  1. Thanks guys, really helpful!! I took the dash out - how easy is that! I discovered that the cigarette lighter has a tiny in-line fuse built into it which had gone. I bypassed that and now it works fine. I also changed the fuse from a 15A to a 20A just in case... Thanks. Kevin
  2. I just had the dreaded heater matrix failure, so I blocked the pipes to the heater as explained on other threads. I bought myself a 12V electric heater instead which works from the cigarette lighter - but it seems to have blown the fuse. Funny thing is I checked fuse no. 10 in the driver's kick panel and it is fine. Could there be another fuse that may have blown somewhere? Everything else seems to work OK. Thanks! Kevin
  3. For me it is a no brainer - pay someone else! My local garage has already refused to do the job because it is too difficult for them! I gather undoing the crank pulley (or whatever it is called) is a real pig. However I believe others have done it themselves, perhaps they can offer you some hope! Kevin
  4. I've also got exactly the same problem since a few days ago. I'm assuming it must be the water pump and getting it changed at Phoenix. If anyone has any other ideas of what to do let me know!
  5. Thanks - you were brave!
  6. Arrived home today to hear a nasty hissing noise from the engine - even when switched off. It had lost most of its coolant (more than 5 litres), and when I top it up it leaks out the bottom ! Thankfully the oil is OK. I have checked the threads and it seems that the water pump has gone. Now this is the question... I live about 15 minutes drive from Phoenix - should I risk it and drive there with little coolant, or is that just being daft? Opinions appreciated - no liability attached!
  7. Yes - although I'm still waiting for the delivery address. If I don't get it soon I let you know.
  8. You can have the pads for £17 (half price) plus £5.50 postage. The discs are probably not worth the postage, but you can collect for free.
  9. I do have the front discs but they are partly corroded on the inside - I'm not sure if they are of any use. You can have them free with the pads or the calipers and decide for yourself. Otherwise Chris Wilson has some J-Spec discs on another thread. Kevin
  10. I have recently upgraded to UK spec brakes, and so have some brand new J-spec front brake pads in box for sale (ref. ADT34255). I also have the original J-spec calipers and brake lines which work fine if anyone wants them. Feel free to make me an offer for either or both (pads normally retail around £34). Can be collected from Rickmansworth, Herts. or I'll send at cost. Thanks, Kevin
  11. I have a J-Spec. with the usual BPU - HKS filter, wider exhauast, etc.. I have seen quite a few threads about upgrading the fuel pump to a Walbro, but how do I know if I need it? Presumably the engine would run lean on high revs, but are there any signs to suggest I need a new pump? Has anybody experienced an improvement in their car after fitting a Walbro? I don't really want to go to the trouble of fitting a new pump unless it would make a difference.... Thanks!
  12. Thanks Terry - I'll give you a call!
  13. They are 17" alloys that came with the car from Japan - I believe Advans. I have tried to measure the gap to the back of the spokes and it looks tight! Kevin
