  1. Hey all, We have 26 members interested and may be losing 5 due to the date but hopefully not! This should be a great day out and a chance to meet other members, discuss our prides and joyes and munch a few burgers washed down with some good beer (or wine, spirits etc! ). ANYONE who wants to come along is welcome and by all means bring a m8 or the missus as it's a family pub with a good sized beer garden and if the weather is kind, will be fun for everyone. There is the option of camping the night before (Saturday 8th July) for anyone who's interested which hopefully will allow any members from further afield to attend. The event is for Essex Air Ambulance which is a worthy charity that have saved many a motorist's life by being able to administer treatment straight away and get them to hopsital faster than by road. We will have a raffle on the day with some prizes and some t-shirts and trophies for various aspects of the cars on display. The T-Shirts will be £5 per shirt and all the money will be put into the charity collection at the end of the day. If anyone would like to help or has an idea that may help to improve the day for us all, please PM me so we can discuss it. Paul Whiffin of Whifbitz will be on hand to help with any technical queries I'm sure and will be bringing a handful of some of the nicest, extremely powerful Japanese performace cars around in addition to anything elsa he feels like! (may be doing some E-Manage mapping but that's for him to decide as would the likely cost). What I should stress most is this day will be about having a good laugh, enjoying some good grub, drinking a few pints and meeting the faces/people behind the usernames and raising some much needed money for a worthy cause. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the day and please add your username to this list if you wish to attend to help me gauge the amount of food we will need!: 1. owenreme 2. markymark 3. damanc 4. supraloopy 5. ouch got me 6. edd t 7. lee s 8. sexy-jo 9. robert 10. mr.b 11. supragold 12. kopite 13. whitesupratt 14. 2. One last thing guys and girls, I'm going to start a fresh thread to make this easier to track so please post any replies/info to the new thread not this one. Thanks again for the initial interest all it should be a great day out!! Cheers, Pete
  3. Right. The results are in (pending 3 who haven't replied! ). It seems the weekend of the 8th/9th has got the vote by a narrow margin at the moment with most of you ok to attend either (always a huge help so thanks for that!! ). If anyone can't make it on the 9th that will be a real shame but unfortunatley with these types of event we can't please everyone! There are still a good few weeks to go until the event so maybe you can re-arrange your schedule and attend??? The aim is to raise as much for the charity as we can and this has to remain the priority. My initial enquires regarding the rolling road have hit a brick wall in that the machine is only rated to 450BHP (at the flywheel) which really isn't man enough for the task given the big power attendees!! I will endevour to find someone elsa before the big day but can't promise anything so bear with me!!! Does the idea of a dyno on-site appeal to people generally or are you not that bothered?! Reason I ask is if we can't secure a good number of attendees interested then no company will want to travel over and setup for 2 power runs which is fair enough! I can now focus more on getting things organised as I have a fixed date to work from so watch this space!!! Thanks again all! Pete
  4. Supragold - If you could have a word with him m8 I'd really appreciate it!!! With Paul Whiffin attending and bringing down a few other cars (hopefully including Daz's new toy!!!) he'll have over 2,000 BHP alone!!!!!!! I will e-mail the mag once we have the date confirmed anyway to see if I can twist their arm!! After all, they attended the Norwich Scooby meet which was for Children In Need and gave that a 2 page spread!!!!!! Pete
  5. 5 left to reply regarding the possible dates people!! Going to be a close run thing!!! Just to clarify something the dates I offered are Saturday and Sunday but the Saturday is only for people looking to camp the night before the event. The actual dates available for the meet are: Sunday 9th July or Sunday 16th July (noticed a couple of people stuck the 8th or the 15th down!!! doh! ). I've not heard back from the rolling road people yet so will look again today and see if there is a phone number on their website instead as e-mail doesn't seem to have done any good!! Keep em coming guys and girls as the more the merrier!!! Cheers, Pete
