I can personally vouch for TCB, bought some bits for my 1JZ some months back, Paul is a top boke, prices very keen.
-
Good to know. Also impressed by your ability to ID from what isn't the best image in terms of lighting. Oh and I do have the centre caps, they are tucked away, also painted matt black to match.

Thanks guys. The reason I ask is that I plan to sell my Soarer in the coming months and wonder whether to sell as is, with the 17" staggered rims or whether to put the standards wheels back on it. Car is low mileage, I am the only UK owner, since import in 2008. It looks and handles far better with the Supra rims if I'm honest. If I put the standard Soarer rims back on, I will need to budget for tyres and anything half decent will be about £300 at least, so unless they are selling for big money, then probably might not be worth taking them off...asking price and selling price are often two different things. Do I have the pre or post-facelift wheels?
-
Hello folks, any idea what a set of genuine 17" staggered Supra rims is worth these days? They are in good condition with 4 x plastic centre caps painted to match and the rims were powder coated matt black by Ibrar at Speedwells some time ago.

Thanks guys, TCB were indeed very good!

Thanks, Frank. I used [email protected], which might explain the bounce back. I will also try TCB. Any thoughts on BluePrint as an OEM supplier? I did a search and other forums seem to say their stuff is good quality, was just wondering if anyone has experience here.

I have used Steve on several occasions to get genuine Toyota parts, with a bit of a discount thrown in. I sent an email across today but it bounced, looks like he is no longer there? Is there a replacement contact anyone can share?

WOW! Very very impressive. -
Hello folks, I have a 1JZ Soarer and was wondering if anybody knew whether a Supra SMIC would be a relatively easy swap? I read here that a standard Supra SMIC would fit a Soarer with minimal mods, http://thirteenleftprojectsoarer.blogspot.com/2014/05/interesting-read-smic-side-mount.html Perhaps Chris will see this himself and comment. In an ideal scenario I'd be interested in having a CW Supra SMIC in the Soarer...

Looks to me to be the same car, but with different / painted wheels. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-Toyota-Supra-3-0-Twin-Turbo-UK-/172551369627?hash=item282cdcf39b%3Ag%3A1akAAOSwr~lYswbp&nma=true&si=PX7KDpxXFn9ffUCX6Wfn8%252FkpHaQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Is it just me, but in one of the images, the rear bumper looks a slightly different shade to the rest of the body?!

Nice. What did this set you back?

BIG BIG Problem - Anyone Live Near Hyper Sports & Racing, Wigan?

Was there any update on all this? -
Me personally, if I was to buy a C / D cat shell, I'd keep a record of condition when it was purchased and some photos of the build up to put any potential buyer's mind at rest when, at a later date, you might be thinking of letting the car go. There are cars out there that have been heavily knocked, but damage was never recorded, there are cars that have been lightly damaged but due to complexity or value, written off and then there are serious cases (as per the Corsa posted above), where a cat C / D is appropriate. Unfortunately, most people's idea / perception of a cat record is the last example...

I don't have anywhere to skim the discs...I might just add new pads and take it for a brisk drive. I'm guessing the pads will chew up the light rust on the disks? Thew discs have seen under 1k miles as the car is barely used, with no lip... - - - Updated - - - Possibly buddy, I will take the pads out at the weekend and compare to an OEM replacement from Mintex.
-
Interesting - would I hear any rubbing if they were seized? If I jack the car up at the rear and spin the wheels by hand, if they don't spin easy, does that suggest a stuck / clamped piston or not necessarily?
-
Thanks very much, those are the Mintex MDB1710 pads, available from eBay for £25 delivered, so I may as well just get those and bung them on. The rear discs don't have any lip, so should be fine (usually I replace discs and pads same time, but the rears seem to have little wear).
-
What I will do is see if I can get an OEM replacement pad spec from someone like Mintex or Ferodo and look at their spec sheet. The spec sheets usually show sizes and I can then compare this to the pad I have in there currently.
-
Hi chap, yes, its pretty much same on both sides. Pads are Endless pads, came as spares with the car so I just bunged them on when servicing. Your suggestion that it is pad size is quite logical actually... I haven't done a fluid change in about 4 years as the car is rarely used, I might do that and see if it will help?
-
Hi chaps, I looked at the rear of my Soarer today (it's not quite a Supra, but ) and noticed that whilst the front discs were totally rust free, on the rears, there is a band of rust. I'm wondering why this is? Is the rear caliper not working properly? Is the break pad too small? Something else I could have missed? Is this normal? Am I the only one with this issue? Any advice appreciated.

My head hurts looking at all the bits in the photos!

Anything over BPU - what fuel do you run your car on?
1JZGTE replied to 1JZGTE's topic in Supra Chat
Thanks for all the feedback guys! -
I guess what I'm trying to understand is how happy the Supra is running on regular unleaded. I know that some Jap cars are very sensitive to it (Impreza P1 for example) but what about the Supra? If it's tuned and mapped for regular unleaded then that's fine, but anybody here running BPU or higher and running it on regular unleaded?

Hi Chris, it deffo isn't a bulb in the boot as I took it out ages ago when it blew and never put a replacement back in. I also don't think it is interior lighting as I watched the car very carefully and in the dark to see if it was one of the interior lights or maybe a footwell light. Last thing to check is the stereo - will do that and report back with the results.

Hi Roger The battery will go flat in approximately 5 - 7 days, even when fully charged. The 136mA reading I took was with the car fully armed and locked, which is how it usually sits. If it went flat every 2 weeks, that would be fine, but once a week is annoying. I'm glad you guys think that the alt isn't an issue, so I guess I will just try to drive it a bit more often. I will also take Chris's advice and disconnect all audio related gadgets and see where that takes me Thanks again to everybody for their time and help.
