  1. Ah, good tip, thanks...
  2. I have gaskets for the other pipes but apparently it's better to use the paste at the turbo end (Chris Wilson advised me to do this) The 2nd decat was easy, except I had to angle grind the bolts off cos they were stuck. Luckily I had spares Just called a mate to bring around some axle stands. Let the games commence I've also just put the std BOV back on to see if it makes any difference to my richness. Forgot to take a rag downstairs, was full of grease, and the phone rang. Don't you just hate that!
  3. Thanks... just went downstairs and realised the axle stands are at the mother in laws house. This is gonna suck. I don't want to drive the car (heat from exhaust before working on it..ouch) but have no stands. Must find a replacement!
  4. Cheers... too late now. Gonna start in a few mins..

    Painted Dash

    V.nice. What colour is that?
  6. I know. Everytime I go there looking for something specific I'm sadly dissappointed. This time, however, I was victorious
  7. I just checked the gap between the outlet of the SSQBOV and the blocked off pipe. There is no way a kit will fit on there with the std bracket. Tomorrow, I'll be changing back to the standard Toyota BOV and seeing if it makes any difference before buying a recirc kit. Will keep you posted.
  8. Cheers. I found it in Halfords hidden in the super glue section
  9. Thanks Chris. I'm not driving it before doing the job (I picked up some exhaust assembly paste tonight so the exhaust wouldn't be hot tomorrow- far too sensible of me). I also bought some WD40 to hopefully loosen stuff up (wishful thinking probably). How long do the socket extensions have to be? Is it far in? What size are they? I guess I could figure this out myself. Just being lazy.
  10. Does the 1st cat have a sensor on it or anything that I'd have to refit to the decat pipe?
  11. Anyone have a pic of the front decat pipe in a VVTI from underneath? I want to do this tomorrow so any hints would be good.
  12. Anyone know where I can get some of this from?

    Intercooler mesh?

This might be better. Do you have google http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductList.asp?cls=ROAD&grp=RP012&pgrp=RD003&tlgrp=RD003

    Intercooler mesh?

Might not be exactly what you need but they have all sorts of mesh...

    Intercooler mesh?

    try this? http://www.meshdirect.co.uk/Stainless-Steel-Mesh-c-111.html
  16. Kwik fit refuse to do my tyres too. They reckon the 19"s will and I quote "break their machines"? How do they do the Range Rovers and X5's etc?
  17. Hmmm, I might just have to bite the bullet and buy one of the recirc kits. There appears to be a hole in my wallet...
  18. You can always make your own? Search on this forum through the threads. Someone recently posted the size of the hole required, or you could experiment and start small, and gradually increase the hole size. IIRC I think it's just under 2 inches in diametre
  19. I've been thinking that it might be down to the BOV venting to the atmosphere instead of recirculating. It only started happening after fitting the HKS BOV. The fact that the backfiring seems to be down to being too rich makes me think that maybe it's having the power loss effect? I'm only just learning about A/F Rich Lean conditions, so it's guesswork on my part at best for now. When do you get your recirc kit? Maybe you could try that incline after fitting it?
  20. I know this sounds silly, but have you asked Chris Wilson?

    "Free Air"

I carry a mini compressor in my car made by michelin. Lightweight and very accurate. I got sick of driving around looking for one that wasn't broken.
  22. Sometimes when I drive my car and accelerate at 30-40% throttle, and change from 2nd into 3rd, the engine feels like its being strangled.. almost like it's not getting enough air or fuel or maybe too much of one or the other (I have no way of measuring this yet). If I lift my foot off the accelerator and put it back down, then it goes away. It's an intermittent problem. Any ideas?
