    1998 BMW 318iS

Okies, now I've bought my first Supra its time to sell the Beamer.... Everything as before but it now comes with a 12 month MOT and a private plate worth 295 quid!!! Milage currently a baw hair under 71.5k. I've also reduced the price for a quick sell, hopefully.... 4600 ono.
  6. I'm needing to replace my discs and pads in the next few weeks on my newly bought SZ-R, they are still Jap spec brakes. Who is the best company to approach for discs and good pads and what sort of cost am I looking at? Also, what is the rough cost of upgrading to UK spec brakes and what are the limitations of doing it? Cheers all.
  7. its a 1995 SZ-R, silver, with an HKS induction kit, R*SR exhaust (already set nest doors car alarm off.... ), pretty stock really, just makes a nice noise and lovelly drive
  8. Well, after months of waiting and tales of "so close yet so far", today I finally purchased my first Supra, and you know what, I just cant get the smile off my face!!!!! I'll be driving like a grandad to get used to it but every time I look at it I just wanna drive some more!!! This means I can finally be accpeted as a true member and not one of the BMW drivers out there.... beware of them all!!!! Enjoy yours cars, I certainly am!!

    Funny :)

You should all be worried.... Along with some other people on the site, I'm an aircraft engineer [sHOCK][/sHOCK] and these responses to the tech log problems are standard stock. If a problem is registered, we have to write down the problem, what we done to overcome the problem and what the condition of the the problem is now. I had one before, the pilot wrote "Radio tuning knob on pilots Radio Control Panel stiff to operate"... I checked it and it was fine, so I responded with "Radio tuning knob on pilots RCP checked satis, nill faults, suggest more Corn Flakes for breakfast" A few days later I got pulled into the office and was told to stop being a wise ass
  10. I'm currently doing the same thing but taking the plates off my BMW... in your case the seller of the car has to go to a local DVLA office with his V5, tax and MOT cert (sometimes the cherished reg cert is needed too just incase)... the local office will restamp part 10 of the original V5 form (New Keeper Supplement) with the new regy which he/she can then give to you if you purchase the car. In the meantime the DVLA will be issuing a new V5 back to your seller (approx 2 weeks), which he/she will then have to fill out with your details (new owner). You will then recieve the V5 form with your details on it (again in about 2 weeks)... as clear as mud?? The problem you'll have is when the current owner gives you pt 10 of the V5, you'll only have that to look at. If possible I would have a look at the full V5 before he/she heads to the DVLA so you can check it's all in order. Also, make sure the MOT is properly stamped with the new regy. It takes a while and so far I can't find any quick way of doing it, yet.....
  11. Hmmmm, didn't think about that one... although it's a '95 SZ so I'm guessing it'll prob be needing the cats...

  13. Righty, another brain teaser for all of you... I'm looking to buy my 1st Sup that has had one cat removed and one still in.... now I was having a think about this and trying to work out if it was a good or bad thing. Is it better to... Take out the last cat and run it until MOT time? (then hope the emmissions will pass under one cat) Leave the cat in and run it like normal? (although we have a high exhaust flow through a single cat) Put in the other cat and run it like Toyota designed? Also, its got a R*SR exhaust system, so will adding/removing cats have much difference to the power output or noise levels??
  14. Hmmm, have checked using a mixture of different cards and different lenses and can definately say that it is the lens which is at fault.... it will be an urgent phonecall to Sigma tomorrow morning to try and get a replacement in time for Friday..... if not it'll be bol*ocks pictures from me!!!
  15. Checked the memory card, the aperture lock ring, removed the battery and installed my backup, tried 3 other memory cards, still showing -e-..... tried it with different lenses and it works fine, I'm guessing lens issues here.....
  16. Hey chaps... I'm heading to Farnborough Air Show on Friday and I was getting my photography gear ready and for some reason my telephoto lens aint working.... Any ideas what's causing it?? It's a Nikon D70 with updated firmware coupled with a Sigma 100-300mm IX EX DG f4 lens.... the camera is flashing "-E-" and no matter what I do I cant get the camera to lock into the lens CPU.....
  17. Reminds me of the time I was making an uber-sized chillie for my flatmates and I... deciding that tabasco sauce was needed, I took the wrapping off a brand new bottle and took off the lid.... thinking I needed a wooden spoon to stir while I put the sauce in I placed the bottle down onto the kitchen worksurface with a bit too much force.... out flew a large globule of tabasco sauce and it landed straight into my right eye.....[sHOCK][/sHOCK] I was panicking and trying nor to blink but after about 40 secs the burning sensation started and then all hell broke loose.... thankfully I had "borrowed" eye wash canisters from work so they were quickly deployed... it took 4 days for the staining to come out of my eye ball.....
  18. Okies, I know it's a repost, but I am now getting slighlty desperate with it now..... I need the funds from the sale of my car to pay for my first Supra... It's a BMW 318iS coupe in metallic gunmetal blue/grey (cleaned weekly, polished monthly) 71,000 miles with full service history (either BMW or specialist) MOT 09/2006 (cant think of anything to stop it passing) TAX 02/2007 Full black leather interior (fed 3 times this year already to keep it nice and supple) 6cd autochanger in the boot (BMW original) Air con (nice and cold) E/W, E/M 10 spoke alloys (rear rubber at approx 5mm, front at 7mm = plenty of miles left in 'em) Overall in excellent condition, not had a problem since I've had it, very reliable. As for the bad things....there is a tiny chip in the windscreen (approx 2mm) but that was repaired thanks to RAC Autowindsceens, a couple of stone chips around the front of the car, a couple of very small (less than 5p sized) light dents in the door...classic supermarket carpark dints, nothing major and thats it. Oh, and before the jokes come out again, yes it does come with indicators AND mirrors and YES I do know where they are and what they do..... Anyways, Im asking for 4800 ovno.
  19. Okies, after a few months of waiting I've nearly got myself into a positon to buy my first Supra (woohooo ). Despite the heart ruling over the head, I thought it would be best if I done some ground work and get the costs of running the thing sorted (boooo ), so insurance was top of the list... Now for a little background.... I'm a sinlge male, 23 years old with no points or claims, 4 years no claims, employed as an aero engineer, the car will be sitting on a quiet residential road (in Nottingham I hasten to add..... ) and I'm looking to insure a '95 Supra SZ manual with upgraded exhaust package and alloy wheels worth about 5k.... so far the quotes (fully comp) I have recieved are.... Adrian Flux = 1989 quid Elephant = 2053 (and thats not even the right car!!) Yes! = 1205 (but again, that is for a mkiii.... ) Some other company who I cant remember = 4943 (have they just thought of a number, tripled it and added another grand?!?!?!) So, I thought I would get in touch with our friends at Sky Insurance, after a helpfull conversation with a chap called Scott they came up with a price of 956 quid....okies, they have so far been the cheapest but I thought it would be cheaper than that surely? OK, it will be parked on a road in Nottingham which won't help things but its still nearly a grand!!! Without being too nosey, is there anyone else in my position and getting a good deal or is that just how the market is these days?? Answers on a postcard please!!
  20. I'll try make an appearance too... sadly I've still not got my Supra so look out for a funny looking Scotsman driving a Beamer......
  21. Ello... I'm after my first Supra and most of the cash was coming from selling my 318iS coupe.... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=70650 I dont know if you would be interested if you are looking for some more space, but the boot is pretty big and you can quite easily fit 4 adults in it! To be honest, I was after an N/A due to me doing quite a few miles a week, but perhaps my arm could be twisted.... If you want more info pm me. Cheers
