Hi Lee, Is the SRD site down atm? I'm trying to find out if you offer a service to supply refurbed brake calipers in exchange for ones in need of a refurb (I'm sure I saw it on your site, can't rightly recall). If you do, how much for a set of UKs in exchange for my current ones? Thanks
-
Thanks for the link, I'll check it out!

Evening all, it's been a while! Is there anyone on here who does headlight refurbs? My glass headlight seals have failed as is typical for them, but I'm unlikely to find the time to sort them anytime soon, so I was wondering if anyone was in the refurb game?? No worries if not, they'll just have to wait another month or 36... TIA!

I've recently got into photography and have done some reading on street photography in the UK. In short, if you are on public land and your subject is on public land, then you're free to photo everything and anything (people and their activities included). Sounds like the neighbour may be breaching some form of privacy law to me.

Last time I paid over 4 figures for insurance I was 18! £350 last year for my UK car on an Admiral multicar policy - and adding my girlfriend to the policy reduced the premium despite her fault claim a couple of years ago

I think my girlfriends '07 Mini must be completely different from everyone else's then because I love driving it round town. It's small, nippy, handles like it's on rails and brings a smile to your face when driving it enthusiastically! Yes the speedo's in an odd location but it only takes about 2 minutes to get used to it and it may rattle in a few places but I tend not to notice. My only gripe is I don't like the clutch and can't change gear particularly smoothly in it We drive it ~70 miles to visit the gf's folks frequently and despite the firm ride it's comfortable - it did start to get tiresome after 250 to visit my folks, but we usually take the Supra for that trip

As per title really. Does anyone know the thread size of the battery clamp bolt? Sheared mine off, EZ outs have failed so I'm now looking to re-tap it to remove the last of the old bolt material

Firstly, thanks guys for the tips and advice, it's much appreciated. I've double checked the soldering on the warning lights that was redone a couple of years back and it appeared to be ok. Just to be sure, my brother in law resoldered them for me in about a tenth the time it would have taken me (and neater too!), and the engine warning light now works again! Before that though, I was a little surprised to find a few bulbs out on the outside of the car, especially given she's only just passed her MOT two weeks back. One brake light was out; quick change and the MIL has gone out (I'm sure I've had a brake light go before now but I don't recall the MIL coming on, my memory must be rusty), so no need to check the diagnostics. However, in removing my battery to replace a blown side light, I sheared off the clamp bolt Seems to be one small annoying thing after another for me atm!

I'm definitely shorting E1 and TE1 - I thought I may have done that bit incorrectly so I kept checking it! I had the dry solder issue a couple of years back, so I had that sorted then. I'll look into that again though, as it could have been a dodgy repair. Cheers for your help and suggestions so far guys Fingers crossed I'll get to the bottom of it soon!

Good luck with the ride dude. My girlfriend and I completed the Round the Harbours 35 mile bike ride for BHF last Sunday, and putting in the practice definitely helps - I'd say it was more about getting your arse used to being on the saddle for hours on end more than anything!

Right then, finally had some time to faff... Fluid levels. Check Alarm diasbled. Check The engine warning light bulb hasn't blown. Check Paperclip in diagnostics port. Check Flashing engine warning light? Negative I feel a trip to Hell-frauds in the offing tomorrow on my way to work. Might as well give it a shot. Still can't see / hear / feel / smell anything untoward though, which I'm taking as a positive so far. Edit: A quick search on the O/D light flashing brings up a lot of results for folks who've had the O/D light start flashing whilst driving along. Mine is only flashing when the diagnostics port is shorted and the ignition is turned on.

I'll give the immobiliser a go and check the brake fluid (hopefully) tomorrow. Car isn't going anywhere for a few days anyway She's also still limited to my knowledge - never been that fast in her to find out! I may have to if I can't figure out the source!
-
Hmmm. I hadn't specifically turned the immobiliser off after unlocking the car. I'll see if I can figure that out and give it another go!
-
She had a full service two weeks ago and has covered about 50 miles since, so tbh, no I haven't! I'll have a thorough fluid etc check tomorrow, but after leaving her parked all day at work, there was no patch left on the ground.

Driving to work this morning, the MIL suddenly came on, along with the exclamation mark to the right of the temperature gauge (UK spec car) but no other warning lights. I was driving at a steady 30ish at the time. I've followed Ian C's guide to check the error codes but all I get is the O/D light flashing steadily. The orange engine light doesn't do anything. I've disconnected the battery for the last hour or so to try and reset the ECU (I'm pretty clueless with electrics, so if that's incorrect please let me know!), but the MIL is still illuminating. The car appears to be otherwise running as normal. Anyone able to offer any advice? My searches on here haven't revealed much so far.

In Hampshire? Not the one on Mt Pleasant Road in So'ton by any chance?! Record for being stopped there for me is 17 mins so far. Started cycling to work about a year ago, took me 40 mins to cycle 7.5 miles then. Now looking at about 25-29 mins depending on how heavy the headwind is!

1 trip to Scotland, 2000 miles and only 3 other Supras...
juanchan replied to juanchan's topic in Was it You?
Seems like you've been saved from that social faux pas! Spent a week and a half in the Oban / Fort William area, so not even close sorry! I did wonder if I'd spot any bearded Scottish Supra drivers though -
Firstly a black import at Southwaite services, M6 northbound on Saturday 30th April. Veilside front end and sideskirts, headlights were very yellow. Reg was G* KTY. Secondly on Mon 9th May a white Sup followed us for about an hour and a half from Glen Coe, along the A82 into Glasgow. Standard skirts and spats IIRC, huge GT-style black rear wing. Driver was prob late 30s. Anyone on here? Lastly a silver Sup heading north on the M5, approx J11, Thurs 12th May about 2pm ish. I did see about 12 separate Astons in Scotland though, so they're now common as muck too!

Spotted a few times over the last few weeks around Southampton, twice in the last week. Silver Supra, veilside front bumper, TRD rear wing, silver eyelid thingys, no idea on the wheels or exhaust, but it sounded good IMO. You followed me in my gf's Mini on Good Friday near the Civic Centre and you drove down Portland Terrace, and then waved at me in the Supra at 7am on Tuesday 26th near Bitterne Triangle. Anyone on here? Lad driving must have been 30-ish give or take.

How To: Overhaul starter motor contacts
juanchan replied to SUPRALOOPY's topic in Technical Reference & FAQs
Another happy customer here Thanks for the guide, it was very helpful, even for the likes of me whose socket set is nearly as clean as when I bought it Also, big shout out to Jive for lending me some flat tarmac to jack the car up on, and for lending me a few hours of his time off work to help out. Beers are on me next time I see you dude! Well, maybe the first couple... -
Only just spotted this! I'm not around this weekend, but I'll keep an eye out for any pancake action later in the year as my mate wants to bring his 350Z to N. Wales sometime, and 2JG wants some pancake lovin' too

What is the difference in tank size? 80 litres for UK and 70 for import rings a bell. I've done 20 miles with the orange light on, and I still only squeezed just shy of 70 litres into it.

Tragically working in the industry makes you curiously interested in things you're not even involved with!
