact?
  7. Are we talking about the square black one? Doesn't feel like it'll unscrew without me tearing it from the box lol You can see the ones I mean in the pic below, my battery is way too low to use the flash in the footwell but you can see the type I'm talking about.
  8. OK, how do I take the black fuse out? I've tried looking at the ones in the main fuse box to see if that'd give me a clue but can't see any pinch points or clips etc. do they just pull out?
  9. I'll check the Black fuse when I get home from work and make sure I've not knocked any wires out too - It was definitely something to do with the way I wired up the rear lights as the stereo died exactly when I turned the lights on at the stalk. After that the car tried to turn over without any joy. Worst part of this is that my fiance is flying in from the US on Friday and the whole point of getting all this stuff sorted was so the car is up to scratch and reliable lol looks like I might have to get a hire car at this rate
  10. Checked the battery and it's still showing about 13v - wipers/windows/headlights still work = baffled and frustrated Yeah going to insulate the switch connectors but none of that's wired up at the moment
  11. Yeah, all looks fine. This really happened just after I wired in the second (passenger side) PCB. I've unwired everything I've done including the cigarette lighter wiring but still nothing - although if the starter motor isn't turning, wouldn't that suggest that the battery has gone flat/shorted out? Only thing I haven't done is reconnect the brake light wires which were joined by the PCB
  12. New problem now - could what I've done have killed the car or is it more likely what I've been doing with the rear lights? Car is completely dead now and won't start
  13. Changed that with a spare from the main fuse box but hasn't done anything. Not even turning over now?
  14. Checked the drivers side, there's a 7.5A fuse gone - RAD No 2?
  15. Just been trying to wire in my rear fog lights and all of a sudden the stereo didn't work and now the car won't turn over? I think I tried it first thing this morning and worked fine (starting to doubt myself now). Was checking the lights to see if Heckler's PCB's are wired in correctly and noticed that the black wire attached directly to the ignition, going into the switch wasn't completely connected, so reconnected that and that was when i noticed the problem. The wiring has been like hat for ages, I changed the fog light switch last week but it wasn't wired in until yesterday with the PCB's Any ideas what to check? Starter motor is turning over but not catching.
  16. seems to work fine, thanks for all the help everyone. Rob
  17. That works. Does anyone know if I can share the the negative wire I'm using for the lighter for the led as well?
  18. I'll give that a try, cheers. I assume that the center terminal with the bolt is the positive yes?
  19. Someone (cough) removed the grey plug that would make my life easy to use the wires for lighting which has now been removed. so need to establish how to wire the lighter up via spade connectors? (been told that should work fine?) but the voltage I'm getting is reading over 17v on the muti-meter? Unless I'm reading it incorrectly, which is a distinct possibility.
  20. Right I really have no idea what wire to look for for the actual lighter, just tested the wires i thought were the ones from the old cigarette lighter one blue/red (live) one white/green (earth?) and the multimetre says 17v so no use I'd guess? Really not that handy with wiring, can someone technical tell me what to look for and how to test the voltage? I'm guessing the wire in the second picture is the one Scott recommended for the LED? Rob
  21. Would that be the loose red wire with the bullet connector, hanging out the back of the stereo then? I'll have a look and see if that works.
  22. Ash tray was also removed and smoothed, I forgot about that
  23. Can anyone give me a bit of guidance? I need to wire in my new cigarette lighter so I can charge my phone/gps the stock one on the dash wasn't working and was removed and smoothed over so I thought I'd run it to the arm rest instead. Had the dash off and have found what I think are the original wires (one grey one white) but not sure how to check them? I've got a multi-meter but have never used it and honestly not sure what I need to be looking for. Other question is that the lighter I bought has a led ring to it so I've got another two wires to find I guess?
  24. ah, that sounds logical, cheers guys. Yeah fingers crossed that's all it is.
