  1. Are there no owners local to Stonkin that can go round his house and swap ignitors over? This would save him hours of messing with random guessing and wire wiggling. If I was closer, I'd come up mate.
  2. The above documentary was just shown on more 4. I have to say, it's one of the best car nut films I've ever seen. I thoroughly recommend you watch it. No piece of of film I've ever seen captures the love for cars as well as this one, as sad as it sounds, I had a lump in my throat in places. I'm confident every single member of this forum will be able to connect with every word that's said. It highlights perfectly the irrational bond you get with a machine. I suggest you find out when it's next on and make a note in your diary. In one part, a psychiatrist is explaining why people bond with cars on a personal level, and his quote is brilliant. I can't remember it word for word. But it's something like. "Your car symbolises a thread of continuity in your life, it's a symbol of where you've been, where you are, and where you're going".
  3. That is some crappy luck........still, the engine would have blown up soon anyway
  4. 35 10j rear isn't weak They're also not staggered.
  5. For those who want the best quality one recorded, the HD version is on BBC HD @ 2200
  6. my boost is hugely affected by the heat. I'm thinking of getting a cold air spray kit for my intercooler come supra pod day.
  7. Hmm, well that doesn't explain why my car boosted fully in first before the hybrids went on, but hey ho. I'll try booting it from 15mph and see what happens.
  8. Right, the test then is to drive at 12-15mph in 1st, then plant it
  9. Seems to have had no effect at all. Maybe i'll resign to the chance its one of the perks of steel hybrids.
  10. Ecu reset did not work, its boosting but not until 5500rpm. Im thinking its just down to the laggier hybrids.
  11. That video I posted shows the spring pressure being adjusted with the results on a rolling road. I'll have a play with it later. I'll put it on 10psi and see if it makes any difference to the boosting.
  12. Hmm, my issue is since having hybrids fitted, I've had new actuators too. I think they must be a bit stiffer than the originals, as I'm not seeing full boost in 1st gear. All the other gears are fine. I don't get the second turbo rush until about 5500rpm in 1st, though occasionally, I don't get it at all. The way the boost controller plumbs in, IIRC, is that one of the actuators is blocked off one end, with the controller plumbed into the turbo and the other end of the actuator (where the AEM manual would say plumb to the wastegate). If this actuator is running off a pressure level as the spring would, my thought process is that adjusting the spring pressure on the controller would have the same effect......or am I way off?
  13. My AEM tru boost has an adjustment option to change the wastegate spring pressure. It apparently helps with turbo spool time. As seen here, http://www.youtube.com/user/AEMpowerTV#p/c/B4534133ED01A9D3/2/aDzx2oW0cak I've not played about with this part of the gauge, and as far as I'm aware, it still set at 1psi. The video suggests setting it a couple of psi below the known wastegate spring pressure, but I've no idea what this is. I'm a bit confused with the whole spring pressure thing, and it's a bit over my head. So my question is this, is it worth me fettling with this option, or should I just leave it be.?
  14. Loudest I've heard is JamieP's 5" straight through custom jobby, but the loudest off the shelf is the Nurspec R IIRC. I have a 5zigen fireball exhaust with no cats and no baffles.......thank god it's just a weekend car or my neighbours would have killed me by now
  15. The mines ECU is a bit if an unknown. It's not remappable, its basically a stock ecu that's ben fettled. Mines ECU's don't need a fuel cut defender, and do some trickery with the timing IIRC.
  16. Further to this thread, mine has started doing it since having hybrids fitted. Someone else mentioned it doing it after fitting a fmic. I reckon a change in induction system may benefit an ecu reset. Ill do it tonight and report back.
  17. They won't match, the 10k's only seem that blue when you take a piccy of them, or if they are being filmed. In the flesh, they seem very very white. Go with something like this for your side lights. http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/501194t10-anti-bulb-warning-xenon-white-wide-angle-leds-p-2177.html
  18. As much as it is your choice what you do to your car, I can see one of two things happening. 1) Your engine is going to commit hara kiri without some fuel control (your stock ECU will not compensate for nitrous) 2) You're going to crash it......spectacularly.