  6. Seems only right to offer you a lift Jo!! As expected the chance to have an attractive passenger has sent the red blooded males on the forum wild!!! If you don't mind an earlyish start that is!!! Let me know either way as your not far from me. Your call. Cheers, Pete
  7. Hi again! There are no limitations on who you bring along and although the limelight will be on the Supra attendance, any other Jap performance cars will be welcome!! Only thing that is a compulsory part of proceedings is a £10 donation which goes staright in the charity pot and covers your first burger/hotdog and that's per person. Are most people signed up bringing a 2nd person with them???? If so, that would be great as it means approx 40 people so far!!! Iro the 'I may turn up on the day' comment, this will be a bit difficult as hopefully every one can appreciate there is a lot of logistical preparation and planning in getting something like this organised and I need a fairly accurate idea of numbers to get enough food ordered in advance so no one goes hungry. I should also add I checked the up-coming events section of Banzai this month and from what I can see there are no major (or even minor) events taking place on either of the 2 possible dates I suggested. Any queries either post them here or PM me. Thanks, Pete
  8. Ok 10 of the original 20 interested have now responded on preferred dates. Can the remaining 10 get back to me asap as I need to confirm a date to arrange the catering and also contact J-Tuner to see if we can get them to attend. The good news is anyone wanting to come along who has a long journey can pitch a tent at the pub in the lower garden on the Saturday night ready for the event on Sunday. Let me know if this is of interest to anyone. Also, from the Landlady's perspective, there is no problem having a rolling road on the premises so i'll let you all know when the guys running it get back to me. Can anyone who might be interested in a power-run put their name down so I can get an idea of numbers as no doubt they will have some sort of minimum requirement if they don't charge a fixed fee for attending. Once again a big thanks to all for your interest so far and lets hope we can get some more members signed up to make it a really good turnout and a fun day for all. Cheers, Pete
  9. Keep it up please guys and gals with the suggested dates and what you can attend. Ok, I mentioned a possible menu earlier which is as follows: - Burgers (all sauces, cheese etc available) - Hotdogs (again with the sauces etc) - Chicken Legs - Jacket Potatos with beans or cheese or both! or plain! - A Salad Style bar with cold meats, potato salad, Quiche, Mixed Salad, Crisps and a selection of dips I think that should hopefully cover most bases as any vegetarians can go with the potatos or salad bar and if I can get enough advance warning i'll try to arrange some Quorn or Linda McCartney burgers/sausages in advance. I've made some enquires regarding the hire of a portable rolling road and will let you know when I get any replies. Can I have a show of numbers who'd possibly want their cars put on the dyno please?? Obviously the cost of a run will be a major factor but I will post the prices up when known. Thanks again. Pete
  10. Your wish may be my command!! I'm going to ask the Landlady if we could use the lower lawn at the pub to pitch some tents on the Saturday evening for anyone wishing to travel down and be on-site for the Sunday event. I can't see this will be a big problem although it would mean a relatively early start for any happy campers as the area in question will be needed later in the day for seating etc! I think I've narrowed the potential dates down to 2 possibilities both in July. We can either do Sat 8th and Sun 9th or Sat 15th and Sun 16th??? What I suggest is using the current list with the 19 usernames already signed up, please indicate which dates are best for you. If you can do either, please just write 'BOTH' next to your name or '8th/9th' '15th/16th'. We will aim to find the dates which will best suit the majority in order to gain maximum attendance. On a separate note I am going to look into finding a portable RWD rolling road which we can setup on the day for some powerruns as it seems a suitable venue given the number of conversations usualy heard at the pub about massive BHP outputs!! Obviously it'll depend on the costs involved and whether we can find a suitable number of cars to make the trip worthwhile for the owners of the rolling road. Watch this space!!!! I've managed to scribble down an initial menu which i'll post up at lunchtime to give people an idea of what food will be available. If there are suggestions for items i've not listed please send me a PM. Thanks again all and hopefully with a good few weeks to get things organised, this will be a great and exciting day out for all of you and all for the benefit of a worthy charitable cause. Cheers, Pete
