Let the dog out last night for a wee before we went to bed and he did his usual thing of tearing down the garden barking and snorting to let all the cat's know they best get out of his garden, when all of a sudden he let out a loud squealing sound. At first we thought the cat had had a go back and given him a right hook but when we got to him he was sitting on his backside in extreme pain. My wife thought he had broken his leg so I picked him up put him in the van and went straight to the vets.
After an examination the vet said he hadn't broken his leg or dislocated it but my have broken his back:(, there than came a long half an hour whilst they took him for an x-ray. The good news was he hadn't broken anything but had slipped a disc which may be pushing on his spinal column. We had to leave him at the vet's so they can keep an eye on him and decided what cause of action to take, I think we got about 2 hours sleep last night.
My wife got a phone call this morning from the vet's to say he had improved a lot over night and was even trying to stand on his back leg's, so the vet has decided to cage rest him for 2 weeks only letting him out for a wee and poo but we must support his rear whilst he is out of the cage. So fingers crossed all will be well, if not he will need to see a specialist to give him a CAT scan (don't tell the dog he will go nut's) to see the damage and cut him open to remove part of his spine to relive the pressure. This part will not be covered by his insurance and could cost between £3000 - £5000
Were off to see him later so finger's crossed.
