I do have an agreed value on mine as well and since the latest raft of modifications mine has gone up to reflect the new goodies!! Think it's £11,000 at the moment? John is a good sort and a few friends have tried him when I suggested it and have taken out cover with him so there is normally a good deal for most people regardless of your circumstances. I also work in insurance (not car I should quickly point out!!) but it does help because when asked for my profession I reply 'I work in insurance so don't try stitching me up as I know how the game works!' normally does the trick for most insurance stuff car, house, travel etc!! As you say it's another possibility and given the increase in younger Supra owners these days, it's no bad thing! (Having insurers to cover them is what I mean!!). The other thing is he specialises in Jap imports (my Supe is a UK but my 300zx was j-spec as was my MR2 and my Skyline) so they don't make a big issue about them as quite a number of companies do these days! Mine has gone down EVERY year since I took the policy out despite more modifications!!!! Can't ask for more than that really! Pete

Hey all, Now I know we have a group offer with Sky Insurance so this may or may not be any use to you all! I've been using Keith Michaels for over 5 years now and have been so impressed with the service and very competitive quotes I haven't needed to go anywhere since! I only tend to deal with John Roberts who is a fellow Japanese Performance car owner and a great laugh to speak to. My cover which is fully comp and includes a 'like for like' replacement of my disclosed aftermarket parts is £670 a year and thats for a 26 yr old and has no restrictions on annual mileage or needing a garage etc! You need a CAT 1 alarm and immobiliser but then again EVERYONE who has a nice car needs these IMHO. I've already spoken to John to see what the increase will be for my single conversion which we've not finished discussing but let's just say it's VERY good! Give him a call direct on: 0208 288 0844 and tell him Peter Payne from the forum suggested you give him a ring for a quote and see what he can do. The cover can also be upgraded for track days and they actually know what these cars are and what performance parts are worth!!!!!! I'm not looking to be biased or believe for a minute that John can help out everyone but he's a genuinely nice bloke who you can have a joke with and will do everything possible to help sort you out a good quote! Just a suggestion. Cheers, Pete

Hey Rob, Sounds a bit similiar to what I had with mine a month or two back! When it does the cutting are you finding any carbon residue coming out of the exhaust?? I had a similar hesitance that was due to a couple of things: Poor connections to the FMIC (i.e loose intercooler pipes and collars) and a faulty coilpack connector (these are very flimsy and suffer from excess heat so become brittle and break when changing the plugs). Have you got an FMIC or the stock SMIC? I'm running on Tesco Super Unleaded at the moment with no obvious side affects so I'd imagine it's not the fuel. Just MHO m8 but might give you a starting point! Cheers, Pete

Looks like it was a pure overfueling issue and with a couple of loose pipes fitted back properly and the intercooler pipe sleeves all replaced and re-connected the car is running fine again! Thanks to all of you for your advice/tips and hopefully she'll be ok now. Cheers, Pete

H E L P ! ! I lost power last night and managed to limp home! idle is really lumpy and it's spewing out sooty deposits from the exhaust (literally small lumps of carbon). Any ideas what this could be?! thinking turbos as it's a black smoke and can't see any other faults??? All help appreciated peeps. Cheers, Pete

Hey all, Am sadly due down the post office in the next day or two and just wondered what payment methods were acceptable these days?! Seem to recall always paying cash!! With the extortionate current cost of 12 months road fund license I'd need a Securicor Truck and a couple of heavies!!!! I mean £170.00!!! What a scam! Would be easier to stick on the Credit Card but not sure if I can pay with one and if I do, what they charge for you doing so!! Any help appreciated!! Cheers, Pete

I've PM'd you Matt hope that's ok? Just wondered how you got on? Cheers, Pete

Cheers Matt if you could let me know how it all goes that'd be a big help!! Would save me the cost of getting mine all fitted only for it not to work!! Can think of a few other things that need to doing where the money can be spent if there is a problem at the moment. Will wait to hear from you. Pete

The problem apparently is that it won't rev past 6,000 rpm. This is what Paul was told by a chap from the US. Not saying thats the case but what he was advised. As Paul says no way of knowing for sure without trying it!!!! Looks like i'll be a guinea-pig!!! Pete

