  1. Made no difference to the performace of the system, just gave me peace of mind that it's running on new clean fluid rather than the brown shite that came out. I'll do a complete gearbox flush next I think, as the fluid in that looks like it could do with a flush.
  2. Been doing a bit of servicing lately. Got round to changing the PAS fluid at the weekend. Not sure I used the best method, but I replaced about 1.6 litres, so should be ok. The car's a '96 and has covered 90,000 miles. By the looks of the fluid it had never been changed, very brown in colour. Worth doing I'd suggest, specially on early cars (10 y.o. +). £17 in fluid and an hour or so faffing about. Job done
  3. The powers that be should ban all religious reference from public places (including this place), 'cause I'm fookin sick of hearing about it. Religion is the single biggest cause of wars (oh, appart from oil.....)
  4. I've been accused of driving a pimp's car, drug dealer's car, and an ice cream van 'sports variant' (white car, white wheels I guess). Strange though, all the people I know who really 'know' cars tend to admire it. That's what counts.
  5. Nic one Nick. I look forward to the reports of racing success. I never had the balls the or money to race. Just out of interest, post up the weight if you get a figure. I'm interested in how close to Yamaha's quoted 'dry' weight the bike is. Oh, and try to stay on the thing......

Mas, how old are you and how much experience have you on the road? Just asking as a 25 year old lad I work just bought an R1 as his first bike. He's got an Elise plus had a few quick cars, done lots of track days in cars, so is quite handy when it comes to speed (in cars). He's been on the road since 17 so 8 years experience. He high-sided at Snetterton on the morning of his first bike track day. Having followed him round the track, he clearly has lots to learn about bikes, let alone his R1. So, fast car experience doesn't equal fast bike experience. (This may work in reverse though, I'll let you know....) In summary, I'd start with a smaller bike and lean how to ride first.

Nice looking bikes, but a bit cramped if you're over 6ft tall. Depends what you're after. If it's looks then no prob's, if it's performance then leave it alone unless you spend all your time in the twisties up against 600s (and you're a decent rider). PS I've only seen 3 bikes fail engines on track days and they were all Ducatis. PPS The Jap bikes in WSB and BSB have to run with restrictors to give the Ducatis a fair chance. Edit:- 1 Litre sportsbikes will eat this alive even if they're only riden half decently.
  8. Laughing so much my 12 year old dughter just came in to see what all the fuss was about.[sHOCK][/sHOCK] Quick switch!!
  9. Didn't your mum warn you to beware of men with cheap brake pads (it used to be sweets / puppies when I was a kid). /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_grin.gif /vbb/images/smilies/bbcode_grin.gif
  10. I spoke to him today, he reckoned he'd dropped a bollock with the price on your pipe, should've been a lot more. You did well there, but he's wised up now.
  11. Cool.Maybe I shouldhave held off longer and made more. Ah well c'est la vie.[GRIN][/GRIN]
  12. Why don't you give it a try? You can always come back if it doesn't work out.
  13. Maybe you should have got off your @rse and bid a bit earlier, instead of just bidding to make a point.[GRIN][/GRIN] I put these up at 8:30ish last night. Semantics? I invited bidding. When I 'booted up' this morning!! I only had one bid, so I accepted it!! Is there a club rule on how long bidding should run? If so I appologise[OOPS][/OOPS].
  14. Sorry IMI. Bidding's closed, see previous post. Thanks anyway.
  15. In Angie's thread! Bidding is now closed.
  16. Yes, but it's not as scary as when the bike does it......[sHOCK][/sHOCK]
  17. For sale, 1 set of front pads (ie 2 pairs of pads). Genuine Toyota. Part number 04465 - 14150 (UK spec). Brand new, boxed, never been fitted. Start bidding at £20 + p&p. I travel between Norwich and Stourbridge once a month so, could deliver if you're along this route.
  18. Could you do me a favour? Tell me what numbers / letters are on the back of the pads? I recently bought some thinking they were J spec, but they look more like UK spec. TIA.
  19. Tasty! I'm doing Mallory on the 23rd with Hottrax. It's a quiet day though, so I'm taking a standard can with me (modded to fit the Yoshimura system) just in case I get 'pulled'. You might struggle to meet the noise reg's.......
  20. Hi, did everything function ok prior to you changing, or was the change bought on by a failure?
  21. I've got one of these on the bike (not sure if it's a yellow box or just similar). Works well, you just need to set it up correctly with the % error, then compare to an accurate source (GPS via satnav). Just out of interest I compared the Supra speedo to satnav. The Supra indicated 80mph = 81 on the GPS / satnav. That's with 285/35 18s on an otherisw stock '96 JDM auto (with LSD, if it makes any difference).
