  1. As reliable as GM products get - same issues as Vectra-C really.
  2. '05 on Fiat Croma 1.9 Multijet Diesel. Bit of an oddball but excellent VFM - huge interior space, MPV crossed with hatch looks, good standard kit levels. For info, they're based on the Vectra C / Signum platform so share many parts and the diesel engines are the ones Fiat supplied to GM for use in their range, comes in the same 120bhp 8v or 150bhp 16v guises. I bought a '55 plate as the baby buggy for the Mrs a year ago, picked it up for £3,100 with 56k miles and came with leather. All in all, hard to beat for the job IMO
  3. Ahhhh takes me back.... again!!!
  4. Always fancied a car with this 1JZ variant - surely ripe for tuning!

    Newb here

Nice ST205 that, I like it a lot http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?236245-hi-newbie-none-supra-owner-but-toyota-owner for trolling BTW, at least your intro thread is 'normal'! Cheers, Brian.
  6. Seriously, you and your mates joined because you got your knickers in a twist over a disputed power figure in a GT-Four for sale thread? The errors you note were corrected in the thread but sadly a bunch of dreamers were still clinging to lala land power figures of 340bhp and 350bhp on a car running 1.1 bar boost WITH THE STOCK CAT still in place. You know, the really restrictive one that's a huge blockage straight after the turbo? So just to recap, that's a 90bhp gain from a 2.0 litre turbo for a little extra boost with an off the shelf mapped blitz access ECU with NO DECAT. Just to be sure - for some reason that's a tad ambitous for me but sadly dyno numbers are gospel as a number of ST205 GT-Four owners got similar pleasingly high figures on the same dyno on the same day (so I'm told!) so I MUST be wrong. Now that's as far as your trolling gets with me because, lets face it, that's the only reason you're really here. Now we're not on a for sale thread you can all play in this thread but understand you're at risk of administrative action given joining for such reasons contravenes our club rules. Welcome to the club and play nice!
  7. Funny that, an admin on GT4OC just PM'd me on gt4oc.net to say amongst other things, pretty much the same about the dynos. It seems you have a thread in members only over there which is now spawning trolls on this forum... I can imagine the upset that is obviously in that thread as I seem to have outraged GT-Four owners with the reality check on power figures. Given this thread has well and truly tanked as a for sale thread and in the interests of Interclub relations, I'll close this and copy your original ad to a new thread - I really shouldn't have carried on this discussion on the ad as it is a bit pissy but my inner sense of what's right wouldn't let the power figure go unchallenged RE: 1/4 mile terminals - you have to assume everyone puts the pedal to the metal on the 1/4 otherwise what's the point? I agree 1/4 mile time isn't accurate as a benchmark but IMO terminal is as the launch (and related surface excuses!) is taken out of the equation. Your 98mph terminal doesn't say 350bhp to me Cheers, Brian.
  8. Most likely - seems a bit much that given we're both performance Toyota enthusiasts clubs... Why on earth would I admit I'm wrong gt4tosupra - for a start I'm never wrong - and I don't see why you seem to think you have some concrete evidence that means you're right about your claims. You seriously think that a bunch of GT4 owners are going to argue that their cars really produce less power than whatever fairyland dyno flywheel horsepower claims they all got on the same day.... always the same with power figures, it's the same in this club too and exactly the reason I never bothered claiming a power figure for my car. I still maintain the real world measure of a cars performance as far as how powerful goes is 1/4 mile terminal speed. I asked earlier but you conveniently ignored it... what terminal goes with that 13.2 1/4 mile ET? As the time itself isn't much better than can be achieved in a stock ST205.
  9. Enlighten me.... oh that's right, you can't! Neither of us knows - it's all conjecture but looking at johnny's post: EXACTLY!!! RE: the engine differences, as has been pointed out the rev.3 on MR2 Turbo has the same engine / turbo / fuel system as the ST205 - just an SMIC instead of a CC. Certainly an interesting way to keep bumping a for sale thread!
  10. Disagree - the loss figures are a guess. You could avoid all this with an ad just stating 263bhp at the wheels, though unfortunately it doesn't sound so impressive!
