  3. I've got a pair of legal rear tyres that you can borrow/have if you need them. 265/35/R18 (I think). Might be handy if you can only get hold of bare wheels.
  4. Happpppppy Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiirthday mate:D
  5. Ahh mate!! Gutted for you. I'm halfway through sorting a new(ish) set of alloys after a similar experience. At least no one was hurt, and you're ok. Like you said, could have been a LOT worse. Chin up mate.
  6. Cooome on, someone out there must have a spare thats being used to hold the garage door open or something?!!? Pleeeeeeeezzz?
  7. Just lost the rear end and managed to smack the near side rear wheel into some nicely painted stones in the verge! Could have been a lot worse tho! Has anyone got a rear that is just hanging around that they need to get rid of?? Cheers.
  8. Thats what I did when I fitted my glo dials. No problem at all. Just make sure that you dont hit the fuel gauge needle, 'cos that one doesn't reset its self!
  9. Tell me about it!! I've done a fair amount of the instructing and have to reach a zen-like state each time I look at her car!!
  10. Missus is taking her driving test tomorrow morning. So hopefully I'll have a guaranteed taxi to and from the pub:d:d:d (well, for a couple of months at least;)) Wish her luck everybody!!!
  11. An ex is an ex as far as people you don't know are concerned, but they are ALWAYS off limits to mates!!! Doesn't matter if its a week or 10 years. Always been an unwritten rule in my group of mates and most other people I've spoken to. Only one *ahem* gentleman out of our circle has ever broken said rule, and should I ever meet the little greek cnut again.......well, you know!
  12. Ah well, might as well be me that says it..... everyone else tends to forget seeing as todays what it is and all!! "Happy Birthday to me, happy Birthday to me, happy birthday dear smeeeeeeeeeelllllllllly, happy birthday to me!!"
  13. Hi everybody, Anyone know the part number for a non-facelift TT auto alternator?? Oh and the amp rating? Cheers Rob...
  14. Just found this little bugger on fleabay, any good thee thinketh?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Alternator-LEXUS-LS400-GS300-TOYOTA-Supra_W0QQitemZ230202629600QQihZ013QQcategoryZ100915QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
  15. Oooooo I bloody hope not!! Coolant is fine, alt is dry as a bone and I think its just that it was a duff 'un. I hope. Connections to it are also fine, as far as I can tell any way. The battery is brand new or near enough. Its had a bit of a rough time though with being run down more than eight times due to the last two alternators but that shouldn't affect it that much. should it?! 300 shmakeroos!!! no no no no!!!!
  16. Cheers mate, was going to give you a ring tomorrow, can you get your hands on a new un?
  17. Thought so, the 120 alt fuse is fine as everything else is working (I've managed to blow this fuse before with some drunken spanner wrangling and it knocked the whole car out!) Cheers for the voltage advice though, confirmed what I was thinking. Alt has gone the way of the dodo!! Anybody with any idea as to how much a new 'un will cost??
  18. Hi guys, Right, long story short. Quite a few months ago now, as some may remember, I took my N/A to Silverstone for Jezz and his crew to breathe on it and make it go fast fast fast!! Very soon after I had an intermittent problem with 3 warning lights coming on (battery, cat temp and oil level). and towards the end total loss of power, as in the car would die even when it was running. This turned out to be a farked alternator. I purchased a used one from Jezz/Steve at Silverstone and this solved the problem entirely and its been fine ever since. Last night, I started her up and the same three lights are on, and after 5mins of ticking over she died and wouldn't start again, as in turn key and absolutely nothing. After a night of charging she starts fine. I put a multimeter on the battery and got 12.6v with the car not running, but 12.2v when running! This should be higher when it's running shouldn't it? If the alt was working then shouldn't it be more so that the battery was getting charged? So my questions are:- 1. Am I correct in thinking that the alternator I got off Jezz is now knackered? 2. How much would a brand new one cost me from Mr T? 3. Is there any underlying fault that could cause these alternators to blow? Like a bad earth or something?? Cheers in advance everybody. Rob...
