Hi I was running 500+ through mine and it finally started slipping, it is a great box but if you are looking to put big power through it it has its limitations, if you have to have auto I hear the BL box is good

Who is going to do your build ?

I am planning a build at present, mine is not really by choice but hey ho ! it is a real challenge as I have several options already, all at very different costs, I would have thought you could run stock Tubs but just keep the boost down, waits to be corrected You may need some form of fuel controller

Ok guys time for some help with the re build of the engine, I am going to be ordering the parts as soon as I know the extent of the damage but lets say the head is ok for now, I want to bring this car back better than ever and dont want to skimp on cheap parts, however I can not afford JUN pistons for example and I will be limiting the boost to 1.4 max when finished, so what do you all recommend, pistons, rods, valves, cams, springs etc to give me the best combination of strength and reliability?

I would still like to come along and watch, doubt my supra will be ready though so will bring the SAAB, but no matter how many times people ask i will not dyno it

can you imagine the torque steer on that, I drove a friends nova many years ago with a 2 litre calibre turbo engine and it was almost undrivable, a complete death-trap, who would walk into the show room past an R34 and buy that for the same money

In my case I at least know that 1.5bar is pushing a stock engine and that is why I had the AEM set with a 1.2 bar option for daily driving and the 1.5 was just for the pod etc, I dont rag my car and never drive it to its full potential,to give you an example a wire was loose on the AEM for the 2 step switch and I had not even noticed because I have never used it after I saw what that did to a new GT4088 But I was worried that it failed at 1.75 bar way above any boost pressure I had asked for and after consulting some of the more tech minded peeps on here they all 100% agreed,

Wow thats some thread I started I have been with a supplier all day on the Isle of White, nice to get away for the day to take my mind of my broken car I had a call or two today and I gave my honest thoughts and thats it, As Muffleman has said I have used several tuners over the years and several dealers for cars, I am among the people to be ripped of by GTcars, paid stupid money to TDI and I thought a had a great team in TF and Dan from all the feedback on here before xmas, and as Muffleman says it is trust you need and your wallet empties quickly in this game and TF were the first to offer a real sence of value with some fantastic feedback at the time. I still have respect for Greg and Sam and Greg waited until 10.30pm the other night to help me out and I can not think of many garages that do that. I will not however get involved in trader wars and a blame culture as it does not get my car fixed and running well and at the end of the day thats all we ever want right ? I will be talking again to several people tomorrow to decide what to do next but I hope this whole saga does not end up leaving a bad taste, and any work needed now I will need to dig deep as funds have almost run out and after 12K you would think we would have a sorted car, its been along day and enough said from me now, but I want to make clear I have not pointed the finger of blame at anyone yet

Well I have been ripped off before and have paid over the odds for work also so I used this forum to make a choice on who was going to do the work on my car, 7 months ago TF and Dan were getting so much praise and compliments and everyone I asked said yes to there work, I have never seen anyone speak of poor tuning from Dan, maybe I just missed that thread ??

I have been very careful about who works on my car after paying well over the odds with my R32 GTR a couple of years ago and Dan has a great reputation on hear and in the tuning world thats why I used him, but nothing surprises me anymore and I will be asking some questions tomorrow when I have calmed down

The car has run a HKS T04R for a long time mate

Its tempting because if I re built it would be done to a high spec which would buy be a good car, not sure I want to keep throwing money at a 13 year old Toyota, not feeling the best about stuff right now and may feel different in the morning

Has been mapped many times with different issues (boost leaks, new fuel pumps needed etc) the valve seals and tappets were done and the pistons looked perfect, so all was well and Dan said it sounded perfect during the mapping until

Yep will be there in the SAAB turbo, which has 140000 on it and never misses a beat

Nic, Dan is just taking a look now, it looks as though #2 piston has det on the edges and the rings have let go, this is early report, Dan was very confident in this engine as it has just had the head done and was running superb
