  1. I guess I must just be desensitized to it then, I see worse driving than that nearly everyday on my way too, and during work. Last week there was a guy in a 200sx doing arabian style drifting down Bromley High Street, one wrong flick and he'd have creamed 20 pedestrians. Just today I was walking my dog, and a guy in a white transit was driving down the pavement (all 4 wheels) to get in front of a que of traffic, he was doing about 30mph!!, if someone walked out from an obscured garden or alleyway, they be brown bread for sure.
  2. Woooh there, steady on tiger. I told my story that is a bit different to the video. Sure it was immature what I did, but if you're suggesting that you've never had a laugh at someone elses expense or misfortune, then I'm sorry, but your talking bollox.
  3. Here are a couple of pics before and after the condom things are removed. I have el-glo dials so they have no effect on the dial themselves, just the needles. Before After
  4. If you remove the three large bulbs on the back of the cluster, you'll find they have condom things on them that do nothing but dim the bulbs, remove the condom things and it'll make you needles brighter.
  5. Have you painted the needles too? Are they el-glo or backlit?
  6. yup, I've since been promoted to a CU Next Tuesday
  7. I'm not clued up enough to comment on the details of the kit, so I'll wait until Dude see's this thread, or if anyone else is interested, I suggest they speak to him. So, to get this thread back on topic, if anyone else knows of recon companies, post them up and I'll call them for a quote and post the results.
  8. I admit, when I was 17 I was a bit of a tosser
  9. I don't think they've got it advertised anywhere yet. Speak to John (dude) and he'll fill you in.
  10. Only thing I know is that John (dude) says that the car at 0.8 feels faster than hybrids at 1.4 I've not heard back from the member who has had the work done. I'd rather leave it to him to post his experience with it, I wouldn't want to steal his thunder or state anything that's not correct.
  11. It's tried and tested now mate, there is a member on here who is running it.
  12. Well thats it then, AFR here I come *goes of to search behind sofas for some money*
  13. But if your turbos are on the way out, sorting a new ECU and injectors isn't going to make your existing old stock turbos any better. Putting a nice new single on and running it at low boost for stock fuelling will not stress the unit at all, so it'll be quite happy poodling around at low boost, until such time as you can afford the Solaris and injectors.
  14. Blimey, I was 17 ffs, in a £300 POS sky blue escort with a blown HG I wasn't doing anywhere near the speed she was doing, I was doing about 25 at most as I'd only just pulled out of a junction, the puddle was deep though so the desired effect was managed with a very low speed We were all young once, and anyone that says that they never ever messed around in a car when they were younger is talking out of their ring piece As for stuffing the supra into a wall, she doesn't come out of the garage if its raining, so the chances of me doing it are slim to none
  15. Thats the thought process if I was to go with AFR's budget single kit. You can buy the kit which will run with the stock ECU with BPU fuelling mods. Then later on you get the ECU and injectors to utilise the single thats already there. Edit, I'm starting to convince myself now that this is the best course of action...................
  16. full rebuild using machined garrett compressor wheels, £595+VAT each with a 2 year warranty.
  17. It's the same for both. It's either do this with my turbos, or go with the AFR budget single kit which runs from the stock ECU (although I have a mines ECU). I'm just getting all the options possible really and then weighing them up.
  18. Only problem with the second hand pair is not knowing what you're getting. You may stick them on only to find a week later that they're fubard too. New pair from mr T (from japan) is about 1k each, so quite pricey.
  19. Nice one mate, I've just got off the phone to them. Their price is £375 +VAT for each turbo. That includes everything that I have listed above from turbo technics with a 3 day turnaround. If anyone else recommends someone, I'll give them a ring today and put their price up here, so then anyone else searching can find prices in one place.
  20. I'm looking into getting my J-spec turbos reconditioned at some point and just got a price from turbo technics. £600 for each turbo, for that you get new shafts, steel internals to replace the ceramics, new seals and reconditioned housings. 5 day turnaround. Does this sound reasonable? I thought rather than go for new units from japan, having the ceramic parts replaced with steel will allow me to run higher boost, I'm not too fussed about a slightly slower spool up time.
  21. How ridiculous, it's just a bit of fun I remember buying a car from an auction back when I was 17, I pulled out in my new 1.6 mk4 escort and started cruising in my new beast. I saw a huge puddle that took up my whole lane, with a middle aged dude walkign right next to it on the pavement. I couldn't resist so I sped up and caned him with a tsunami size splash wave...........worst thing was though is that I was driving down a dead end road. So I turned around and started driving back, when I saw the same guy flicking his arms down trying to shake the worst of the water off from my previous assault. I couldn't resist, so I drove over to the other side of the road and got him again
