  1. I have heard before that the difference in 170MPH and 180MPH then 190MPH etc needs a huge jump in BHP because of the aerodynamics and to break the 200MPH barrier as someone mentioned above requires a very special car indeed, may stand corrected
  2. Never mind the colour, its the Aston Martin thing that cracked me up, I love my Supra but would swop for a Vantage!
  3. Both the skyline (of course manual) and the Supra (Auto) ran F Con V Pro and the Auto box has been uprated to handle more power but my first single supra ran a standard auto box and 550bhp and never missed a beat (did change the box oil on a regular basis)
  4. Mines an Auto and I really enjoy the way you can change your driving style from stuck in traffic relaxed to pushing it a bit and letting the Auto do the work (its running just over 600BHP with an HKS T04R single)
  5. 1 good point maybe to add is that there is a huge difference in power delivery from one style of single to the next, some being very laggy and delivering high reving power and some spooling up very quickly but sacrificing some top end power
  6. actually I have done it far too often ask my e wife This is my 2nd Supra and the Skyline well that owes me £!! I find I have got carried away at times looking for massive BHP and spend/brought items that to be honesy were well over spec'd but too late to regret it now!
  7. This is a very valid and fair point and it is all down to the individual and a bit like gambling it is addictive when you start to tune and also like gambling only spend what you can afford as i have in the last few years had a few awesome cars and spent a fortune to have what is pride and knowledge of owning quick cars as much as actually pushing them to the limit, you are right 400BHP is great but when you drive it for a while and then go up to 600BHP you want 800 and so on, get a house in my opinion and do it slowly! I posted my two projects anyway and you are looking at a lot of overtime !!
  8. spend you money on some wheels and leave it as it is, looks great
  9. i had a shoot done by J Tuner and I turned up at 10am on a Saturday morning, drove around for one hour looking for a 'good location' which turned out to be an industrial estate, then he started taking pictures FOR 4 HOURS and i had to move the car soooo many times and have lights on in many pic (had to jump start the car after battery went flat!) not the most fun, the shoot was for free, he made his money by selling your car pictures to mags, the problem is you cant have a copy of the pictures if you go down this route until they have been published
  10. cool! Brings back some youthful memories!!
  11. HKS T04R HKS T04Z Another point is that he may want to think about internals, fueling, brakes etc when going for 800 horses, with this kind of BHP the turbo is just a fraction of the spend, i spent £20,000 in one bill for the skyline and there is still stuff to do
  12. Well I was paying 104p a litre for super, but today in Purfleet i payed 94p for the same gas at the same station, filled her up just in case it changes again!
  13. This is the skyline HKS T04Z graph before the new intercooler was fitted, shows a good power curve i would say! I to am not running other turbos down, christ i think the T51 is an awesome turbo but you cant use it every day as it spools so late
  14. The spooling starts at atound 2300 and from 3300 to full boost is very quick indeed, the Skyline runs 1.1bar low boost and 1.7 High
  15. The HKS T04Z is the better turbo and makes more power but this is of course the newer turbo and TDI who fitted it tell me it is one of the best and quickest spooling turbos you can buy, In the skyline the T04Z is very very quick and delivers the power early and made the T88 feel very outdated, in the supra the T04R linked to an auto box (running 600BHP) is more than enough, if I had to do it all again i would fit a T04Z to the supra, if i raced the cars a T88 or T51 would be an option as you get big BHP but as I drive my car every day it needs to spool early
  16. Yes it is a fantastic turbo with superb power delivery yet still most importantly drivable, my supra has the HKS T04R and is also a great drive
  17. I had a T88 in my Skyline and the lag drove me mad!, it was running 700bhp with that so I changed to the HKS T04Z and it is a fantastic turbo which spools up from 3300rpm or so and gave me 745BHP
  18. I am doing well!! yes that was me (HKS) on my way to get my new angel eyes fitted;)
  19. we were on a dual carrage way, it was busy and i was in lane 2, he dived into lane one and back out in front of me then braked ! I just let him go, just not worth it
  20. I agree some are willing to die for it!, i was on my way back from having my refurb angel eyes fitted yesterday when a guy in a laguna flashed me over and over to move over, he was right up my backside, he undertook me and then braked hard in front of me, would never race someone like that
  21. Lee i stand corrected, I was talking about the old 350, I took it for granted a student would not have a £35,000 car What was I doing at 6th form!!!! Had a mini with rotten sills!
  22. thats not the car he is racing !
  23. The new ones are a whole different matter and are very very quick!!
  24. nope, I had one and I have also owned an S2 TVR and while they sound like they are travelling at the speed of light (still love the sound) they are simple in technology and not that quick in standard format
  25. The TVR 350 has the following stats if this helps, 190BHP, 0-60 in 6 secs, and a 1/4 mile in 14.5 @ 95mph good luck!!
