  1. It does sound like a bad earth problem to me. I'll put money on the earth strap to the chassis. Clean it up and report back.
  2. I agree if you're after a performance gain, there's nothin hybrids can really offer without other supporting mods, but as replacement for blow old J-specs, they're the better option if you can't afford 2k on new J-specs.
  3. Your rear light clusters aren't facelift either, still I'm just nit picking now, lovely looking supe.
  4. using the supe everyday is just too expensive nowadays. Also, I only like to use her on weekends and meets. It makes you realise how special the supra is when you only drive them on occasions
  5. Nice mate I like that, interesting front lip, I don't recognise it. The wheels with red stripe look nice as well against the red calipers. Speaking of calipers, you also have the bigger UK spec brakes on there and what appears to be facelift headlamps......very nice
  6. Do youlive in your supra? Spotted you this morning in the supra, I was on the r6 going the other way, I waved but think you may have missed me........my god I was freezing.
  7. I was talking to a member at a recent meet who had CR turbos refurb his J/spec ones for £600. This replaced all the seals and ceramic parts with steel. I've phoned them and confirmed this price is correct. His turbos run perfectly BTW. It's all well and good suggesting new turbos from toyota, but you're looking at 2k to replace both of them. 2k to me doesn't sound financially sound when replacing for stock units, if you're spending that amount of money you may want to look small single instead for a bit more money. If the housings are cracked, then the best port IMO is to get some hybrids from Mr Whiffen, he can supply and fit the stage 1's for around £1500
  8. The are the normal J-spec brakes. Ultralites will not fit over the bigger brake option.
  9. What the hell has that car been doing all its life!!! Nice purchase!
  10. That's fair enough mate, and good luck to you. I guess it's just that painting a car is an artform that I believe takes years to perfect. There's so many variables to take into consideration, thats only made considerably harder when you factor in pearl paint. I've seen DIY spray jobs in the past, and the only ones that looked good, were the ones carried out by people that have been doing it for years.
  11. Nice mate, love that colour.
  12. They look like the vortex R's, but they look darker, maybe they've been reconditioned? (it's not unreasonable seeing as they corrode and wear faster than the tyres wrapped around them )
  13. I don't think it's his starter motor as it starts when he's got a booster pack on it. If there is nothing obvious with lights staying on etc, maybe try checking all the fuses with a multimeter with the ignition off. If one of them is live when it shouldn't be, I'd say thats your problem. Failing that, disconnect the alarm with the multiplug plug on the siren unit, then leave it overnight again. Another thing I've read recently, is a dodgy central locking motor constantly pushing to keep the door in the lock position, something like this could drain the battery over time, but the motor would probably be letting off some funny smells by now. The last one is seat adjustment motors, they are constantly live even with no ignition on, disconnect it and see what happens.
  14. Its BS mate, I pay more than that for parts alone on a full service. They'll pick the car up, change the oil with some cheap halford sludge, then phone you with a list of apparent expensive repairs. I'm sure someone will be along soon to recommend a decent local indy garage who know supras.
  15. Having read through the thread since my last comment, I thought I'd post my hypothesis on a couple of things (I'm not hugely technically minded, so feel free to prove wrong, put straight, or tell to piss off ) 1) Potential damage to block from snapped cam -: I'd imaging that most of the filings from the damaged cam will have been caught by the valve stem seals, so shouldn't have managed to make their way into the lower part of the engine. Though I accept that some of them could have gone down the gallerys into the sump, but to then have them picked up and spread round the engine by the oil pickup seems unlikely in my mind. 2) no compression on number 1 :- When a cam is tightened down, it has to be done in a sequence to make sure there is even pressure so it doesn't snap, so if a cam has snapped. Could it be feasible that the cam is now being held down over number 1 lower, as it snapped at number 6, therefore could it be holding the valve open slightly causing your low compression?
  16. His quote list in his sig makes me laugh
  17. Very nice, is it me, or are the wing indicators really low down the wings?
  18. Best, both my supras (auto and 6sp both as good as each other). Worst, 1983 VW polo coupe. I still loved it though, it was my first car. I don't think it matters what your first car is, just because its a car, its enough to make you love it. Wrote it off in two days, repaired it, then sold it for more than I bought it for
  19. In your build thread, you car has a single, have you got a stock engine in there now?
  20. Crazy. Fast enthusiastic driving is one thing, out and out dangerous driving is another. really sad thing is, it won't be him that gets killed, it'll be an innocent third party that he clips into the barrier.
  21. Can you get full lock with the steering?, the front wheels are massive! It looks awesome BTW