  11. All Pigs are welcome to attend and WILL NOT be roasted or eaten! On a more serious note i'll be finding out the costs involved in hiring the guys that do the hog roast as I seem to think they may be quite expensive to hire! If the numbers can warrant the additional cost then thats not a worry but the main aim of the day is to earn as much for the charity as possible whilst having a great time. If we go just BBQ it'll mean greater range of food i.e burgers, hotdogs, chicken legs, salads etc........ Can anyone with vegetarian requirements PM me to get an idea on numbers and possible alternatives such as Quorn maybe?! Thanks again and keep adding your names guys and galz! CJ - I understand that entirely but not everyone will have as far to travel and even if they do what could be more fun than cruising down in a convoy (hopefully with the sun shining!) to a BBQ and meet with other owners?! There must be more than 13 owners in East Anglia probably Essex alone!!!! I attended TOTB II and that was Yorkshire!!!!!! There and back in a day was a major roadtrip!!!! Good laugh though! Pete
  12. To Summarise so far: 217 views and only 18 replies?! WTF?! If someone could expand on what the reason is for such low interest when no date has been confirmed yet and the venue is VERY easy to get to from near enough anywhere in the UK for a friendly charity themed event with food, drinks and a bundle of other stuff for a £10?! Sorry but that barely registers on a Supe fuel gauge!!!! So hopefully it's not the money that is the issue?! I'm struggling to organise a fun day out for us all as enthusiasts which can boost the club profile and give new people (me for one!) a chance to meet other users face to face and have a beer and a burger and hopefully make Essex Air Ambulance a bit of money as well given they get no funding from the government and are solely reliant on charitable donations to keep their helicopter(s) in the air. I've also said from the start if anyone has any ideas or thinks something should or shouldn't be included speak up so no one can accuse me of not trying to be flexible!! Anyways enough ranting on and a big thanks to the 13 people who have shown some interest. They are as follows: - owenreme - markymark - damanc - supraloopy - ouch got me - edd t - lee s - sexy-jo - robert - mr.b - supragold - kopite - whitesupratt The landlady is very happy for us to use the pub for this and has given the full thumbs up! From a couple of posts to date it seems a Sunday is best (speak up if you can't do this although majority will have to prevail as I won't be able to please everyone) and maybe in July? How does that sound?? Any new attendees can you please paste the above list and add you name for me. Final point, we have an overflow train station car park for non-supe/jap performance cars nearby so can accomadate families and dogs if that helps stir more interest. Above all it'll be fun and something better to do than sit at home!!!!! Cheers, Pete
  13. Just a quick update: - Possibility for some T-Shirts being available on the day. Looking at £5 per shirt with the money also going to Essex Air Ambulance. I'll get a demo made up in advance and post some pics for people to look at to gauge interest. - May be a raffle for a basic service at Whifbitz (i'll be buying the parts needed and Paul will hopefully do the labour for free!! ). Thinking £20 per ticket. -What would people prefer a hog roast or a BBQ with burgers, hot dogs, chicken legs etc?? - Will be some small awards for best modified, concourse condition etc. Any other suggestions are more than welcome and please spread the word to all you know (doesn't have to be just the East as it's a doddle to get to from the M11 so people from Kent, Surrey, Norwich, Ipswich etc are all welcome to attend). I've Pm'd Mawby to see if I can post the thread in the Overall Events area to give this some more coverage as we will be able to have a minimum of 30 and probably nearer 50 cars in attendance!! Can I ask you to start a list with Username + no of people who will attend please I appreciate no dates are available yet so it may be tricky to confirm for certain but i'm meeting the Landlady tonight and will ask her to tell me what dates are available. Final thing, would people generally prefer to do a Saturday or a Sunday?? Thanks all for the initial interest. Cheers, Pete
