  1. Do you have cruise control fellah? I had some issues with a sticking throttle (bit scary trying to stop a 330BHP rwd poonany grabber with the throttle stuck 3/4 open I can tell thee!!!) and it turned out to be a loose bolt on the throttle housing (cant remember which one now:rolleyes:). Start with the simplest thing first when diagnosing problems (a mantra born from experience!) Hmmm, I seem to be liking my brackets this evening dont I!
  2. AFAIK I was one of the fost uns to get it done, Jezz and his merry band did mine and I'm very happy. Well, let me qualify that. The performance increase is unimaginable. You do, well I do, worry quite a lot about the car. It'l take a long while for me to totally trust it like I did the N/A. It doesn't help that there have been a couple of niggly issues I've had to deal with. If your car is something you cherish, then think carefully. But at the end of the day, TT rules!!!!;)
  3. I have to agree with you:( my hearts in my mouth every time I turn the ignition! It'll be reit. B*llocks to it, I've had enough of fretting to be honest. Cheers Chris.
  4. yup, yesterday. I've just had a bit of a drive and the needle was around the 'third of the way up' mark? Is strange no?!?! What do you think Chris?
  5. Right, update on this. I've now changed the engine coolant temp sensor (including the connector as the wiring was a bit ropey) and put a new thermostat in. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand......... its still the same!! After running the engine long enough for it to reach normal operating temp the gauge is still at around 1/5th of the way up. If I turn off the engine but keep the ignition on I can see the gauge creeping up to around where it should be, but then if I start the engine again and rev it a bit the needle drops back down to the 1/5th point!! What else could it be?? A mechanic took off my steering rack not long ago to fix some play in it. Is there anything he could have 'knocked'?
  6. Smelly(colourblind)welshman+wiring= I was thinking this.... And for the price of them I might as well completely rule out the thermostat as the cause. Got to order a new gasket for it any way! Tricky little bugger to get out aren't they, my wrists just dont bend in the right places!! Had to take the alternator off in the end!!
  7. Well, a set if Vernier calipers set to 8.5mm slide snugly into the gap at 95 degrees. I assume that this means the stats working correctly?
  8. Hmm, Didn't see that bit in the manual!! Doh!!! *runs back to the oven*
  9. Hi guys, Been having some temp reading problems of late (see here http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=148556) and decided to fit a new temp sensor to see if that sorted it (start with the easiest thing and all that). Well, it didn't:rolleyes: So I've removed the thermostat to see what was what. It was fully closed when I took it off and I put it in water and heated that up to check its operating temp (meant to be 82degrees). At 82 it started to move very slightly, and at 88 there was a gap between the rubber and steel parts of approx 1mm. Normal? I turned off the heat and left it in for a few mins and it continued to open to a gap of 4-5mm. Is this normal behaviour? Or is it slow to open and close? And would this cause the symptoms in my previous thread?? Taaaaaa for your input in advance, as always! Rob...
  10. Must try harder!!!! Might have a pop at Michael, see how that affects things!!
  11. Thats a big ol' stamp you got there dude!
  12. Yes........ No........... Yes........... Erm? Conspiracy?
  13. Why not??? We are merely discussing the relative merits of carbon fibre locks and their effects on the perfomance of our vehicles. I could only think that he, sorry, He, would would condone such a discussion!
  14. Dont think carbon fibre locks would work dude!
  15. Stick wi me lad, you wont go far wrong!
  16. I'm gonna take my windscreen out!!! Can't go wrong!!!!
  17. Wow, this thread has grown slightly!! I do love this forum, and I'm sure everybody else does (albeit on varying levels and for different things). But I think that everybody needs a blowout from time to time to stop things becoming too nasty. And threads like this imo are perfect tools for said blowout. Just what I think:)
  18. This was not aimed at you in any way fella!! Sorry if my reference of your thread caused offence, it was not intended. I merely used it as a hobby horse to express my general feelings as to how some threads have progressed of late. I am relatively new to this internet forum lark, so if I have stepped on anyones virtual toes due to my ignorance then I apologise.
  19. By no way is this it matey. I was just trying to highlight something that I thought needed highlighing. I feel all warm inside!
  20. Hello Micheal! It wasnt the honest posts that I was getting at mate. It was the follow up posts/threads to these perceved digs that were the point of my initial problem. I know its a repost, but I think its a good idea that we (the Royal We) periodically remind people that things said on here aren't the 'be all and end all' as it were.
