  1. cheers pal. I pm'd him before but as it happens a kind sul off here has rang me and I've sorted a pair out... it would seem
  2. the turbos are off already and car is just sitting in garage. I'm selling the car as soon as fixed so just thinking of ways of getting it back on the road without paying £3k for new turbos
  3. I'm thinking about it but not sure of costs involved as I just want to sell the car anyway but cannot in the current state. new turbios thru toyota are £1350 plus vat each!!!!
  4. I neeed to turbos at the moment for my car. Would the single fit in or would there be loads of work to make it firt/ work etc
  5. despite the fact the garage have had my car for 7 weeks turbo technics cannot fix the turbo housings. I now need two turbos to get my car going again. The car is UK spec 1994 and I presume I need turbos to fit that spec Cheers My mob no is 07717 336 332 if you can help
  6. The car will still be for sale when I get it back this week. The abs light was an abs sensor and that has been replaced with a new one. The smoking on a previous thread was a carcked turbine housing in the turbo. Just waiing for this back... the turbos are at turbo technics getting sorted hopefully car back and on the road tomorrow or monday ( fingers crossed) Thats costing circa £1800 and I know this is lost money for me but certainly reassurance for whoever buys her that the jobs have been done. I'm selling cos I've seen my arse with the bill. I've ummed and arghed about selling. My plan had been to buy a TVR Chimeara but can't afford that just yet so I'm going to buy a cheap run around to save some cash for next months or so, so might consider cheap part ex .. was going to budget 2k on that. Posibly cheap old MX5 for a laugh over summer
  7. you couldn't get them to reduce mine could you? lol both mine are in and there quoting £505 plus vat each to replace turbine housing on both
  8. thats the price they quoted for changing the turbos. Again Chris I do not know what is expensive or not being a mechanically challenged person. Is that steep or low
  9. I'm after changing the car anyway and the cost of turbos has buggered that idea up for now!!! I fancy a n unreliable TVR for a change
  10. I haven't... all I have done is give the car to a chap who is allegedly a Toyota specialist who has set up his wn ( very professional looking) place in Wirral. It was nice to see another Soop getting dealt with when i was there . When I have called the female receptionist was totally knowlegeable about the Soop etc which was reassuring. Especially when one previous garage had said valve stem oil seals but they wouldn't do it and one other said head gasket and a rebore and quoted me £2000!!!! Hopefuly this will sort it oh and an abs sensor. I don't know whether t sell the car when sorted or keep it and get someof my money for repairs out of it
  11. My car is in a garage now and they are sending my turbos to Turbo Technics in Northampton? Basically to check whether I need new ones or refurbed ones and whether its one or both gone. Being a technical ignaramus I ain't got a clue whats going on. However I have been advised that if its a new turbo it will cost £500 each and if they can be refurbed it will be £250 each and £200 plus vat to do the labour does that sound excessive cheers Simon
  12. It does but tends to be worse on the second jouney I make in the day after it has been parked up outside work for 20 mins???
  13. The smoking is getting worse now. Hopefully taking it to a guy this weekend to check it over. At the lights and in queues there is quite a lot of smoke coming out now t the point where it is quite embarrassing. the water hasn't gone down anymore, oil seems to be ok still has power on the one time Ihad to use it in last couple of weeks!!!
  14. simonas

    From a 200sx S14a

I went from s14 to TT soop and theres a big difference in weight and feel of the car. I initially wasn't as excited about the soop to drive but once you get used to it you realise far better to drive than s14 in a more sophisticated way
  15. the cat is off.is there any merits in me checking the impeller of turbo tonight as I was going to havea crack at that ? should I stop using car or is it alright to run till it goes?
  16. just doing a search now! ta
  17. I initially thought my car had blown head gasket and dodgy garage told me it was and would cost £2000!!! My mate has checked car as much as he can ie hoses not hard no bubbling water no water in oil water level not dropped etc and is of the opinion its turbo related. When I'm at lights the car has started smoking blue smoke. and when I pull away there is a puff of smoke left behind. It isn't all the time but it is noticeable over last couple of days. I. I'm going to check the imeller of first turbo to see how that is. Can anyone suggest any tests or make any suggestions for me? If its a turbo and probably first as second reasonably new and smoke comes on low in rev range as I've been taking it so easy... how much are they rouighly to buy and have fitted??? Thanks
  18. bummer. cheers for quick response ayway Nic. Looks like I may need a replacement turbo
  19. Its actually blue smoke according to my mate. The garage were a load of f****kers. quoted me £2000 and said it was head gasket and re bore without even checking properly. I'm avoiding them anyhow my mate checked and water not gone down one bit since filled three days ago. It doesn't bubble and pipes nice and squeezy which I bel;ieve indicates not too much pressure in there. He followed me and said blue smoke comes out when I put foot down to move away and when I pull up and he believes its turbo related.... hope so. any ideas what the cost of a relacement turbo is The second turbo was replaced about a year ago and the smoke comes a soon as take so I preume this would be the first turbo?
  20. is that blue smoke cos I'm getting that out of mine at take off and when i PULL UP AT LIGHTS?
  21. is it a 2JZGTE style turbo? I've seen a pair for sale. could these do the job if I need to replace just the first turbo?
  22. When I'm at lights the car has started smoking whitish smoke. and when I pull away there is a puff of smoke left behind. It isn't all the time but it is noticeable over last couple of days. I checked the water level and that was down as well. I'm being advised prob head gasket and its getting a compression and dyno test l;ater this week. The garage I am going to has quoted £700 ish plus vat all in. Does this sound reasonable as I wouldn't have a clue how big the job is. The same garage also did a rebuild in April last year 12000 miles ago. I'll type whats on statement and I wonder shouldn't the head gasket have been replaced then. The guy in garage said they did the bottom end and that this is the top half of the engine. Remove engine and strip ( crankshaft worn) Supply and fit new crankshaft, con rod, and bearings, hone bores and re ring pistons reset shim tappets to cylinder head. Reassemble engine inc replace gaskets seals and timing belt and refit engine Anyhow I'm well cheesed off and I'm going to sulk and cry into my cup of tea
  23. My mate is trying to diagnose what is wrong with my car. I think its the head gasket and he was wondering whether turbo water cooled to eliminate something. so water cooled it is then cheers
