  1. I think most programmers/ timeclocks are usually sealed units. Other than changing the battery backup , or cleaning the contacts of the front to the backplate there normally isnt much else to do than "toss it in the bin". Obviously replacing with the same, means only changing the front rather than messing about with the electrics on backplate. Cheers Ian
  2. Thorin, in tollstation.com / plumbing & heating / replacement head for 3 port valve, p/n: 97482 = £24.12 cheers Ian Shaun, what is the make and model of your boiler ?
  3. you'll get one at any plumbers merchants - grahams , plumbcentres, etc. Alternatively try http://www.toolstation.com/shop, i find that their prices are quite reasonable. Quite straight forward to fit if you only change the electric motor, best trying to get same as one already fitted then it is a straight swop. If you are quite handy with electrics then should be no probs
  4. got to agree with chris aka fonz, the motorised valve when asking for dhw only, allows the heat to circulate around your dhw cylinder to heat the hot water. when you ask for heating and dhw, the valve changes over to allow the heat to circulate around the cylinder and also your radiators. If you have to manually open the valve for heating then it is usually the motor that is knackered and you normally need only fit a new motor - not the whole valve otherwise you will have to empty the ch system best of luck Ian

    Italy...

Went to Rome in June this year. The architecture was absolutely fantastic -every corner you turned there were fantastic buildings ranging over the last 2000+ years. We stayed on the Via Nationale which is probably the main street - central for everything. We went down to Pompeii, which was also fascinating. Quite a pricey country though, but i'm sure you will enjoy it. Cheers Ian

Hi Neil, I see you are posting from Banff. Are you driving through the Rockies up to Jasper and then across to Vancouver ? I did this a couple of years ago in a RV (53ft total length) - it was absolutely fantastic, overnighting in the National Parks. Watch out for the grizzlies though. See you when you get back Cheers Ian
  17. lloyd, I'll show you at the meet on Sunday Cheers Ian
  18. [quote RIJ8631, Cant make next Sunday mate as im working:( , are most of the Scottish meet on Sundays as i normally work 2 or 3 Sundays in the month but i would really like to start going? Reidy No, its not always Sundays. It usually depends on which day is more suitable for the attendees. The roads are usually a bit quieter on a Sunday, so better for a cruise. Brian (TDR) sometimes posts meets at different venues, I cant remember if its the 1st 0r 2nd Thursday in the month. Keep an eye on Scottish Events. Cheers Ian

  23. I agree with you Geoff, one job I went for (nearly 20years ago) involved a "test" on a B series ERF artic. I had just come off "up to date" Scannies and Volvos -christ what an eye opener that was. After crunching my way up and down the box - I asked the owner if this was a joke. Believe it or not he said this was one of his better units and more unbelievable I actually got the job. Within the trade the company was known as "The Antique Roadshow", all in all it wasnt a bad company to work for and I was quite happy for the few years I was there. Cheers Ian PS: these young whippersnappers have it so easy nowadays.
