If you can wait until the new year I'll sell you my gearbox, steering wheel and ecu. From a 98 tiptronic vvti with low mileage..... PMme in Jan/Feb if you haven't decided..... -

Cheers for all the info guys. I'm still debating the ECU choice and will decide early next year. In the meanwhile I look forward to seeing how the VVTI goes on the solaris install.

I've never had any of those issues and mine is using a MPH converter (some crazy no-name-brand jobbie...)

I've never heard of any issues with the head gasket on the VVTI.... touch wood.... Good luck with your choice... PS: Out of those three you can't go wrong with the Supra.

I like my Tiptronic.. but going manual because I need more power and the auto box won't last long. VVTI is great, but if you're going single some time soon, then auto and tiptronic are a world of pain. There are so few choices of ECU to do the auto 'properly' and then you have to control the VVTI and that narrows your choices even more to really silly expensive kit. VVTI = expense if you're modding extensively. If you only plan to go BPU, then I couldn't recommend VVTI enough. Otherwise, stick to a normal head.

I've heard that Steve is okay. Apparently it was when he hit 2nd gear, so that'd be at about 130mph... Looked like very nasty conditions...

I did mine a while ago too, but got Heckler to do the aircon controls. Came out really nicely and matches my head unit perfectly. My dials are also slightly blueish but I'll sort that later.
