  1. Why not? What do you think is going to happen to your cars by accelerating down an old runway? It's no worse than driving on the roads in Scotland. Not likely a TT would get beat by a V-tec anything unless it was FI. I drove around a Type R at Crail in the wet after making a mess of the start. It's huge fun drag racing against other cars, if you don't take it too seriously aren't worried about your time. Suppose the worry for TT Supras is the newest bunch of hot hatches having 300hp(thinking Focus RS etc) as standard and being fwd they are easier for job bloggs to launch. Also it's only as neddy as every other car event in Scotland so I wouldn't let that put people off.
  2. That's fanatical levels of cleaning round here. Try putting it through an Asda car wash about once every 6 months(only when it's on special at 99p mind you). I'm not quite that bad, but not far off. Keep it dirty people.
  3. Definitely not OCD here, just enjoy driving cars. Used to go mad with cleaning when I was much younger(won a couple of trophy's at show and shine competitions), not now though. I'd rather see a car driven properly rather than parked up being polished. Never get attached to cars either now, just sell when i get bored, which is quite often. But each to their own, people enjoy cars for different reasons and get their kicks in different ways. I enjoy seeing all sorts of cars and take an interest in most of them, but I know I'll never be OCD about them.
  4. Damn you Mark I wanted this. Even tried to get my brother to get the lads number off you. Why he didn't just post his number on the advert I'll never know. Best of luck with it, be interested to see how long the W58 lasts driven properly with TT power.
  5. Nope, if it was a hard top it would be worth even more. It's the other way round over there, aerotop's are very common and hard tops very rare.
  6. Received my copy this morning, I'm sure it'll spawn many new NA-T threads.
  7. Basically if you are above the red line change over point(135mph) between 3rd and 4th in an tiptronic, and go WOT the gearbox will change down into third no matter what speed you are already doing at partial throttle. So you could be doing 150, got WOT and it changes down to 3rd at 150. It also means if you are going for a top speed run at WOT, the car won't change from 3rd to 4th without lifting off the throttle slightly. But then you run the risk of hitting WOT and it changing down again. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a way around it. There was some talk of getting around it years ago, but again I think nothing came of it. Some recent discussion about someone having the same issue here: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?297504-VVTI-Tiptronic-gearbox-issues-and-Delimeter-chip-issues
  8. There will be plenty over 200k, but with owners totally unaware that they are. Trust me clocking is an epidemic with imported cars. I'm not signaling anyone out, but people who honestly believe their obviously tired, 20 year old cars have all done under 100k miles are dreaming. I'm not saying there aren't low mileage cars out there, but nowhere near as many as every classified advert would have you believe. As has been said before, the person with the highest mileage supra on the club is probably blissfully unaware of the fact. Edit: Just checked and between Pistonheads and Autotrader there are only 5 mkiv supras for sale with over 100k miles on the clock. Every other supra is under the magic 100k miles. Speaks volumes IMO.
  9. Doubt the extra £55 a year even entered his mind. See above.
  10. The most anyone will ever pay for road tax on a supra is £280(this year, up from £270 last year). Even then, this will only apply to cars registered after the first of March 2001. The top two tax brackets only apply to cars registered after the 23rd of March 2006. Seems to be a believed myth on here that some of the last cars were in the £490 tax bracket.
  11. Yup, they were the OEM wheels in the US. They love a bit of chrome and mostly have a climate that doesn't lead to them corroding like here.
  12. You'd probably of gained a bit more from the lesser amount of transmission losses through the manual box which should make it feel a bit faster as well.
  13. Suprabass on here is parts of the Lucas oil UK drift team(formerly team SATS) and they run a 1000+bhp supra in the BDC. Some photos and videos here: http://www.lucasdrift.co.uk/media.asp

  15. Ach why not, it's probably just spent a day either going round the track or drifting. Both of which would be likely to put more strain on everything. I wish there were more supras driven rather than being polished on here, but we seem to take our lead from the US rather that the Scandinavians.
  16. This appears to be a good example. What I would say is that it now has 100 miles less on the odometer than it had a year and a half ago, however this could just be an oversight as it appears to be the same person that is selling it. It also had no MOT from April till June last year for whatever reason.
  17. You would be correct. Still could be worse, N/A autos will be scrap money before they go up in price.
  18. Kieran put up some helpful pictures on this thread to show how he fitted it: http://mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?214633-Active-Spoiler-Fitted-)/page2&highlight=spoiler
  19. Yeah, I've always liked that model of Celica.
  20. From the view through the bonnet it suggests a "V" configuration engine. From the back it reminds me of the TVR Sagaris, especially with the spoiler up. Nice looking concept, but if it does reach production don't expect any change out of 80k.
  21. I really like it, no doubt it'll be a superb engine with excellent exhaust note. Some of the fruits of the LFA labour can be seen here, and with a UK number plate in place it'll soften the font grill somewhat(like this IS 300): http://www.technologicvehicles.com/Content/news/2351/Geneve2013_LexusIS300h.jpg
  22. As you can see the blade is in excellent condition with no cracks or rips. Just needs a clean and some back to black to look brand new. It's dusty from sitting in the garage for 2/3 years without moving.
