  1. Asparagus is the dodgy one. Meant to be an aphrodisiac and get you going but gives you yukky man fat apparently. m.
  2. Assuming it works like it should it is a discount off the premium not a guarantee the premium will be lower. For example you have 50% no claims bonus. The quote you are given is £500 but you get 50% off so it is only £250 in total. At renewal time you've had a couple of claims but you protected your NCD. However the claims mean the premium has doubled to £1000 as you are a risk. You still get 50% off because you protected your no claims but your premium is now £500. if you hadn't protected them you'd be paying the full £1000 Does that make sense? It is the very ideological laymans view of it. m.
  3. Be aware that the police in many places are cracking down on this. the law is 70% of light has to come through the front windows. You might find that this is already the case with yours so any further tints could make the car illegal. there have been cases of people immediately given points and not even rectification orders. m.
  4. routine proceedure these days, that's why it isn't a priority. chill out and post pics after the event! m.
  5. i currently have a 3 month notice period (i'm that good - yeah right) but the last one was two months. Just had a word, said they are keen to get me in, can i work 1 month and they were fine. They know you are likely to be less productive if they hold you so they'll only do it to be a pain. m.
  6. what has started to annoy me is the challenges that look very similar to the ones top gear did. i like the long haired dude and i'm happy they actually review cars on the show. The cafe bits that aren't meant to be funny are just strained though and really don't work with the program. m.
  7. My sister is the same. lease car, never cleans it or checks it. Her old Reno 5 managed to run without oil because she never checked it. only found out because my dad checks it when she goes to visit them. He also gets up and washes the car because he can't understand how she lives with it in that state! m.
  8. GWS!! You know, you probably need a holiday... Hope it all works out. m.
  9. 03 WRX Wagon. Got it because we might need to get a wheelchair in the back. Newage so understeersa rather than oversteers but tons of grip and very fast off the line. Not as hot at rolling speeds but four wheel drive has meant zero traction issues. Just make sure it has been serviced and hasn't been over modded and it should be fine. m
  10. Impreza isn't as bad to insure as you'd think. Have a look on Scoobynet for some recommendations, obviously much better if you get a UK one. You can also pick up one that has been family owned because they want to space. The stealability thing is usually the same as the Supra, they break into the house to nick the keys so no worse than before really. The reason they are stolen is because they are fast, handle superbly and you get get 5 big blokes with baseball bats in one so loads of room for you and your mates biking! m.
  11. Agreed. Your car is limited (if it isn't get it fitted asap) That way when he says "i was doing 117 and he was pulling away" you can say "er no, the car can't do more than 112" so that makes his evidence wrong. Should get thrown out. Dinnae do it again though! m.

    A bad day

sorry for you. we're about to lose one of our dogs. ok she's very old now (nearly 15) and the vet reckons it is best but i would still prefer it if she had a stroke in her sleep or something. I'm not really down with the "scheduled to die on wednesday" thing especially when they really are part of the family. m.
  13. Good on them for posting and as someone in the PR world an interesting tactic. I would always check the DVLa for unissued plates though as the one i'm interested in is £399 inc VAT and transfer fee with them and about £450+ fees with regtransfers so that aspect of the business is a tad expensive. If i had a plate to sell though i'd consider using them as the agent. m.
  14. Happy bidet chap! m.
  15. I love it. I was quite happy with "He'll shoot, he'll score, he'll eat your labrador...." but that's a whole new level. m.
