  1. I'll record it and watch it tomorrow night. I can cut all the ad's out and just see the actual game.
  2. No mate, not me, although it easily could be me (or anyone else with a 1000cc sports bike). Last time I went my old 1100 only pulled about 155 (indicated) on that stretch of road. You tube hadn't been invented and the only riders with onboard videos were top riders. They've started to rent video equipments at track days now, so I may post some vid's later this year.
  3. I went in '85, '86 and '89. Only came off once, I tangled with a mate just before Kate's Cottage. Luckily it was cosmetic damage only. Simulator? No way, I'm claustrophobic!
  4. Make sure you don't 'brim' them, as I did when I first used mine. The pressure built up in the warmth of the car and when I opened the can at the track I got fuel splashed all over the place. Also, if you leave a good air gap in the can it makes the fuel easier to pour. You can tilt the can over and avoid fuel running down the side (a well fitting spout will alleviate this too). HTH
  5. It's only the mountain section (13 or so miles?) that is one way. The rest of the lap (another 24 miles) is 'normal' two way traffic, junctions etc. No limits outside of the towns, but strictly enforced 30's etc elsewhere. So you can feasibly get two guys going for it on one of the long straights, in opposite directions. So 350mph+ closing speeds. Although there's no limit, the police can prosecute for dangerous driving. We saw a 'head on' between an RG500 and BMWK100 whilst we were over there, which resulted in deaths.
  6. Don't forget, this is a road bike, not a race bike. I think the highest recorded speed is 202mph past The Highlander pub. So fast it actually disturbs the hanging pub sign on a still day..... I haven't been since '89 when I had my GSXR1100.
  7. Just to be clear, the road is one way and policed to ensure nobody tries to go the wrong way. The road is maintained to allow racing, so no nasty potholes or the like. All junctions are closed (on this, the mountain section), so you cannot join or leave the road via any side roads. Join at one end, leave at the other. There are, as Pete pointed out, risks of hitting debris etc, but no more so than on a normal track day or the Ring (in fact, there are less blind bends / crests than the Ring IIRC). It's one of the only places where you can 'push on' on a normal road. Maybe it's dangerous, but it beats trying to top out on the M1.....
  8. .....and all with the blessing of the local police. Mad Sunday is brilliant. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XE86N5sEsW0
  9. You'll need more than 2l of engine oil mate:)
  10. I use a metal one. Not sure what the regs are for large plastic containers for petrol.
  11. You mean Groeg am Byth, surely? Well done to Wales.
  12. Yep, sit-ups. Aim for five minutes a day (start with as many as you can do and work up from there). In a few weeks you'll see a difference.
  13. Well done mate, I bet you're thinner than a racing snake now?
  14. Are you feeling alright? You look ill:D How tall are you?
  15. You're welcome mate:) They're just outside Silver City (south west NM), about 1900 m elevation. I don't know the area, just looked on Google Earth:D
  16. We lived in a modest semi, no fine art or jewels on show, just a 2nd hand tv. Someone still tried to break in through the patio door.
  17. Not at all. Me, my sister and my brother all moved away (me and my brother for work, my sister retired to Devon, at 40:blink:). Both pairs of grand parents died within a couple of years and my parents found themselves alone in the Midlands. So they sold everything (except the car, which they left here to use when visiting). They went to the US and bought a 36' motor home, then travelled round for 2 years or so. They planned to then go to Aus and do the same, but came across an area in New Mexico which they liked. They also both felt healthier and found breathing more easy (dad has asthma, mum had TB when she was younger, so hasn't got full lung capacity). Thinner air in NM due to higher altitude / less pollution I guess? So they bought a house and now live there (see pic). We see them a couple of times a year.
  18. Been here 9 years and love it. 0 cars stolen or broken into 0 attempted break-ins on the house Lived on the outskirts of Brum previously 2 cars stolen, 2 bikes stolen, 2 cars broken into 1 attempted burglary on the house Says it all really.
  19. I've still got kids at school, so the option's not there for me (yet....). My parents baled out a couple of years ago to live in the US. They have no intention of coming back. My quality of life is fine, so maybe the view point depends on where you live in the UK. Good luck.
  20. Maybe it's a bit O.T.T., but I see nothing wrong with national pride.
  21. I have pride in my nationality, you have pride in yours. The difference between us is I have the decency to respect your national pride. Maybe this tolerance is what's ruining this country? PS good luck in the rugby, may the best team win.
