Cheers for the info. I'm pretty much sold on the Solaris, just waiting to see the results on Steve's car After all the good feedback on it, I reckon it's the way to go, and fits my budget nicely. Next step is the 6 speed manual conversion, and then the single goes in. I was debating selling this car and getting a 6spd, but I've spent so much time and effort on my car that I'd be sad to part with it, and my wife would kill me if I bought another Supra as a second car and left the tiptronic as is

I know this is a slightly old thread, but I've had a quick search and was wondering if there were any downsides/issues when doing the manual conversion? I've read all the threads on the conversion process with the tunnel mod and the propshaft length etc, but was wondering if things 'felt' the same afterwards as a car that came with manual? For example: Does the clutch operation feel the same? I don't want to go down this road and then regret having done it when the car starts squeaking or rattling (apart from the clutch ).

I'm thinking of a VVTi gearbox conversion, what's involved?

Same gearbox, different method of control as far as I know. You can change up and down, but if you're in 3rd, and put your foot down, the gearbox will change down if it can. It won't go higher than third though if that's what you've selected.. -
