Oh, top. I'm currently fighting claims with my Local Authority AND Virgin Rail at the mo, so just another one to add to the letter list! Makes you yearn for cash again doesn't it! I'll be much more careful where I use my card in future, I doubt whether it was at a cash machine. I'm very switched on when I'm taking cash out and generally wear a face like thunder and look at people with a 'come within 5 feet and I will punch you in the throat in a nice way!' kinda look.

Asking whether or not I took 400 aussie dollars out in cash in Melbourne on my debit card last friday night!!!! WTF!!!!! I politely informed her that I was about as far as I could possibly could have been from the land of large bouncing rats, and kangaroos:d, at that point in time as I was on Anglesey in North Wales! It appears that my card has been cloned by some scumbags and they even had my pin!! Chip and pin, 'totally safe' eh!! B******s!I NEVER use my debit card on-line but it is the card I use for all my day to day card transactions so someone must have copied my information somehow and sold it on or summat! Got to wait a few days before being able to attempt to get my £190 back! All credit to HSBC fraud team though, firstly for picking it up so soon and secondly that since the first phonecall they've contacted me again to reassure me that everything will be alright! Always something you hear happening to other people and you say to yourself 'they must be dead stupid with their information, I'd never allow that to happen to me!!!!' Hmmmmm:confused:

Steering wheel wobble 'n' all that
Smellywelshman replied to Smellywelshman's topic in mkiv Technical
Haven't managed to check it tonight (due to one of the numerous fur covered aminuls that seem to abode in my gaff!!) so it'l have to be tomorrow after work. When I'm checking for play in the front wheels is the technique as follows? Place hands at 12 and 6 and proceed to alternately push and pull checking for movement? Any other things/tell tales I should know about before checking? taaa... Rob... -
Steering wheel wobble 'n' all that
Smellywelshman replied to Smellywelshman's topic in mkiv Technical
Yes, but I'd say it feels more like a regular thumping as if there was a flat spot on the tyres. Infact, when it started about 18months ago (I know, I've been mondo lazy...and skint) thats what I thought it was as it began almost immediately after I locked the front wheels up during a hard braking incident on the M56! But there is no flat spot and it hasn't really gotten any worse (or better) since then. I've changed my alloys from the 18" Advans that it came with (it was fine with these for a good 12months prior) to Work Rezax 18"'s only recently and the symptoms don't seem to have changed much at all. I'll jack her up tonight or tommorrow night and se if anything wobbles. -
Steering wheel wobble 'n' all that

Don't think its warped discs, as at all speeds she brakes in a straight line and the wobble is non-existant at lower speeds whether braking or not. -

letsa bumpitty bump then shall we?! -
The studs resemble those on my Work Rezax's very closely! They struck me as Work-looking in the first pic!

Its been going on for a while now, but because of other Supra related spending I've been ignoring it! It's now got to a stage where I NEED to get something done as its giving me 'vibration white-finger'! Symptoms are as follows:- 1. Constant (but slight) 'thud thud thud' that can be felt through both the footwell and steering wheel when driving, especially at lower speeds. Like going over very worn rumble strips. 2. Steering wheel wobble (like unbalanced wheels, but all of them have just been balanced last week) which seems to reach its peak at 80leptons, as if its resonating at that speed. So I'm guessing one, or both, wheel bearing(s) are shot. Correct? What else is worth changing at the same time? Anti-roll bar bushes etc...? As always, ta for mucho sharing of knowledge in advance! Rob...

My new(ish) wheels (Psst, Homer, they're your old ones!)
Smellywelshman replied to Smellywelshman's topic in Supra Chat
One of the *oo*ing rear wheels is only blahdy leaking air isn't it!!!! Through the chuffing seal between the two halves of the rim too. I know because I pumped the tyre up to 45psi and stuck it in the bath. Missus weren't too pleased as she watched me roll it through the front room and carry it up stairs I can tell thee! Cant believe my luck sometimes:(! So its back down to ATS with the wheel! Pull the tyre off and reseal it over the weekend! Uh oh, I can feel a bout of that insane laughter coming on again! -
I'm alright for wheels now, but other than that:yeahthat:

Smellywelshman replied to Smellywelshman's topic in Supra Chat
No, no you dont! See above posts!! Nah, they're really good quality alloys for a bonzer price mate. Had a bit of a brown trouser moment when I heard a big whooshing sound as the alloy I'd had to reseal was being filled with air! But it was a dodgy valve! Whew! -

Woooohooooooooo , 5 weeks after aquiring these from Homer, Work Rezax 18's, they are finally done!! They needed *ahem* a fair amount of TLC, and, if I knew then what I know now I probably wouldn't have gone for split rims in need of a refurb, know what I mean;). But... after undoing, cleaning and re-torquing 144 studs (que slightly insane laughter). Taking the centres to and from the powder coaters twice, and loooooots of rim polishing (that sounds quite rude doesn't it!), they were ready for swapping the tyres from my old Advans onto the Works... Only to be thwarted by the ATS lads who pointed out that I needed two new rear tyres as the current ones were illegal. Que slightly more insane laughter, an afternoon searching the web avoiding my boss' eye and mucho fingering of an already depleated wallet, new tyres on order! They have now been fitted and (in my opinion, which is all I really care about) look good. Much more classy than those dreadful Advans! And so ends another oderous adventure twixt Rob and his Supra!! What do you think? Say whatever you like as they're NOT coming off or getting changed for quite a while! Dash respray next, DIY job methinks!! -
Looks good to me mate, what are those two things underneath your stereo?
-
Where abouts in Gwynedd are you mate? You didn't try for the post in Anglesey by any chance did you?

Refurbing split rims bites the big 'un!!!
Smellywelshman replied to Smellywelshman's topic in Off Topic
Will do, once I've manged to onlock my shoulder (after rubbing the damn things so hard!!! Oh, and managed to get to sleep! Ayone elseup at this unholy hour? Got to be in work in 3.5hrs! tut! -
Says it all really. Recently aquired some 3-piece Work Rezax jobbies (off of here) that needed a full refurb. Got a local place to powder coat the centres, but not before I had to split them from the rims 'cos they wouldn't survive the oven (undo 4x36 studs). Get the centres back, wet&dry the rims after grinding (to get rid of kerbing) and polish with a leccy drill. Just got to re-fit the centres and do up the 144blahdy bolts including superdooper strength nutlock (Fridays job:() Oh, and I'm starting to get a headache from the silicone fumes after re-sealing one of them! But they are starting to look good though! Probably get them on by Monday.
