  1. anyone know of anyone in club down hereford way that i could contact about me takin it to them for a look on saturday - or even of a supra specialist garage in the region
  2. i'm sure you're right..... but 1.3 boost...with only aftermarket cat-back and air filter - that can't be right can it (unless there are other mods or else something faulty???).
  3. Hi, had a few threads going in last couple of days about a GZ TT i'm going to look/buy in hereford (I;m inIreland) on saturday. after suggestions on here am planning to run on 95RON (only fuel at pumps over here) and 10% toluene. The guy who is sellin says car is standard apart from cat -back 5zigen exhaust/ HKS induction mushroom filter...............but I asked him to gun it and see max boost he said it boosted on gauge to 1.2-1.3 isn't this high , stock = 0.8? is this possible with just these mods or is there likely to be more mods having been done....want car as standard/stock as possible cos of crap fuel over here... see pics of engine bay here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270174439749#ebayphotohosting thanks, finding this forum really useful
  4. cheers, toluene it is then...... i knew 8 years training in chemistry would pay off!! now I can nick the toluene from work
  5. bear in mind I;m not going to be gunning the supra (I say that now:)) so just need a solution that will allow me to drive 2-3 days a week and not screw the engine up...
  6. so whats better: 1. use 10% toluene in 95RON as is....or 2. get engine remapped with new ECU to run off 95RON neat
  7. only have 95 here in Ireland. do you know what % toluene is recommended in the mix - do I just fill tank say 90% with 95RON and add 10% toluene from a can???
  8. is it worth getting engine re-mapped for 95RON? apparently can't remap the stock ECU?? - have to install aftermarket ECU ............don't know if its worth doing this or running with 95 and toluene booster..? or even just run on 95.....worse performance and MPG maybe but the ECU should auto-adapt and no damage will be done , right??
  9. Paying 7,500 so i reckon its a decent price. Imported July 06 by JapPerformance in Bradford - phoned them and they confirmed that they imported car and the mileage they remember ties in... (any one had any dealings with them????) The guy i'm buyin it off in hereford says he's had it for weekend use for last year and put only 3K on it in UK- sounds kosher enough - but you never know do ya!! apart from obvious signs of wear and age, in absence of mileage cert, any other way to confirm mileage ?? its hard I know - its a 13 year old car - I'm not expecting it to be perfect
  10. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270174439749#ebayphotohosting Hi all, am buyin this supra GZ TT on saturady in UK to bring back to Ireland..... can anyone tell me from image of engine bay at above address..if (apart from HKS air intake induction kit) if the engine looks unmodified........I want a totally stock engine running standard boost as I'm gonna have to largely run off 95RON over here with maybe some octane booster w.r.t octane booster, i heard the best thing to use is pure toluene (at concentration of 10% per tank) - anyone know anything about this?? (so happens I'm a chemical engineer and could sneak some of that solvent outta work no hassle :-)) Cheers, Seán
  11. so you're getting an aftermarket ECU?? didn't think you could remap stock ecu?
  12. yes they have it in about 80 Maxols nationwide but not 1 in Cork city where I am (FFS!!!)...whereabouts are you...its on the maxol website the list of garages that have it.....what have you been running on to date (you have a TT??)
  13. I was talking about, getting the ecu re-tuned/optimised for 95RON... what will simply resetting it do??
  14. thats what i thought...i think i can live with that (Maxol are supposed to be bringin in 99RON which is 5% etahnol in a few months so can switch over to that) so I guess the ECU can adapt after a while, switching fuels?? Is it possible to remap standard ECU? any point in this? what about octanne boosters - waste of money? Cheers
  15. 1300Euro...which ain't bad if you know our VRT system....it means the stupid c**ts are valuaing the car at 4500 euro!! Most unfair tax in the world - they'd only get away with it in ireland
  16. Bringin TT to Ireland: can use 95RON???? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all, i'm in Cork, Ireland comin to UK on saturday to buy a 94 j-spec GZ 6Speed manual TT sorry i'm sure this question has been asked on here a million times!! I've looked through loads of thread here and am getting mixed messages about using 95RON (only readily available fuel at the pumps over here) in the TT. Had a N/A before and that wasn't a problem... can use an octane booster but I get the impression they are a waste of time? can I use 95RON - car is stock - can i get stock ecu remapped for 95 - is this a good idea appreaciate any help Cheers, Sean

  18. Nice one, there 2 cats , ya? one up at the engine end and another one half way down the exhaust pipe? so a cat-back system is from halfway back? Jeez, its a wonder I know where the steering wheel is!
  19. Cheers, assume me to be the most ignorant person about cars ever to own a Supra.... whats a cat-back system? what kind of money? is the shop on here good
  20. Hi all, have a 1994 N?A jap import a couple of months. I thought it had got a bit noisy - the exhaust box is hanging off. Its an aftermarket RS-2 Exhaust Magic - the pipe was rusted to hell and it eventually snapped where the pipe joins the box- unrepairable it seems. I'm not fussy what I replace with - where can I get a stock or a reasonably proced aftermarket system? Have to get car through Irish MOT in a week or 2 and they'll check for emmissions and noise so it has to pass these! From what I understand in the initial stock set-up there are 2 exhaust sections pipes splitting from the mid-pipe box (halfway down car) down to the exhaust box?? Mine currently has just one straight through pipe from the mid-box to the exhaust, which is dangling off..........do I need to replace the entire exhaust system or what?? any help greatly appreaciated
