  1. Try - http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion it will ask you the make and model, and then give instuctions on how to change regions. Very simple - it worked for me. cheers Ian
  2. Just finished a good book - '' Sahib '' by Richard Holmes - its the historical facts of the British control of India , ie the East India Company, and the British Raj. My favourites are George MacDonald Fraser's '' Flashman'' series - lighter reading based on historical facts. Cheers Ian
  3. yes there's a few of us on here, that dont live far from Hamilton - i'm about 4 miles away cheers Ian
  4. Drove around California and through Death Valley to Vegas and then back through the Mughabe Desert (possibly incorrect spelling) and down to the Mexican border. Best places were - San Fransisco, Yosemite NP, San Deigo, and Disneyland @ Anahiem. Worst place was definately Los Angelos - felt quite threatening and I'm not easily scared. You'll have a great trip and the prices (especially petrol) are great. We stayed at Best Western and Travelodge's - there were reasonable and relatively cheap. Cheers Ian
  5. Get a Bowie knife like Crocodile Dundee - it will keep the gangs away if nothing else.
  6. Listen to Keith Arthur on Saturday and Sunday mornings between 6am - 8am on Talksport radio 1089fm, A good fishing programme and always going on about carp fishing Cheers Ian
  7. welcome to the club, mate. hope we'll see you at some meets, if you get your soop. cheers ian
  8. just not safe to park your car anywhere in Stra'ven. You seem to have major problems with parking outside your house. cheers ian
  9. No matter what mechanical/electrical problem caused the crash - just goes to show you the abilities of the pilots to bring it home. Seemingly some of the passengers didnt even know that the plane had crashed !! Gives you confidence in flying. Knowing quite a few of BA's pilots it just goes to show that all the training and reassessments that they go through are well worth while. For such a major problem to have so very few casualties was extremely remarkable - testimony to the flight and cabin crews training. Cheers Ian
  10. '' Jim '' may be an alias !!!! So start thinking of all the silver mk4's in and around the Edinburgh area. Could be Brians, Chris, Sandy (what colour is yours again - silver or white ) Come on boys own up - who's leaving dating cards Cheers Ian

    Hello

  12. Welcome to the net,CJ. Why not get yourself along to the next meet ? I see we are trying to get together a few in February - see Trackday Scotland @ Knockhill thread Cheers Ian
  13. Stevie, I had a problem recently with my router - " cannot connect to server " kept appearing everytime I tried to get on line. After a lot of farting about trying to sus out the problem, I contacted my internet supplier - who told me to switch off the router and turn it back on again and hey presto problem solved. Seemingly you should switch off the router regularly. By the way Merry Xmas and hope to meet up next year cheers Ian
  14. Welcome to the club, Chris. We do have meets occassionally, although we do like to leave it to the new members to arrange one - sort of an inniation ( just like the Masons - where we have them is a secret !!! ) Cheers Ian
  15. Admitedly it was a few years ago, in fact Oct 1995. I think this was pre the Yen collapse of approx 2000. If I remember correctly an ordinary bottle of whisky was £125, and a breakfast in a street cafe was £30 each. Times have obviously changed, as we were there for 3 weeks and travelled between Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and we never saw another "westerner" Cheers Ian
  16. Hi Eve, Tokyo is quite an interesting city, but the place that I enjoyed most was the Todaji Temple at Nara (not far from Kyoto). Its said that its the largest wooden structure on earth. Kyoto Castle is also worth a look (like something out of Shogun). One thing for certain is that you'll need plenty of money with you, as everything was about 5 times the cost of Britain. Cheers Ian PS travel around on the Tschinkansen (not the proper spelling) but otherwise known as the Bullet Train
  17. good luck with the sale Tomasz, hope she goes to a good home. where are you going to ? all the best cheers Ian
  18. I cant blame them for that, Ian. Havent been on for a couple of days , so just got your message. Will give you a call tonight Cheers Ian
  19. The British Army would NOT have a recruiting problem with this lovely lot (origonal pic... not the one above) on the parade ground - VERY NICE INDEED Cheers Ian
  20. Something doesnt seem to be quite right here, sean. The condensate should be clear, it would seem to me that you may have a problem with your soil/waste pipe -ie not clearing, rather than your condensate pipe.If this is so then it may be something more serious and need urgent fixing - go see your builders. cheers ian
  21. Lexsum, where abouts in Strathclyde are you ? If your not too far away, I can always pop in and have a look and give you some advice. What exactly is the new problem you have with the condensate pipe ? Grundfoss do a condensate pump at around £75.00 cheers Ian
  22. glad to hear theres still a bit of life left in the old boiler. perhaps it,ll keep going for the next 27 years !!! cheers ian
  23. As a gas boiler engineer, it sounds as if either the pump has stuck or the feeder tank in your attic has ran out of water ( ie the ballcock isn't letting water into the feeder tank. However, if you were intending to change your boiler, I would have no hesitation in changing to a Combi system, for 2 main reasons - 1) the heating system will heat up quicker and warmer and 2) much more economical to run. After 2 years of researching into High Eficiency boilers the only one that I would recommend is the Maxol Supacombi HE28 - well built with copper and brass fittings, NOT the plastic rubbish that most manufacturers and now using. The will mean that the boiler will probably last 20years not approx 8-10 years as with the plastic crap. cheers Ian
