  1. Eve, just remember " ignorantia jures neminem excusat " and you'll do ok good luck !! Cheers Ian
  2. [quote=Marty; It is a worchester boiler mate, but the heating does actually work, the radiators get red hot, they just dont stay that way It could be cutting out the pilot on the overheat limit stat. The radiators should not really be "red hot " - combi's have safety stats built in which detect the boiler getting too hot and cut out the pilot. Turn down the central heating control on the boiler and see if the heating works ok then. Set the control to give a temperature of 50-60 degrees ( if a temperature gauge is fitted ). Might just be that you are running the c/h at maximum settings which is too hot for the boiler. cheers ian
  3. Marty, quote make and model, and it might gives us and idea. 1) Do you have TRV's (thermostatic rad valves) on the radiators, if so what are they set at ? 2) Is the pressure OK on the pressure gauge - should be approx 1 to 1.5 bars ? 3/ Some permanent pilot boilers have an overheat limit stat fitted ( aka interupter). Could be that its getting "weak". Come back with some answers and we'll see what we can suggest cheers Ian
  4. Keith, how's the car running now?. Hope you'll have time to enjoy after all the time and expense. cheers Ian
  5. could possibly be that the pump is stuck - firing up, but because the pump is not circulating , it then goes into an overheat situation, and the pilot cuts out as a safety precaution. Although i'm a boiler engineer, i am not familiar with the glow worm range. You could always check to see if the pump is circulating. Normally if the fan is not turning the boiler should not fireup. cheers Ian
  6. Got to agree with previous posts. Mauritius - the hotels and beaches are lovely, but the island itself is not very interesting, mostly sugar cane. Seychelles - more scenic than Mauritius, you can visit some of the surrounding smaller islands that have tremendous beaches. Thailand - Bangkock is OK for a few days sightseeing, Phucket is scenic and plenty to do, the island of Kho Samui was brilliant ten years ago,but very commercialised nowadays. Bali - havent been there yet -maybe next year. If its sunshine and sand you want then probably in December - its difficult to be Dubai Cheers Ian

  14. Sandy, the best thing to do in Wishaw is "run for your life" Not quite that bad but just about Cheers Ian
  15. On the boiler there should be a hot water thermostat - but quite often turning down the temp control doesnt actually adjust the temperature of the hot water. The hot water flow rates should be set to the manufactuers recommendations - this means that with the hot water tap fully open, the flow rate should be 9-13 lts/min depending on capability of boiler. Quite often these are not set, so it means the user has to partially open the taps to get the water warmer, but it means you lose control of the temp and it gets hotter and hotter. The slower the water runs the hotter it gets. I doubt if B.G actually "serviced" the boiler "as per manufacturers instructions" - they tend only to do a "safety check" ie gas flue analysis and dont actually service the boiler nowadays. Get them to do a proper service and commission of the boiler or better still get the manufactuers own engineers to set the boiler up properly- it could be money better spent. Cheers Ia
  16. Baz, I got these from yourself a year or two ago - still looking great. Would advise the "blingboys" to get them Cheers Ian