Sorry to bump this back to life but just found out the E-Manage Ultimate I want won't work on my UK spec TT. Does anyone know any more about this or where I can find out? Tried e-mailing Greddy and checked their webpage but doesn't seem to say what the problem is?! Apparently it's being worked on by them as the US spec cars are also non-compliant?!?!?!?!?! I'm only relaying what Paul Whiffin has told me and presumably it's what the Greddy supplier he uses has told him?! Why is it that everyone including some magazines that will stay unnamed rave about the UK cars?! Ok bigger injectors, gearbox cooler, glass headlights, bigger brakes, bonnet scoop but no aftermarket parts seem to work with them!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and insurance is cheaper but then modified examples aren't that much less!!!!!! Rant over and any help or advice always welcome! Cheers, Pete

Hi all, I have tried a thread search iro the above and could only find a thread by SupraJames back in 2005 which no one posted to (except James himself!). Does anyone know what's involved in removing the airbag? and will this leave a warning light on the dashboard?! If so, can it be rectifed by connecting to something elsa with a permanent feed?? or can it be disconnected permanently?? I'm asking because I want to fit the gauge holder that fits in that space and because I have a 2 year old son who i'd prefer to sit beside me than in the back!! With the carseats they warn you not to fit the seats with airbags! On a sidenote, my ex's folks have a Pug 406 which has a keyhole that you can use to turn the airbag off if required, could there be a similar solution on the Supe?? All ideas/suggestions appreciated!! Cheers, Pete

Thanks for the welcome all and I hope to see some of you at the different meets this year! Was a great buy in my opinion and the humourous thing is I still haven't seen the car in the flesh so to speak!!! Just the pics that were posted! It was the UK car status and the spec list that did all the talking for me and I was happy to buy without even hearing the engine start up!! I can tell this was the bargain of the year and I'm glad I pushed the extra bit to find the cash! Thanks again to all and I look forward to receiving your call Rob once we're good to go! Cheers, Pete

Like the Avatar??? No pending the clearance of the final cheque sometime towards the end of the week I will be the lucky new owner!! To say i'm well chuffed would be a major understatement! I'll hopefully catch you all at one or other show this year (normally attend the Japshows at SantaPod with SteveL). Look forward to meeting you all soon and a major thumbs up to Robert for selling me his gorgeous Supe!! I hope all works out for you Rob and that one day your back behind the wheel of another top notch motor!! Cheers, Pete

Will reiterate what I said to start with great info all and really helpful! This forum is still the best for tech info and help!! If I wasn't already part of the Skyline Owners Club I can guarantee that without a username like 'BuxomBetty' I'd get no responses at all!!! Thanks again and hope to speak to you all again soon and maybe see some of you at the Japshow in 2006?? Does the camber sands runs still take place or is that a thing of the past now?? Pete

Cheers for that Ro m8. (was getting a bit worried!!! 30 odd views and no messages?!?!) The hi bit was more the reason for the thread as there doesn't appear to be a newbie area?!?!? Thanks again for that and will search the FAQ's for more info on the UK/Jap Spec divide! Pete

Hey all, Been a VERY long time since I was on this forum! So long I couldn't remember or find my login details so a new ID for me!! I went to one of the Camber Sands runs a few years back now when Justin Fodden was on the scene! oh and JIC was the place to buy Supes from!! My partner at the time drove a Silver Veilside kitted twin turbo which suprised a few people when I had to confess it was hers!! I know a couple of the people on here namely Paul Whiffin and a chap called Steve Linton who are both top blokes! I've moved up from an MR2 G-Ltd to a couple of 300ZX TT's to my current R33 GTS-25T and am now after my dream car namely a Twin-Turbo Supe!! (Just waiting on bonuses which should be around Feb!). Enough with the intro's - Does anyone know if there are any differences when buying tuning parts for a UK spec car from say Japan or the US? I know that the UK cars have some uprated parts as standard over the J-Spec namely bigger brakes, glass headlights, bigger oil cooler and metal blades in the tubbies but are the engines identical?? (both badged as 2JZ-GTE as far as I can tell!!). Hopefully in a couple of months I'll be posting a lot more and from memory this was by far the best forum I've been part of!! Cheers to all and a Happy Christmas and a fab New Year to you all! Pete
