  1. Hmmm......... Engine Flush - The last time I drained a car of oil and used engine flush it blew it's head gasket the next time it was on the motorway. This led to having to get the head skimmed and pressure tested plus the new gasket and fitting and all the hassle of running around to a machine shop etc. I'm not saying it was the Engine Flush that blew the head gasket but I'd say it was a contributory factor. Some deposits in the engine are best left where they are...................
  2. Have you checked your oil level ?
  3. Yes I'm sure you can pick up one from a breakers or direct from Toyota and have it fitted by a bodyshop, but most people with the active front spoiler type bumper ditch it in favour of a complete new nose, usually for the better looks and airflow of an aggressive open nosecone. If you are looking for something decent but inexpensive compared with the genuine jap stuff then consider Paul Whiffin's front bumper or lower lip and bodykit if you're interested. See his website whifbitz for details .
  4. I did this job on the front end of my old Sierra and it was pretty straightforward, only took a bit more than an hour but I did have my dad (mechanic by trade) and his vast toolkit available to me! Like MartinF said you need some decent spring compressors. As for the alignment, all was well on the Sierra with a minor adjustment of the trackrod end nuts - it had been pulling to one side and the steering was very vague before we did the shocks and springs and afterwards the improvement was vast - the car actually went in a straight line with no hands on the wheel and the cornering and high speed stability were much improved. We didn't fit uprated parts either, just new original spec parts to replace the worn ones. Any problem nuts can usually be overcome with a soaking in WD40 and some elbowgrease. You could replace your front suspension bushes at the same time with some uprated items but I don't know if this is a common thing to do on a Supra.
  5. I used my elite powers of deduction from the snippets of info about your car you've given spanned over many threads C'mon give us some figures
  6. I always did like Blitz
  7. Terry, aren't you the bloke that's running a big single? How much BHP do you REALLY reckon you now have and approximately how much do you think it's cost you?
  8. From what I've read 17psi is the max you can run on standard turbo's, but to get past 15psi you need an FCD (Fuel Cut Defencer). As for the exhausts, Both the Blitz Nur spec-R and the HKS Super Drager are excellent systems with huge jap style rear exits. See Blitz and TDI for HKS
  9. Standard UK spec Supra has 326BHP. So for your 400BHP you only need to make 74BHP. Around 50BHP is allegedly achieveable by fitting a decent exhaust system (Blitz, HKS) and a full de-cat (it has 2 cat's, get rid of both of them). This will also transform the car mainly through it's quicker spool up of the turbo's and nicer sound. Budget around £800 for this. That leaves you with 24BHP to gain - easily achieveable with a small increase in boost pressure, say 13psi instead of 11. You can do it the 'proper' more expensive way with an electronic boost controller by Blitz, HKS, Apexi etc. or you can do it the simple mechanical way - this way is cheaper but you won't be abe to adjust the boost in car. May be an idea to fit a decent boost guage as well to keep an eye on things. *** DISCLAIMER *** I'm a n00b too looking for a Supra TT and as such don't have any real experience!
  10. Ceramics - What the jap spec MkIV Supra Turbo impellers are made of. Steel - What the UK spec MkIV Supra Turbo impellers are made of. Leon - Trusted and Well respected tuner on this board. See also 'Chris Wilson', 'Paul Whiffin' (dude that can get you stuff), 'TRL Performance' et all. I'm a n00b too and look what I learned! Pay More attention Paul! Dunno why it's handbags from 10 yards between Branners and Terrence tho
  11. OH OH OH I know the answer to this one! You have to remove the Active Spoiler Motor and gubbins, fixing the Active Spoiler in the down position to allow the FMIC to fit correctly.
  12. Down pipes before boost controller. Gotta get the right parts in place before you up the boost with a controller! Won't you be needing one of those FCD thingies too? ***DISCLAIMER - The above may be wrong, it is what I've learned from being on this NB so don't blame me, I'm a n00b ***
  13. LOL did I miss something between Branners and Terrence being new to the board an all? What happened that was so bad that it's down to handbags at dawn now? :baa:
  14. GT Twins for £500 anyone? I know about the call centres thing. I used to work in one of Sky Television's call centres before I started uni and they were running a pilot scheme back then. Basically shipped over a number of staff and their families to help set up a trial call centre over there. Those staff will be training a bunch of Indians to do my old job (and their jobs the fools) for £1 an hour and in the end all calls to Sky Television will be routed on the cheap to India where Sky can have those calls answered for a 500% reduction in labour costs. Gonna be a lot of jobs lost sometime in the not too distant future in the UK. Scary stuff.
  15. Yep, why pay someone from the UK £30k when someone in India will do it for £3k. Some regulations need to be put in place or a hell of a lot of IT and Customer Service jobs are gonna get outsourced to India I just finished my computing degree too, seems I'm a year too late and a lot of companies aren't taking on any graduates this year Dowturn in the IT industry etc.
  16. How did you go about making the hard pipes and interconnecting hoses yourself? What were the costs involved in this? Is there a suitable off the shelf type kit we could use if we get HKS Type R replicas from pace?
  17. But what if............. the Micra is having the Supra engine transplant
  18. lolol, Why is there a Micra in the background! About the FMIC, did their price include fitting?
