  1. Hi all. Am thinking of buying this as a cheap but fun car, as I have sold my RX8 to finance new windows for my home; http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201202440578162/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/1000/make/alfa_romeo/page/3/postcode/hr48dw/quicksearch/true/radius/1500?logcode=p The old guy selling it has owned it for 10 years, (has bought another Alfa), it is very clean, has a huge service file, drives very well, a nice feeling of solidity to it, and 4 new Michelins on it. Anything to look for on these? One thing I notice the brakes tend to grab, but work extremely well. And is it a good deal at £600? Cheers
  2. A few pictures and a link to ebay advert; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190628250879

  4. Now reduced to save me the bother of a proper newspaper or ebay ad. Now at only £295
  5. I have been to Auckland 3 times, once living near to Manukau for about 4 months. It has a great small city feel to it. Loads to do, but not a huge metropolis like Melbourne or Sydney. Pack a raincoat though, I believe it was Auckland that inspired Mr Finn to write "Four seasons in one day" Take a trip up to the Bay of Islands, just a short distance North, it is truly lovely, and very warm in the summer. For onward travel to Christchurch you could probably pick up a lift share from noticeboards in "Backpackers" accommodation. As I was there for several months I bought a car, and then just sold it on before I left, As for employment, I got a good job from a classified in the local newspaper, you just need to get a tax number from a goverment office, before you can start work. They gave one to me, and I did not even have a work visa. I just told any prospective employer that I lived there. Bet you can`t wait!
  6. Hi all I have an Xbox 360 4gb in black for sale. The wife got it as part of a phone upgrade, so it is brand new unopened in the box. £110 including carriage
  7. For me it is; Red Hot Chilli Peppers Queen REM Styx Greenday
  8. I have a brand new boxed one, arriving any day now. It was part of a phone upgrade, and is of no use to me. I will sell it at £20 less than the best high street or online shop. Plus carriage at cost.
  9. Hi all As part of an unwanted upgrade here is a Nokia Lumix 800. 1 week old, so completely unmarked. Currently locked to Orange. Includes protective case. Headphones unused. £260 + Carriage at Cost
  10. Hi all. Bought this just a month ago, but have now scored a free van from work; Ford Escort 1.6 petrol S Reg MOT March Taxed end of February 113000 miles. I have no history with it, only a receipt for a cambelt job at 97000. The car drives well, everything works as it should, it goes, stops, and steers, no horrible noises, (I think one wheel bearing is a bit noisy) the windows and locks work (though you have to lock it from the passenger side). It is black, and certainly no eyecatcher, the interior is good (I spent quite a bit of effort cleaning it, as the previous driver smelled like a goat), it has a functional radio, with CD. £395 Now at only £295
  11. Cheers, will do that tomorrow, as I have arranged to borrow a pump with a guage.
  12. OK have found it. Its a bit fiddly to get at as it is behind the boiler, but with the aid of a mirror I found it, so now I just need to get a footpump or such like to blow it up. I have found the instruction manual; it says Expansion vessel pre-charge pressure 1 bar (14.6lbf/in2). Does this mean I should set at this pressure with the water at normal pressure (it is currently 1.5 bar), or must I reduce the water pressure first? Cheers
  13. Excellent, cheers for that, I am now gonna have a look.
  14. Hi all I have a problem with my combi boiler; It is a Glow Worm Betacom 30c Only 2 years old, and it keeps losing pressure, when it gets below 1 bar, it will not start. Every few days I have to turn a water tap (it is on a U piece of hose which comes from one port on the boiler, and back to the adjacent one), which I imagine replenishes a header tank, to get it back above the minimum pressure, to enable it to restart. I can find no leaking radiators. It has been doing this for only the last few weeks, last year I think I only had to do this operation once. Does anyone have any wisdom on this, I am a capable DIY man, and happy to fix it myself if it is straightforward? Cheers
  15. Yes values have tumbled horribly. There are so many around, and they have quite a poor reputation for high mileage reliability, and are thirsty. If there is a hot starting problem, this can be due to coil deterioration, or the dreaded loss of compression (wear of the rotor tips), which can occur at seemingly any mileage. But the flip side (as a buyer) is that it it a modern, fun car, with decent power, and a great cabin.
  16. Hi all. I do not use it much and the Missus wants new windows, so here is my RX8 for sale; http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3466246.htm
  17. I did 1 for a car, 2 for a bike, and 1 for the IAM test. Does that make it four? An old schoolmate of mine took 4, coining the phrase "Dave is the only bloke I know with a season ticket at the test centre"!
  18. Different way to sell a car! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-SUZUKI-SWIFT-1-0-GLS-1-OWNER-STINKY-RANK-WORST-CAR-EBAY-STAY-WELL-AWAY-/280770999131?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item415f41735b
  19. No, I had them checked, they are good, just surface rust on the discs creating the noise, as it had been stood a while. All good now I have driven it a few miles.
  20. What you need for just a few more quid, is a silver Vectra...... now where have I seen one! http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?255903-Cheap-Winter-Runaround-Vectra
  21. Hi All Due to a change of plan, I have a Vectra for sale; 2.5V6 Manual Silver S Reg MOT March 2012 Tax end of December With Towbar 111,000 miles The car looks ok, and goes well, just needs new front pads, which I hope to get done by the weekend anyway. £525 Car is in Hereford.
