  1. Well, I've never heard of anyone getting done for loud exhausts, sure there are legal limits, but the cops do not carry the testing equipment to prove or dissprove the noise levels, there are also so many other mitigating factors, background noise, large buildings will reverbirate noise and increase level, (tunnel effect). You'd have to be really unlucky to get a fine issued for a loud exhaust. There would usually be other reasons behind the officers actions, such as "you were driving like your arse was on fire". Even if one did give you a ticket for something so trivial, I would argue it in court, there is no way you will lose.
  2. Its pretty obvious when coolant leaks due to the residue it leaves, if there is no residue showing then you may have simply had an air lock in it, did you turn the heaters on when you were filling the coolant? If not, then the matrix was probably empty until you turned the heaters on in which case, the water from the tank has dissapeared into the matrix.
  3. Was a good turn out in the end, thanks for welcoming me into your group guys, makes it a lot more fun when your with like minded enthusiasts, that was by far the warmest welcome into any group of gearheads I've known, you seem like a really decent bunch . Heres a few piccys I took before the batteries died in my camera. Sorry about the quality, I didn't have the camera set up right for the lighting conditions so I've had to adjust the contrast which has made them a bit grainy. Thanks for the compliments on my car, (and thanks for letting me know I don't have an LSD, something else to save up for )
  4. This pisses me off almost as much as a petrol strike, getting ready to go to bluewater tonight so the car cleaning commenced earlier, I knew the hose pipe ban was on so I used my bucket and filled it up about 10 times to clean my car, didn't stop my elderly neighbours coming out and giving their 2ps worth, " you do realise theres a hose pipe ban don't you", they say, "do you see a hose pipe madam"? I replied, I swear I used more water using just buckets than I would do normally with a hose. Thing is, I really enjoy methodically cleaning my car once a week for about 4 hours a time, then cruising about with that new car feeling when it looks super shiney. Am I alone in this or do you lot feel the same?
  5. I'll make an appearance at bluewater tonight. Any excuse to show off the new toy. I won't be able to make it to the convoy meet before hand as I'm coming from the other direction, but I'll see you there. I'm gonna print out 'pistonbroke' on a piece of paper and put behind the windscreen, at least then you know which one is mine. Oh, and just so people don't have to call me pistonbroke, my name is Dan. See you there chaps.
  6. As you lot may know, I've just bought me a mighty fine TT Supra. I'm using mine as an everyday car but was wondering how many other people do as well? I ask this because I rarely see another one on the road, and was thinking that people may only have them as a weekend bit of fun.
  7. My god!!!, Kudos to you man, I've been browsing the forums for info as I'm a new owner and came across this thread. I was a mechanic for 5 years and the stuff you were talking about went straight over my head, how could you ever know all this stuff?? I pray to god I never have any greif with the turbos on mine, I wouldn't know where to start. Well done Steviekid, you've got some serious skills
  8. Thanks for the compliments guys, I've just been out banging huge nailes into the overhanging support beams in my garage to hang the mountain bikes on. Its done but I must say, I'm a bit worried about them being knocked off and landing on the supra. I've never been to the ACE Cafe meet, I usually go to the Bluewater one though. Do any of you lot go there? Oh, and what does the active front spoiler look like?, I don't think I have one. Its the twin turbo one as well, so its all good
  9. Check out my new toy, I can't stop grinning. I'm lovin it!! I can certainly see what all the fuss is about with these cars, it drives beautifully, looks even better, goes like stink. The only down side is its making me grin like an idiot, oh, and its left no room in my garage for anything else but itself. The missus will have to get used to the mountain bikes being in the house.
  10. Due to the fact that im new to this site, I feel the need to contribute to you all for all the fine advice and info I've gained from your efforts. I've searched the site to see if these have been posted but I found nothing. These videos are one of the factors that swung the need to purchase a TT supra. Enjoy............. http://supra.sysadmin-racing.com/ just right click, save target as on the links. Further to this, once I get my paws on my Supra, I'll take some pictures of it with my missus standing seductivley next to it with a loaf of bread on her head, I'm not sure why there is this odd fetish going around this forum, but its my way of saying thankyou.
  11. The car still has both cats in place, along with all the sound deadening, and like I said, its still got the standard air filter box. Thanks for the replies fellas. I think its just the way its meant to be. After a short while, I'll no doubt change this and take one of the cats out, new apexi filter kit and dump valve, what can I say, I'm a boost whore.
  12. Hello everyone, I've not actually got my supra yet but will be picking it up later this week. If you've read my other post you'll know that I have swapped my mr2 turbo for the supra (along with lots of cash). Thing is, when I took it out for a test drive it drove sweet, nice progressive power delivery. I was wondering, can you usually hear the turbos on these cars as i could'nt really hear any difference throughout the rev range when accelerating, after being in my mr2 which has a very obvious and loud turbo spool up noise it seemed a bit odd. It has a standard air filter box fitted if that makes a difference, its also still got the re circulating blow off valve so no whooshing noises. If someone could just clarify this for me it would provide me with some solace that its all fine. Thanks.
  13. I've just been out for a drive in it, I must say, it is rather quick!! Thing is, I can't hear the turbos, is this because it has the standard air box and filter fitted? Also, does anyone know where I can get indiglo dials for an auto one.? I've found manual variations but not the auto.
  14. Yup, better than brown, do they do a brown supra? Thanks for the compliments fellas, I should pick it up Friday. It was a bit of an impulse buy TBH, I was not looking for another car at all but was browsing autotrader as you do and this one came to my attention. Seeing as it was only down the road, I called the guy and arranged to see it the next day. My god, I wasn't prepared for it at all, it really is in amazing condition, and those wheels...................... I wanted it straight away, went out for a test drive and everyone, I mean EVERYONE in the street turned to stare at it. Its like its just driven out of the showroom. It has a HKS Silent exhaust fitted that is only a couple of months old. Whats this exhaust like in your opinions with regard to quality and performance.? Heres a couple more pictures of her from the advert.
  15. Hello everyone, I've just part exchanged my rev 3 mr2 turbo and bought this little number, let me know what you think. Any advice about ownership would be greatly appreciated.
