Rob W's Supra - Project Thread * Pic Heavy *
mwilkinson replied to Rob W's topic in mkiv Supra Projects
This is a work of art Rob. All the hard work is paying off. -
I never had this problem with single and stock viscous fan. Do you have an uprated oil cooler?
-
I reapply quite frequently, but only because I'm a fuss pot. It definately lasts a month or so, but I don't think it would compete with the GTechniq product mentioned above.
-
I've always used the Poorboy's wheel sealant. Can't really tell you if it's good or bad as I've not used many others to compare it to. But it is, or was, well regarded.

Looking for an OEM rear tow hook. Please PM me if you have one and how much you would like for it. Thanks.

Hi Katie, I'm afraid I can't assist as my car is currently in a thousand pieces being rebuilt. I've copied your message and posted it on a mkiv Supra WhatsApp community to see if anyone on there can assist you. Good luck.

Thanks Popping down on Monday to see it in the flesh and drop off bumpers, new front wings etc.

Great work Rob. I bought the PHR tool for the bushes, but your contraption is it's equal. You've reminded me I need to order the replacement fuel and brake line clips. -

You should only need to swap over the top plate with the one from your original compressor. See here in my thread. I also bought a new compressor from Rock Auto. I've not actually fitted it yet though. https://www.mkivsupra.net/topic/219082-project-procrastination/page/11/

Looking good

More updates. Kane now has the car to himself again and it has been prepped and given a Novol epoxy primer coat.
-
Wow that much! You've got a fair few miles left of the engine run in period to go. Mine is my daily driver, so a round trip to the office is just over 150 miles a day. If I could offer any advice it would be to get the car PPF'd, especially if you plan on keeping it for some time. They are absolute stone magnets!

How are you enjoying the GR Supra? I didn't know you could spec tan interiors? Is that only for the manual? I've had my GR Supra for just over 18 months now and love it. I've just done over 20k miles too.

More updates now that the bulk of the metal working is now done. Unfortunately James had no choice but to repair the damaged chassis rails as these turned out to be discontinued. I think he has done an amazing job considering how mangled they looked before Bottom of the door has been sorted, luckily it was just the return of the outer skin on the inside edge and hadn't affected the bottom of the outer door skin. Another casualty of the modification war had been the end of the radiator mount on the near side of the engine bay.

She will definately be a fair weather car after all this work is done.

James at Retro Roadsports has been doing some work on the car today. He's unrolled the left hand side rear wheel arch and trimed it instead. He has also been working on a beautiful dent to the left rear quarter I put in the car by reversing into a dismantled engine stand in my old garage. It was this damage that started the whole rebuild project. This is very pleasing to see removed from the car. These images show the slapping, shrinking and blocking of the damaged area to get the dents out.

Did you get any foam coming out of the vents? The foam could have collapsed and temporarily jammed the blend door / motor too. When I reconditioned my HVAC all the foam was shot.

A few pictures from today. Mainly the repair of a number of non-OEM holes put into the shell for aftermarket equipment. This is a hole for the factory bonnet sensor, but I no longer need this and can take a feed of the bonnet latch sensor. Kane also started working on the bonnet, cleaned up and prepared for epoxy primer. Good news is that this is in good condition.

Lee P will be getting an email shortly. Thanks Rob.

Car is now on the rotisserie and Kane has had his first proper look over the shell. A couple of gremlins have emerged. Rusted out seam on the bottom of the passengers door. This was entirely unexpected. I knew I had some chassis rail damage on the drivers side that had deformed the floor slightly, but it also looks like we've suffered a little forklift damage at the dippers too on this and the other side of the car. We are looking to see if we can source a few of the chassis rail parts to simply swap out versus try and repair. Fingers crossed. So a bit more work to do now on the chassis rails and floor pans to get them back into shape.

Bummer. One of my rears did the same.

The rears for a facelift were available a year or so ago, fronts haven't been for awhile. Are yours beyond repair / refurb?
