1. Thing is, a normal wire link can't be put in by the same machine as all the other bits
2. Price reduced to £430. Surely that makes it the cheapest mint D80 with such a lens around! (And that's ignoring the card and filter!) Even so, I'll consider sensible offers on the bundle
3. They'll be on a pushbike now then Can't think of anything better than a dremel, but one thought - would it help to slice the top off the cap first so you can see better? (To avoid damaging the threads).
4. Bump... a UV filter is now included
5. Quick test pics, one each at 18, 35, 52, 70 and 105mm. (Yes, I know it's focussed on the fence in the last one, but it's started raining again so I can't redo right now!)
6. Doubt it was the 18-105 because it's quite a recent lens But bodies definately go down in price quite quickly. Looking at completed listings the D70 body goes for a random price between 160 and 200 (often not many bidders), and then there's a fair few with an 18-70mm (was that the kit lens?) sold for about 250-ish.
7. I haven't used the lens at all, as I only bought it to make this a ready-to-shoot setup. But I guess I should check it works at least - is there a particular aspect of it you'd like to check out? To be honest, I expected a DSLR newbie rather than an upgrader, at this price! I'm tempted to put you off this and make you save up for a D90 and 18-200mm lens like I've got, I think you'd make good use of such a setup I don't know enough about the D70 to comment on how much of a step up the D80 would be, but going from D80 to D90 I'm not disappointed - it's not so much that anything's taken a giant leap forward, rather that lots of minor improvements add up. I would've been quite happy to continue using my D80 for a good while longer, but I'm wagering that the upgrade to the D90 (when it comes) won't be as much of a step forward, so I decided to upgrade now.
8. I've just upgraded to a D90, so I'm selling my Nikon D80 bundled with the 18-105mm lens that came with the D90 kit. D80 body... Bought new in March 2007, approx. 3500 shutter actuations. In virtually as new condition, everything works perfectly. All standard accessories included (strap, battery, charger, cables etc). 18-105mm zoom lens... Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. VR = Vibration Reduction, a very useful feature with a zoom. Brand spanking new!! Comes with a bag and a hood. Bonus items... SanDisk Extreme III 2GB SD memory card. Hoya 67mm UV filter. The price is based on what I see D80's in great condition selling for (about £325 seems fair, but one just sold on ebay for £380!), plus what I effectively paid for the lens (about £125 - the cheapest I've seen to buy this lens new separately is about £200). £450 £430 + postage. 9. Thor's diagram above looks correct and good to go... if you can't suss it out from that maybe you shouldn't cut wires (Honestly not trying to put you down, but I can't think of a better way to explain it than that diagram does )
10. Poor guy At least he went somewhere quiet to do it. Recently a woman jumped from a tower right in the centre of Oxford, could well have been up to 100 people who saw it, and it's so busy round there it's a wonder she didn't land on someone. http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/search/4452506.Eyewitnesses_tell_of_Carfax_death_plunge/
11. Think you might be right and wrong - right if you're in manu mode, but in full auto mode and 'D' it would start off in 1st, wouldn't it?
12. Maybe... since I didn't have an LSD in my Soarer, I had a little spin of one wheel on almost every run at about 3500rpm in 1st. Looking at the emanage logs, my reaction to that was to lift off to 90% throttle for 1/4 of a second, then back on full - I was really surprised at how consistently I was doing it!! On the other hand, I did kill my gearbox that day so I think a little less than 2k would be safer.
13. I dunno... try both on the day and see what times you get! That's the great thing about days like SP, you'll get plenty of runs to try things out
14. And I know very little about Canon kit - once you've spent a tidy sum on lenses you don't change camp without a very good reason!! The Nikon 18-105 is supposed to be a pretty nice lens, with VR (aka IS ), easily 200 quids worth. I'm thinking that I'd be most likely to find a buyer new to DSLRs, so a ready-to-shoot package with memory card seems the way to go. Thanks for the help
15. Very handy, ta! Looks like £630 is a pretty good price then. That's really good of you to think of doing that reckon you're right though about postage. As for selling the D80, I'm wondering about getting the D90 with the 18-105 VR kit lens, and selling it with the D80 - do you reckon that would make for an easier sale or not? I guess I'd try for £250 for the D80 body only, or £400 with the lens. Wouldn't make me any money on the lens, but it would be a nice discount for the buyer
16. That's where I bought my D80, was a very good price then. They've got the D90 listed at £685 - even bartering hard I doubt they'd beat £630 by much
17. I knew I shouldn't have tried out the D90, it's tempting me into an upgrade sooner than I planned! Seems silly really, because I already have the D80, but the better light meter, active d-lighting and bigger brighter screen make it (sort of) worth it. Plus lots of incremental improvements as well. But where can I get one for a good price? I want to be sure I get the proper UK model so the warranty is hassle free, and the best I've seen so far is £630 at CameraBox. It's advertised at a couple of places for less than £500, but I'm assuming those are grey imports. Anyone know of any better deals out there?

Greddy BCC/FCD

I wasn't suggesting they didn't know their stuff, thinking more along the lines of a misunderstanding somewhere, as in they thought you meant SLD (or something like it) Anyway, you're fine, it will fit
19. Absolute godsend that program I recently built a new PC, and very occaisionally (once a week roughly) got a blue screen crash for no reason Since it was 1066MHz RAM I knew I might have to raise the voltage for it, so I tried one step up. Memtest still found an error, but not until it had been running for over an hour! Next step up seems to have got it running 100% right now Anyways, could it be something like that in your case?

Greddy BCC/FCD

I wonder, could he be confusing BCC/FCD with an SLD (speed delimiter)? Because unlike FCDs they do come in different versions for each transmission.
21. Doesn't bother me Reckon it's been changed? Or did Toyota build some not-quite-fully-facelift models at the time of the changeover?
22. When it comes to lunatics on the road, I'd rather they were in front where I can see 'em! Must confess, I squeeze on motorways and DCs though
23. It's only one tree. http://www.kilbelinlandscaping.com/images/tree1.jpg Oops!
