  1. Lovely car. Pure JDM goodness right there.
  2. Saw one of these for the first time in the flesh travelling in the opposite direction on the A303 yesterday.... looked 'blobby' and lacked road presence. However, far better looking than the awkward new Z4 I saw a few months back.
  3. My first ride in a single was the Trial car when Matt had it at AFR. It was the perfect combination of lairy graphics, BGW, and performance to back it up. Within a few weeks the single conversion started on mine. I enquired about buying it a few years back, but I seem to recall when chatting to one of the guys at the garage after AFR disbanded that it was exported to Canada of all places. I think this was 2013-14 or thereabouts.
  4. Not sure if I want to like this car or not. Like everyone on here, having a close affinity to the mkiv, I wished for a great mkv. This car doesn't appear to be great. First impressions are that it looks like a re-skinned Z4 (because it is), with the current fashion of needless bolt-on fussy body work. Looks awkward in the photos, but maybe better in the flesh? My current fun car is a Lotus Evora, which I think looks a bit challenged in photos. However, in the flesh I believe is a very well proportioned, good looking car that never fails to get positive comments - a mini supercar that often gets mistaken for a Ferrari or Lambo by those that don't 'know' cars. Hope for the mkv? Perhaps. I think it could look OK in lairy yellow, with a BGW, some better wheels and something done with the bumpers. Interior. Anodyne, dreary BMW. No hiding from it. My daily driver is a BMW, and whilst it is OK, has very little excitement factor and is lower quality than a Lexus. But the mkv is a 'Toyota' and not a Lexus. It would have to be put up with. How will it perform and drive? ..... Probably better than most mkivs. I loved my mkivs, but times move on, and this will likely handle much better. The relative 'low' power of the launch car would probably beat a BPU mkiv in all situations. I imagine a remapped mkv would probably beat single mkivs in situations other than a rolling drag. Real world, probably a better car. (But not a legend). If I had 50k, would I buy one? No. I never buy new cars any way, but the mkv has a whole hint of 'meh' about it. It had impossible expectations to follow. I think the Toyota/Lexus positions are slightly changed from the early 90's. A Toyota can not be perceived to be as good as a Lexus nowadays, whereas back then Lexus were more concentrated on the luxury cruisers and stronger Toyota sports cars could exist.
  5. No idea on valuation, but the BEST colour for a Supra - lovely car.
  6. I gather the 'always active' or 'only on when lower speed limits apply' is dependent upon which force is maintaining the system - it varies I believe. Information is not always forthcoming. I don't think they need to flash to catch an offending driver. I was sent a NIP for doing 60 when a 50 was displayed and I am 99.9% sure there was no flash. I've attended the (Smart) Motorways Awareness Course, and the instructors advised me the HADECS cameras were always active, and that there is no speed tolerance. They are active 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and work whether it is light or dark, and in all weather conditions. Clearly some inaccuracy (BS) in that statement with regards to being no speed tolerance, as I see many, many of the same cars flouting the rules on a daily basis - how are they not banned already?! I have no reason to dispute the rest though.
  7. Yellow = Awesome. Yellow Supra = Way Awesome. If I was to ever have another Supra, it would likely be yellow. Keep the updates coming.
  8. @ Mattdavies - I remember making those you have with the reflector ring almost 10 years ago. Glad to see they are still alive. @ Rg500 - considering the prices of parts nowadays, and the faff of splitting lights and making sure you don't damage them, I'd consider the £200 set on ebay. Put some clear LEDs that light up the right colours and you're good to go. (Coloured bulbs as per the advert look a bit rubbish).
  9. Selling my 6 speed single at the bottom of the depreciation curve for way under market value.
  10. I haven't even owned a Supra for over 3 years and was always in the manual camp, but this is awesome, great job!
  11. New price. A very fast, classy looking, fun car. Close offers considered.
  12. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?269017-1996-Single-6-Speed-Gunmetal-£13000
  13. Awww. You're almost my twin too. Did you ever get your car worked on by Pheonix in Watford? I may have seen it there about 6 years ago when I had my previous Supra..
  14. Finally, a day without rain, so a thoroughly deserved clean......and a bump.
  15. Haven't been spotted in ages!
  16. It's been a long time since I did this, but I think you need to take off the large piece of trim on the inside of the tailgate. The clips go on the long bolts secured by nuts. A deep socket is required to secure the nuts.
  17. 1996 Single 6 Speed, Gunmetal, £12,500 *The car was originally a 6 speed NA. GTE engine transplanted with single kit and supporting mods. 2JZ-GTE engine covered approx 70,000 miles (originally from my previous Supra (RZ auto) imported in 2006 with 23,000 miles on it) Facelift shell covered just over 100,000 miles PHR street turbo kit (GT60 turbocharger) Tial wastegate Greddy LS Front Mount Intercooler Screamer pipe 850cc injectors Stock fuel rail Aeromotive FPR New coil packs 1500 miles ago V161 Gearbox covered just over 100,000 miles Southbend clutch (works fine - easy to shift into every gear) Lightweight flywheel (will check my records for exact model) -minimal rattle/noise, easy clutch to use. Original close ratio LSD. AEM version 2 ECU. Mapped by Muffleman to 1.6bar. Running at approx 486BHP and 494lb/ft torque. (would easily break 500BHP with cams). I have no dyno plot. Boost, AFR, EGT, Oil pressure, Oil temperature gauges. Looks almost factory fitted. OEM larger brakes. New pads and discs 300 miles ago. Work Meister S2R staggered rims. 18 x 9, 18 x 10. Deep dish. Fit over large brakes and fill arches perfectly with no rubbing. 245 front, 275 rear. D2 coilovers covered 600 miles. Cobra Sidewinder seats in black leather with "carbon" backs - RRP £1500 when new. Pure Sports mats in black Gunmetal 6NO with all original paint in good condition - all the Facelift original styling. Genuine OEM skirts and spats Colour coded lip Clifford CAT1 Thatcham approved security This car is very quick. Despite being only 486BHP it will murder any BPU and I'm confident it would keep up with more powerful singles until silly speeds. The relatively small turbo with cast manifold results in nearly zero lag. Combined with the close ratio differential, acceleration is brutal. The car was put together by Dude (Austec) when at AFR Tuning , so you can be sure it has been done properly. A perfect fast roadcar. It is a nice simple, high quality single set up with little to go wrong. Probably more reliable and easier to work on than a BPU TT. Points to note 1) Air con does not blow cold air 2) Cigarette lighter doesn't work 3) Remote central locking doesn't work. Car can still be secured, immolised and alarm set. 4) Undertray missing 5) Driver's front arch liner damaged 6) Tiny mark to paint on driver's front wing 7) Small mark to paint on tailgate near badge 8) Wheels need lips re-polishing. I am more than happy to keep the wheels if you'd like to provide your own and have the car for a slight discount. I have been very honest with this description. The price has taken into account the above points. Feel free to ask any questions. Contact details available via PM. I am in no hurry to sell. Lowball offers will be politely ignored.
  18. I could possibly be persuaded to let mine go for your budget. (Gunmetal, 6 speed, single.) PM if you'd like further details.

  21. I have a VEMS dual display - works well. From memory I think it fits in the place of the clock or in one of the air vents if adapted slightly. http://shop.vems.hu/catalog/roundwbo2egt-p-101.html
  22. I'll take these Dude if you're 99% certain you think they'll solve my current issues.
