  1. Mine was random puffs mate, where it wouldn't do it for days, then gradually, it got more consistant.
  2. Husband and wife at home getting ready for bed when the husband says, "why do I get an erection, when I stand in front of the mirror naked", wife replies "because you're a c*nt"
  3. if you can get it to do the problem when the boost reaches a set level in any gear, then you should be ok.
  4. I'm not knowledgable on FCD's as my car has a mines ECU with built in fuel cut. But as far as I know, FCD's are adjustable. Your FCD might be set to exactly the limit of your peak boost, so a slight spike will hit fuel cut. lowering the boost slightly will tell you straight away if it stops doing it, that it's hitting fuel cut, and you might want to adjust the FCD up a bit.
  5. If you lower the boost controller down to say 1.1, does it still do it?
  6. Right, seems you have two seperate problems. 1st and most simple is that your battery sounds dead. The oil everywhere doesn't mean it's leaking from everywhere, is probably leakking somewhere and being flung about by one of the pulleys, my money is on your front main seal. Get some pics anyway and I'll try to diagnose it better.
  7. When you had the MOT done, did they fit the second cat to pass emmissions.? If so, I reckon they've left your RR out.
  8. Check for fault codes mate. Especially with the triangle coming on.
  9. Ok, mine has been cured with refurbed turbos, all is smokeless again in the world of Pistonbroke...............good times
  10. The refurb with uprated internals came to £839. What I suggest you do is get a qritten quote from them via email or post and nail them to a price. They messed me around a bit and the end price rose substantially. Can't knock their work though, they came back looking like brand new turbos with new actuators attached. As for the UK equivalent, no, they're not the same as UK's. I think UK's have a larger wastgate to bleed excess boost, whereas the J'specs don't. UK's also have slightly smaller compressors to compensate for the steel internals. My 'hybrids' have steel throughout with new bearings and seals along with a load of other gubbins I don't understand. As for more lag with steel internals, can't say I've noticed any difference. Running the car at 1.2 like my ceramic Jspecs, the car feels exactly the same. Only discernable difference that I can hear is that the turbo chatter seems to last longer when coming off boost. Bear with my poor explanation, it used to go "vroo chu chu chu". Now it goes "vro chu chu chu chu chu chu"
  11. Well, picked the beast up from Chris this afternoon. First impression when I round the corner into his driveway is that my car is absolutely immaculate, Chris had given her a good going over, cleaned the interior up, and even put a blue magic tree in there. Best was yet to come though, pop the hood, and the heart is exposed, all her ventricles are polished up a treat with brand new blue vac pipe throughout. The inner wings and front end have all been cleaned up, transforming it from 15 years of road grime into a true show and shine contestant. The best was yet to come though, fire up the engine and that distinctive 2jz tone echos around masking all other background noise for a substantial radius. We decide to test the new tubbies and go for a little hoon. Once warmed up, I give it some stick, 1 bar is seen on the gauge with the distinctive second turbo surge at around the 4k mark, so all seems good. I pull over and decide to up the controller for my 1.2 bar setting . We pull out again and I give it some stick again, yet we still only see 1 bar. I say to Chris straight away that the solenoid hoses are probably the wrong way around, so we pull over again and Chris swaps the hoses over. Once Chris fights with two hoses between 2 red hot turbos, he finally gets them on. We pull out again and wait for the opportune moment........I plant it in second and 1.48 flashes up on the gauge ........"best turn that down again me thinks" End result, not one hint of smoke, stronger turbos, clean car/engine/interior........its soooo good to be back in the supra again. I can't thank Chris enough, he went above and beyond the call IMO, and I thoroughly recommend his services. He's a true enthusiast that takes an immeasurable amount of pride in his work. Thanks again Chris, you're a legend.
  12. Your singling my old red?, looking forward to it mate
  13. Been round to see the old girl today, Chris has almost finished working his magic, and is confident I'll have her back tomorrow Took some pics to make this thread remotely interesting for the rest of you..... and I know how you like pics Also took a pic of Chris's new grooved front brake discs
  14. I've googled it, and can't find any info on it being OEM.
  15. I should hopefully have the car back sunday, I'll let you know then
  16. Sunday mate..........hopefully
  17. Thanks everyone. I was telling Chris yesterday how much I'm looking forward to getting her back, can't bloomin wait
  18. not so much a mod, but I'm not a fan of those big black plastic number plate surround things.
  19. That does look like a nice example, I like what he's done with the active spoiler
  20. Does it make a difference that his turbos are UK spec. What noise are you getting mate?
  21. Patience young padawan, wheels, bodykits etc etc are choices that shouldn't be rushed. Get the car, enjoy it for a while first. See a few more supras in the flesh to give you some ideas. What you think looks good in your head, you might find doesn't work well in real life. There's nothing wrong with your prospective purchase, so there's no need for emergency surgery.
  22. No problem matey Take note Dan, here's a fine example of how well this machine has probably been looked after. He's repairing it, so the car he sells is a nice example, many run of the mill sellers would just knock that off the asking price.
  23. The second one made me laugh....."no expense spared", O rly?
  24. pics? Do the eggs change colour too ?
