I’ve been trying to get an insurance quote prior to having an NA-TT conversion. I phoned Sky for a quote and let’s just say the guy on the other end of the phone didn’t fill me with confidence. He said that the underwriters have nothing to compare it too as it’s an NA with a TT engine so the quote was quite high (almost double what I’m paying on the NA! ). He then gave me the usual phone back if you get a cheaper quote etc and I’ll see what I can do.
Now if I inform the DVLA of the engine swap and it gets listed on the Log book as having a TT engine then couldn’t I just insure it as a TT? I’ve got quotes for a TT and they’re coming back almost identical to what I’m paying on the NA.
When I was 18 I had a Nova (don’t laugh) that had a 1.1 engine swapped to a 1.4 before I bought it. This was updated on the log book and it was simple to insure. None of this, ‘well it’s a 1.1 with a 1.4 engine so it’s going to cost lots more to insure’ like Sky told me.
Anyway, any help / info would be much appreciated
