  1. Get the car on a ramp and hit the exhaust with the ball of your fist, hit it all the way along the exhaust until you hear the rattle, you'll be able to locate it then. If you don;t hear it, its not the exhaust.
  2. I believe its something to do with the IACV valve. I don't know what it does or how it works, but I've read running the car in TTC mode bypasses this valve and is a good way of diagnosing whether the valve is operating properly.
  3. Well someone needs to edit the FAq in the technical specifications section of oil reccomendations. I went with what it reccomended for my car 10/40. I had no idea Toyota firmly reccomend 30 weight oil otherwise I'd have gone with that. If this is the cause of my crank seal failure, I'll not be too happy.
  4. Mate, that is a serious piece of kit, one of the best I've seen.
  5. My engine oil has always been 10w 40 chrono 300v, its always at the top level on the dipstick. My front crank seal is not pissing out everywhere, its only a slight leak, I don't think the seal has failed due to pressure, I believe its failed due to age, simple as that.
  6. Its all good fellas, next time she asks, I'll show her this thread
  7. Well you lot have provided me with a little solace, its good to know that people don;t sell the Supra when the decide to have kids, I'm getting married in less than a month and I've no doubt that my broody fiance will want to knock out a baby as soon as possible.
  8. My wife to be pesters me to let her drive the Supra, she wants me to put her on the insurance and let her go out in it. Thing is, she has virtually zero respect for her A class mercedes and regularly kerbs the wheels. When I say about her wheels, she replies, "its my car, i can do what I want with it". I'd be so worried she smash the car up or just not respect its power and end up in A+E. What do you lot think?
  9. So your saying you didn't respect the law prior to being stopped, hmmmmmmmmm. Speaks volumes really.
  10. standard toyota skirts and spats blended are best IMO, I'm biased though.
  11. Well, I've gone up against a new shape M3, (class one, please ignore the following few sentences). The BMW got away from me on the motorway, slowly pulling into the distance, then, he hits his limiter at 155 leptons and I sail past. 1 - 0 to the Supra
  12. Have you sorted this yet mate? The front crank seal has gone on mine, and I'd like the uprated one if there is such a thing.
  13. I bought coolant of them and an oil filter the other day, thats as far as it goes though, there is a guy across the road from them called Tech one, hes a Toyota specialist and he's worked on my MR2 tubby and the supra, his names Derek and is not scared to work on the supe. He's one of the rare genuine mechanics, I can't recommend him highly enough. His number is 02083020600. Back on topic though, you say you waited 3 minutes after startup and it wan't getting full boost, well, I should hope not. I'm sure there are safety implementations to stop the car boosting fully unitl its up to operating temp. Never boot the car until its properly warmed up.
  14. Well I can't have your supra being faster than mine now can I
  15. What about new gaskets mate? or is it ok to re use the original ones?
  16. HKS have just made a hi power variant cat back exhaust for the NA, the only difference between the tt one and the NA is the pipe diameter. WQith regard to your loud exhaust question, if you take the cats out, pretty much any exhaust you put on will make a fair bit of noise.
  17. What was it that sparked at the end of the vid? Whatever it was, it scared the shit out of the guy standing next to the car
  18. Well look at you Surj, going all BPU. DON'T DO IT!!!!! You'll make me do it, and I really haven't got the cash flow for it at the moment. don't listen to me matey, I'm only jealous. When you get it done you'll have to take me for a spin in it. Oh, and just a little advice, get a walbro fuel pump upgrade, you really don't want these engines running lean, the results tend to be pretty terminal. Seeya soon dude.
  19. If you can feel it when you kick the tyre I doubt its the subframe, the bolts for the subframe are huge and if they were loose enough to move when you kicked the tyre I think your engine wuld have fallen out by now. I reckon its one of two things, 1) droplinks, mainly because they are right behind the wheels and are one of the only things you can feel knocking through your hand or foot while the car is on the ground. If you've not had them changed, I 'd recommend getting them done, they can make a huge improvment in driver 'feel'. They are also relatively cheap compared to other repairs on the Supra. 2) Track rod ends, I think these only because you've mentioned the steering shake on motorways, sometimes a telltale sign of wear. Easy to diagnose, jack they front wheels up and rock the steering from the wheels, if you feel play or slight knock, my money is on them. Good luck mate.
  20. So, my question about back pressure, will I still need restrictor rings with a high flow cat?
  21. Sorry to hear that dude. Like you say though, you'll get another one in good time.
  22. I'd be very interested in something like these. My cars a 96 TT so needs a cat for the MOT. I'll need more info on them though before I part with hard earned wedge, such as, will fitting these cause overboost problems due to my puny jspec wastegates?, will I still need a restrictor ring? will the step up in power not be great enough to justify spending money on them?
  23. You have some serious skills fella. Top job.
  24. Clutches judder more when warm, points to clutch problem.
