Probably, I only put it up for my reference, if others want to use it they are welcome to...

http://www.theregister.com/2007/10/03/amputated_leg_found_in_barbecue_smoker/ Two men fighting over a leg, yes a real human leg... Read the story, the bit that I love is the exhibiting of the two items...

Now I know I bleet on about the importance of good rubber, I find myself fascinate by a set of these... They have recommended to me by 'a friend' who now has a BMW M5.... Anybody have any experience as to HOW bad they really are, before I spend £30 on a tyre to have a laugh with basically.
-
Dude, yeah you can get a manifold which will take a t4 turbo.... BUT there is a lot more you will need other than just strapping a turbo to the engine. XS Power by any chance?
-
Just an example... fair enough add some shipping, but it is still WAY under £900
-
A proper set of lowering springs would provide a lower ride height and the correct spring rate (Cheers Chris, couldn't think of the term ). Lowering springs aren't that expensive and are a much better option.
-
The GE and GTE heads are different.. The NA manifold as such is different to the TT.
-
Fair enough, but what I'm saying is that 0.5mm at the top where the factory cut is, could be a solid piece, it could be a thicker part of the dampner... it could be thinner..however a bit of research like that could save you from dropping the front end of the car on the road in the event that dampner wall folds or something similar.
-
They are stiffer to prevent the dampner bottoming out... deja vu`
-
Oh innovate away... I do on the way home and speak to another supra owner about the wacky ideas. (Some of which will hopefully work, some are just plain wacky)... If you are going down this route, then I'll probably suggest getting hold of an old bilstein section, have a look at the thickness of the section which you plan on cutting into, and make sure you have enough wall thickness, so you don't compromise the structure of the dampner too much.
-
Lowering springs also have a higher tension rating, which means they provide more resistance than standard springs, so they are less likely to bottom out.
-
Okay, I stand corrected on that aspect of it then.. I must have mis-interpretted, apologies. I'd still be concerned with the possible issues with running normal springs with a height difference due to the travel issues.
-
The way I read it and correct me if I'm wrong, but he is taking about putting a clip on a few coils.. That is altering the length of the spring to me.. It alters the entire physics of the way the spring works. Not even close Wait until you hit an expected bump, I can say this from experience, I had a golf mki that I lowered the 'budget' way (I was 17 and stupid)... 1 week later, hit a pothole and the dampner popped where it hit the bottom of its travel. If you are really considering doing this, then be warned, and don't expect to see the above guide in Technical anytime soon (Awaits Ian C's comments )
-
EXACTLY.. you have seen the shed, it sits high, not even I would consider bodging springs this way, the car can sit high for all I care before I do that kind of rubbish.
-
You reckon cutting into a spring is a good idea?? It does weaken it, of course it will, you have just cut into the overall structure of a single coiled piece of spring steel (or whatever they make them of)
-
To be fair, the only reason for the upgrade was that a disk failed in my old system, so I figured that was a good enough reason to replace the whole thing and go HD
-
Okay, ignore my first post.. The springs are tested over the length of the unit, and to the tension that they can take. Clamping a few coils together WILL not be ideal. Yes it will lower the car, however it will also completely screw up the spring rating, given that you now have three sections of tension in the spring; The bit above the compressed coil; the bit below the compressed coil; and the compressed coil itself. This is a BAD IDEA, the spring rate will also probably be too soft and you will end up bottoming out the dampner (Causing it to pop). Lower kits SHOULD come with slightly shorter dampners, otherwise the length of travel is severly affected. This is not a good idea in my opinion, you own a supra and as such don't do bodge jobs to it, spend the money and get decent springs or just don't do it. This is almost as bad as compressing and then heating the coils. But this is just my opinoin, feel free to ignore it.

I'm not going to say anything yet... however I'm very interested in seeing how it is done.

I've got an XBOX 360 which has media extender capabilities, but to be fair I found it frankly CRAP... It can't play half of the avi's due to it's locked down MS codec structure on the 360. As far as features go, not really sure it gives much over what most people would use for an HTPC. I simply put it on because I like the interface (better graphics, more finished)... I'm sure there are some new features. I like the way vista does security, which I find is easier than XP's for general use. Not REALLY much in it at the end of the day because for all of the fancier graphics you still watch the movie in full screen with all the graphics gone. I'd REALLY not recommend 64bit as the UVD issue is a fairly serious one. I can also recommend buying CoreAVC which is a software H264 decoder and it is DAMN quick (It will in the near future support the ATI/Nvidia HD acceleration on the GPU). http://www.coreavc.com/ As far as codecs go I went with in the following order.. Vista Video Codec Pack 4.5.0 - http://www.jtow.net/users/triess/ FFDSHOW Tryout - Updates the ffdshow bit XVID - http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html CoreAVC - http://www.coreavc.com/ Software wise, kept it simple Vista 32 Cyberlink Media Deluxe Cyberlink PowerDVD 7 (For blueray and HD playback when I get a drive) AVG Antivirus TwonkyVision uPNP server http://www.twonkyvision.de (I use this for my Streamium to watch telly upstairs, the SL300i supports XVID, DIVX so works well) Directly connected to the TV via an HDMI cable, works very well, get 5.1 down the audio side and 1080i on the video side (all down one cable so SupraChick is happy about that)

Here you go, help yourself http://www.slipstreem.net/mkivsupra/manuals/ PS : Hope Nic doesn't mind...

Suprisingly good actually, usually when Homer has hassles I do as well, due to the same 'net provider... Not using a specified proxy server either at the mo.

Yeah, that is what I said, the stats don't seem to match my website stats, so I've asked for clarification. Seems VERY odd that 200gb would be pushed down...

5 days later, much blood, sweat and tears and it is running finally.... Got the fatal1ty board.... Installed it, HD was still choppy, so took Alex's advise and got an HD2600XT. Still choppy... After numerous reinstalls of Vista 64, getting the codec order right, sorting out the apps and data, still choppy... Finally found out last night that the ATI 64 bit drivers have had UVD disabled, which is REQUIRED for HD decoding on the 2600... THANKS VERY MUCH for making that clear on the driver download ATI. So now using... Fatal1ty Board 190HD ATI 2600XT 4gb RAM 3 x 500GB SATAII disks Vista 32bit. So far very impressed with it, nicer interface than MCE2005, and HD is awesome when it runs properly.

Turns out my account got suspended today because there had been an abnormal amount of downloading from my website... Thing is, I have absolutely NO skill in HTML, and as such the site is basic as you can get.... 2 links that is it pretty much it. Inside one of these links is Nic's supra manuals all unzipped and in their native PDF format. Turns out, someone in Bangkok was REALLY desperate for them, as they attempted to download the manuals silly amount of times, and ended up using 200gb worth of bandwidth in a couple of days...So they are either desperate for the manuals, or they were trying to make the server crash. Why they would want to crash a sillt little server with almost nothing on it.. Oh well.. IP blocked and life goes on

She is the ex right? Why does she still have such a hold over you? Money owed is money owed really.... I would personally spend the £30 and go to small claims court. I had to do something similar with a family member who owes me £3500.... I phoned him up, had a few words and said 'Enough is enough, I know we are mates, but unless you pull finger I'm going to claims court'... He sorted it then and there...
