  1. i know you can buy these blitz active spoiler controller but they seem hard to find..... anyone know how to rewire spoiler control such that it can be controlled manually by switch at any speed?? I have an electrician who could do it for me but would need instructions
  2. the electrical connection to the spoiler ECU is behind the dash right?? is the connection to motor the same thing? - excuse my ineptitude:rolleyes:
  3. had a look around the threads and can't find direct answer to these: how do I lock active spoiler down permanently? anyone know where to get the Active Spoiler Controller kit that allows manual control of spoiler up/down at any speed? I want to lock it down and paint it ratehr than putting an aftermarket lip on there - thanks for any help
  4. ya thats what i meant.......looks good... i'm in ireland so will get it done here locally.... ..how do you fix active spoiler in down position??
  5. anyone ever have any joy with getting a good paint job on the black lower lip on the stock bumper - i'd want to paint mine white????
  6. will consider anything
  7. actually i don't have enough money left for the polish to shine up the active spoiler...
  8. i'd love to say they were for speeding which they could have been!! but they were for talking on handheld phone !!! (while doin frickin 40)........ffs..........fat F**kin copper in an unmarked camry came zoomin up after me as if I robbed a bank
  9. Picked this up this afternoon 80 miles from me here in ireland (from another member of the forum)...... 80 mile drive home (2 penalty points - still didn't take the smile off my face) 1998 VVTI Tiptronic TT.....65K miles Standard BPU (Chris Wilson)...decat,HKS Drager back box, FCD 18" Blitz TechnoSpeed Z1's, OEM sides and spats HID lamps Blitz Dump Valve Front Strut Brace 320KM TRD Speedometer (KM/H in ireland)...delimited can't find a single fault with car and I'm a fussy f**ker... Still staring at it out the window - chuffed Only thing I'm thinking of doing is front splitter/lower lip......would want to fit something to existing facelift front bumper...suggestions???
  10. saw 1.o max boost in test drive and i won't be pushin the car too hard (will be a second car for weekends) so i'm not to worried about optimising performance just don't wanna do any damage with crap fuel via detonation and other nasties....maybe a rempa to 95RON would make more sense?? injectors are stock i think and don't know what you mean by single kit (I'm pretty clueless mechanically:(
  11. Pickin up my 98 VVTI Tip TT BPU (love sayin all that ) tomorrow Have only 95RON fuel at pumps over here in Ireland. On the bright side I have a PhD in Chemistry and work at a chemical company so can get my hands on toluene easily ( I knew the 8 years in college would come in useful someday ) so will be adding toluene to raise my RON. What is my target - JSpec so is it built for 100RON in Japan. Toluene is 114RON - I've put together a calc to figure out how much toluene to add to a full tank of 70L. works out that need to add 18.5L of toluene to 51.5L of 95RON to get 100RON - thats a lot of frickin toluene to be carrying around in my boot!! 11Litres added would give 98RON - that should be enough ya??? for those interested calc is: supra tank = 70L petrol = 95RON Toluene = 114 RON enter litres of toluene added to full tank here 11 [(70-Vol of Toluene)*95 + Vol of Toluene*95]/70 6859 Resulting RON .........................................97.98571429 also here is a good independant review of differnt octane boosters: http://members.rennlist.com/951_racerx/OctaneBoosterComparison.html most are crap - NF from australia is the best - anyone use that?
  12. lookin for lip for stock front as well..... have 98 facelift - is front bumper same as pre-facelift w.r.t compatability with lower lip? any effect on active spoiler?
  13. i'm just glad the search is over and i got one i'm happy with a a good price (by irish standards)....... i'll post pics (once i wash it!!) - only thing i'd consider doing is an aftermarket front lip spoiler - but only if i can fir one to the existing stock bumper and without sacrificing the active spoiler ? buy 5 backup fuel pumps for that 5 series -- trust me!
  14. ya went with the white one.....she's mint - couldn't find fault - except she'll need 2 back tyres -- loved the tiptronic auto i must say - my obsession with a manual is over..... car is 80 miles from me and i was only 5 miles on the road home after closing the deal that my 5 series conked out (fuel pump i'd say...f**kin beemers!!) - the guy sellin me the car came out for me and towed me to a garge in his champagne couloured suzuki swift - hilarious scene i'd say - abig 523 being tugged along by a little pink suziki swift - people were crackin up at the side of the road (I was mortified
  15. not my first rwd ..but my first with 375 bhp up my ass.....:) traction control on for winter i'd say!! (famous last words:d
  16. cheers ....looks like i'll be twin turboing it by tomorrow then....wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. put a deposit ona 98 VVTI TT - BPU today - hoping to collect tomorrow... was very happy with the car......only concern i took away was that she , on start up, idled at 650-700rpm.... this was first start of car for weeks - been sitting garaged (done 6K miles in over 2 years) ticked over nicely on start-up - not very cold day - idled straight awayat 700 RPM and am told always does at that... i was expecting it from my limited supra experince to idle above 1000 initially, especially on cold start up , before settling back down?? (wee at least thats what my previous 94 N/A did?? anyone know if this idle RPM is normal or any issue for this car.???... didn't sound at all loud at that, even with full decat... so I don't think its an issue
  18. looking at a 98 VVTI TT Tiptronic tomorrow...... had heard to be careful about issues with incompatability of tiptronic and the speed delimter/speedo converter car has both done but guy says he got the right SLD that doesn't cause any issue....anyone know which ones are ok?? as i understand (from other threads) the possible issue with with the sld is the car gearing back down suddenly at high speed.... what is the issue caused with the speedo convert? also he says he is an electronics engineer and says he has rewired car with a switch such that the delimeter can be turned on or off anyway (i.e car put back as original or delimeted at the touch of a switch)........anyone done this? or is he spoofing?
  19. i'm sorry for starting this thread....i appear to have opened pandoras box!
  20. http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=610078 going to look at this sunday here in ireland, he's advertised at 19 ..........i have him down at 17,000 euro won't pay more than 16 if car is mint....= 11,000 sterling..... but have to bear in mind that if i have to bring same car ...i.e a 1998 in from UK or elsewhere would have to pay 3600 euro (2500 sterling in VRT (vehicle registration tax ...they screw us here in ireland on imports) so it boils down to 11K - 2.5K = 8.5K sterling..... so after that is 8500 a good price for this car (assuming of course it checks out and shes mint) guy selling it is 40+ , has a 911 too and a Merc and has hardly ever driven the soop and is letting it go Had it over with Chris wilson last year for BPU.....standard tiptronic TT apart from that... appreciate your opinion
  21. if a JSpec TT has a bonnet scoop and leather seats retro-fiited whats the quickest and most foolproof way to tell that its not a genuine UK car??
  22. remember seeing list - explaing the chasis codes for differnt models on the site somewhere but can't find it again!! i did try fro 20 mins....honest!
  23. Hi, i'm coming from ireland to hereford on saturday to look at a supra GZ 6speed - don't know nearly enough - could really use a pair of experienced eyes - especially as some concerns over over-boosting...................... if someone is even in 40 mile radius could test drive car to you.....any help greatly appreciated thanks, Seán
