Hiya Mike, I'm a newbie too. Will look forward to meeting you on the next Welsh meet.
  2. Me too, Got back from a fortnight hols a couple of weeks ago and the car was rough... a bit like when I had no option but to put ordainary 4 star in but worse. Sometimes it feels like it isn't firing on all cylinders then sometimes it's ok. Rather unpredicatble on an overtaking manouvre I've booked in with Martin aka lucifer to get some diags done as I don't really have the ability to go through the whole arena of checks. No help I know but plenty of empathy!
  3. I have checked a previous thread to this now and I think that the standard box has a 5 click knob whilst the digital has a volume type knob with some pretty displays on it. So in answer to Pete's posting I would want to change the setting frequently (for variances in weather and mindset) but totally agree that it is expensive bling. I have the facelift dashboard which is proportionally designed and I already feel cluttered by the road angel and turbo boost boxes. Appreciating this is lightweight to others who add pillar and passenger dials but has anyone considered mounting these 'black boxes' in a central overhead console. Accepting I am yearning for the pilots life it seems a reasonable idea and as I like driving from the back seat they would be easily accesible. Obviously this would be stupid with an aerotop as it would take ages to disconnect as soon as the sun came out!
  4. Thanks Jake and Gamer, Looks like you just saved me a few quid. So in summary I still don't understand what the launch control does but I have to remain ignorant coz I don't need it anyway What about the digital adjuster??? Is that a sexy gadget for the launch control only or can I have that? It's just that the words launch and digital make me ... whilst the word standard makes me.... if you know what I mean
  5. Hi Gamer, It's a Tiptronic. Great fun and all that with the buttons on the steering wheel but would be better with 6 gears than 4. First semi auto I've ever had and I quite like the fact that I can get through roundabouts etc by driving with my knees whilst rolling a ciggy! The downside is my left leg has now suffered muscle wastage and I can only walk around in circles!!! So tell me more about launch control?????
  6. I am new to the Supra and apart from a Capri in the bad old days, haven't been near a rear wheel drive for ages. A few years with a Scooby taught me to drive like a twat and I crave to leave a roundabout again in a (relatively) straight line as this is where I get my kicks. My Supe has stock traction control and is the most frustrating thing ever when I forget to switch it off. I am 99% convinced about rltc and am about to order with the group buy. Can someone let me now what the launch thingy is and does it also take over initial accelaration, or is it just an extension of the TC? Just wondering if this is something else to remember to switch on (or off for those snaking starts) or if you just hit the green button and hang on.
  7. "License worked at Jordan for many years before moving to Williams to work on the Grove team's new wind tunnel project but has now decided to return to his old team as it prepares to increase the size of the models used in the Brackley tunnel." Have you always been into big women mate?
  8. Me too please... Quicksilver FX Color Code 1B9 I blasted the last lot off with a power washer. DOH!
  9. Hey RedM - Your not thinking of comin' to Wales as a group to help me change my Cambelt are you? PS Just got rid of a red FTO with pink handles, door mirrors and rear spoiler.... So much T-cut I was starting to expose the primer!!!
  10. How does the PIAA ones fare on insect splats???
  11. I reckon the Red ones need changing far mor often, especially if they are covered in blood!!!
  12. According to the service manual workshop manual: The condition of camshaft drive belts should always be checked on vehicles which have more than 50,000 miles. Although some manufacturers do not recommend belt replacement at a specified mileage, others require it at 60,000-100,000 miles. Replace the timing belt every 72 months or 60,000 miles if the vehicle is operated under Severe Service conditions such as frequent idling or extensive long distance driving at low speeds. It also says in the toyota manual to charge 1.8 - 2.3 hours for cambelt change hope this helps
  13. Marksupra your discussion is music to my ears. I have a problem where a garage (Hyeline performance in Cardiff) failed to remove the pulley bolt and are now suggesting removing the gearbox to lock the flywheen in order for the 1000lb torque hammer to release it. Around £500 for 10 hrs labour. They didn't use a special tool!!!! I have a few mechanics in the family who are suggesting they remove it and we were going to make a tool but noted the crank pulley depressed (c'mon cheer up!) so we are thinking about the options. IS there anything different I should be aware from your wonderfully detailed instructions as this is on a '99 japspec TT vvt-i tip? I would love to borrow your tools Mark and will pm to discuss. Cheers Guys
  14. If you ever fancy coming to Abergavenny the bus station is a meeting place for about 50 - 100 bikers every Sunday. Parking is free and there are many fast food places within a 100 yards. Be good to show the town 4 wheels for a change!
  15. Christ that's expensive for a BBQ!!!
  16. Of course if you modify the truckers one with a six inch spoiler they stay glued to the screen up to 170+. Only trouble is you can't see a damn thing!
  17. bit late replying but I am now up and running on the broadband doh! The 28th is smack in the middle of the America trip. I am back by Sunday 4th if you do change it though. Love to meet up again. In fact... any Sunday except the 28th! Now what was the order again.... Fuel pumps, boost controllers... Alloys.... ..."Oi Missus, get your clothes outta that suitcase" Extreme Feng Shui
  18. Good result Ian and rightly so! Thanks to all the guys who made a great day of yesterday. As a meet virgin it was nice to be broken in gently! CJ, I was halfway through the bay tunnel with the window down trying to listen to my engine, then a great throaty roar took over and you came in to my view in the rear mirror. No wonder the cops heard you coming the other day. As I was driving into Abergavenny I heard you pulling up in Merthyr!!! Thanks Si for leading the way, even two Supes together look better than one! See you next time guys, (oh and yes Ian, I have paid the membership today just so I can use the copyright on the red bull can and buy a coat to stop me chillin' in future! Cheers Jon (& Jason)

April is good for me and Sundays are best day too. I usually have to meet colleagues on an all Wales basis and we tend to go to Builth Wells or Llandrindod Wells as that's central for all. Can't think of anything exciting happening in either of these towns though. Seaside would be nice especially the west coast. Supra driving.... relaxed comfort mixed with turbo boosted adrenaline squirts A sort of Extreme Feng Shui

I've had the Supra for a week now. In Abergavenny there are at least 100 scoobies... no joke, and nobody looks twice at them now. I haven't seen a Supra for ages. and the heads that turn. So...... how can I stop posing???