  11. Equates to 28% power loss through the drivetrain - there's your issue right there. 263bhp at the wheels is more likely circa 300 fly tops. Certainly not 350bhp that's for sure! ;-P
  12. Thanks Jurgen. Would the SVA be a pain in the ass with it being a 2002 on or do you have a way round that? I know there's been a few loopholes over the years - temporary 'camper van' conversions etc.
  13. Ignoring posts about other GT4 dynos (each is it's own rabbit hole to debate exact spec and circumstances) - you're kidding yourself about the power figure and aren't the first to base it on some dyno graph or other. With the cat still in place that's an inflated figure IMO and I've seen a number of ST205's on the dyno at OC days in the past. Let's look at the facts, what are the wheel horsepower and torque figures associated with that snippit of a graph? What is the 1/4m terminal speed associated with that 13.2 ET as that's slow for the supposed power IMO and the terminal will most accurately reflect the power level. As an example, I've done 12's in a BPU ST205. I don't mean to mess up your for sale thread but contining to claim 350bhp with the cat still in place at that boost level on a stock turbo (chargecooler perfectly adequate at these power levels BTW so FMIC makes no difference) needs BS calling so as not to mislead buyers - Scott is right in his assertion it's like someone trying to pass off a BPU Supra as 500bhp for a sale and such postings will always be called by members. Cheers, Brian.
  14. Scott, Johnny - sounds about right from my (also first hand!) experiences of ST205's and SW20's too. All the usual mods including decat and 3" exhaust + PFC, EBC @ 1.2 bar on my bro's GT-Four also with lagged / polished CC saw 320bhp IIRC.
  15. Standard turbo @ 1.1 bar with the cat still in place = bollocks power figure IMO but sounds a nice example otherwise - good luck with the sale.
  16. Quite fancy the latest model of one of these as a new baby buggy, the '02 on one: Celica GT-Four engine and 4WD running gear with tip autobox in a very practical body. Would be great in the snow too and shouldn't have the suspension issues of the Celica being non superstrut based. ~ 260bhp standard, just a pity they didn't use the chargecooler setup like on the Celica for some extra boost scope without high intake temps. Trouble is the likes of autotrader doesn't list the Caldina and Pistonheads using advanced search by keyword only shows 4x examples of the Avensis based GT-T pre '02 model. Jurgen if you're reading this, could you tell me how much one would likely cost in nice condition direct from Japan? I know the exchange rate and perhaps SVA rules may make this impractical. Ideally I'd be after the sought after 'N (Naruse) edition' but not essential. Anyone else come across this car anywhere for sale? Cheers, Brian.
  17. dont be such a tard man everyone knows teh supra ecu is only compatible with teh jpegs!£!£$!
  18. Do you even need to visit me i mean its dead easy innit i read you could just send me a map to my phone an i blutooth it to my car and gain like... 70 horsepower man - where do i send the £200 too?!?!?
  19. Happy Birthday Lynz! Brian, Jean & Jackie
  20. Pics of the workbench or it didn't happen! Nice new setup Lee - knew you'd do well after seeing your tidy workmanship first hand at TOTB a few years back, it's hard to find a spannerman that takes real pride in their work and is the key difference between the few like you and your average (usually lazy) mechanic you find these days that isn't up to much when it comes to modifying because they don't put the effort in to do things right - often leading to problems down the line. I know that from seeing the work done on most peoples cars and the pride and attention to detail my Dad (old school MVT) would take in his work on mine and my bro's cars. Good luck with the expansion! Your car's in good hands Geo Cheers, Brian.
  21. 'kin 'ell you done a proper number on that! Glad you're OK mate, the car's a shame but you're more important
  22. Forgot about this thread - thanks for the further input David. A Drift prep / how-to sticky would be great - feel free to knock something together based on this thread and whatever else you think and I'll sticky it. j_jza80 - yeah I thought about the Soarer and that one you've linked looks like a good car for the job but at 4.5k given the mileage and that it needs all the usual mods along with it being a heavier car, I personally would rather stretch a bit further and go with the Supra. Cheers, Brian.
  23. Hi and welcome It's OK, that should T-Cut out just fine. Cheers, Brian.
  24. P.S. Closing thread as we've done the usual rounds on this subject and nothing good can possibly come from continuing.