  14. Hey all, I'm based near Saffron Walden which is close to both Cambridge and Bishops Stortford and near the Stansted Airport Junction of the M11. My local pub 'The Fighting Cocks' (no rude comments please! ) do a lot of fundraising for Essex Air Ambulance and have a reputation in the motorbike world as a biker friendly pub! Basically, they have a large car park suitable for at least 40 cars and a nice pub garden which we could use as well as barbeque facilities and even a hog roast!!! If I can get some feedback on possible numbers then I can have a word with the landlady and see if we can organise something for a Saturday or Sunday sometime this summer? I thought a donation of £10 per person for Essex Air Ambulance and say a burger or hotdog included for that price with everyone buying their own drinks and any other food would be a fair deal?? Would be a good opportunity to get a group of enthusiasts/owners together to see what everyone has done to their cars over the winter and meet some new faces. If anyone is interested or has any suggestions please respond on this thread or PM me and we can try to organise something. Thanks all, Pete
  15. Hey All, I'm based between Bishops Stortford and Cambridge (M11 is close by) and am looking to find a rolling road nearby to see what power the car is producing at the moment. Has anyone been to or know of a rolling road nearby that I can go to? I don't mind an hour's drive but any greater than that would be a touch excessive!! Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Cheers. Pete
  16. I do have an agreed value on mine as well and since the latest raft of modifications mine has gone up to reflect the new goodies!! Think it's £11,000 at the moment? John is a good sort and a few friends have tried him when I suggested it and have taken out cover with him so there is normally a good deal for most people regardless of your circumstances. I also work in insurance (not car I should quickly point out!!) but it does help because when asked for my profession I reply 'I work in insurance so don't try stitching me up as I know how the game works!' normally does the trick for most insurance stuff car, house, travel etc!! As you say it's another possibility and given the increase in younger Supra owners these days, it's no bad thing! (Having insurers to cover them is what I mean!!). The other thing is he specialises in Jap imports (my Supe is a UK but my 300zx was j-spec as was my MR2 and my Skyline) so they don't make a big issue about them as quite a number of companies do these days! Mine has gone down EVERY year since I took the policy out despite more modifications!!!! Can't ask for more than that really! Pete
  17. Hey all, Now I know we have a group offer with Sky Insurance so this may or may not be any use to you all! I've been using Keith Michaels for over 5 years now and have been so impressed with the service and very competitive quotes I haven't needed to go anywhere since! I only tend to deal with John Roberts who is a fellow Japanese Performance car owner and a great laugh to speak to. My cover which is fully comp and includes a 'like for like' replacement of my disclosed aftermarket parts is £670 a year and thats for a 26 yr old and has no restrictions on annual mileage or needing a garage etc! You need a CAT 1 alarm and immobiliser but then again EVERYONE who has a nice car needs these IMHO. I've already spoken to John to see what the increase will be for my single conversion which we've not finished discussing but let's just say it's VERY good! Give him a call direct on: 0208 288 0844 and tell him Peter Payne from the forum suggested you give him a ring for a quote and see what he can do. The cover can also be upgraded for track days and they actually know what these cars are and what performance parts are worth!!!!!! I'm not looking to be biased or believe for a minute that John can help out everyone but he's a genuinely nice bloke who you can have a joke with and will do everything possible to help sort you out a good quote! Just a suggestion. Cheers, Pete
  18. Hey Rob, Sounds a bit similiar to what I had with mine a month or two back! When it does the cutting are you finding any carbon residue coming out of the exhaust?? I had a similar hesitance that was due to a couple of things: Poor connections to the FMIC (i.e loose intercooler pipes and collars) and a faulty coilpack connector (these are very flimsy and suffer from excess heat so become brittle and break when changing the plugs). Have you got an FMIC or the stock SMIC? I'm running on Tesco Super Unleaded at the moment with no obvious side affects so I'd imagine it's not the fuel. Just MHO m8 but might give you a starting point! Cheers, Pete

  20. Looks like it was a pure overfueling issue and with a couple of loose pipes fitted back properly and the intercooler pipe sleeves all replaced and re-connected the car is running fine again! Thanks to all of you for your advice/tips and hopefully she'll be ok now. Cheers, Pete
  21. H E L P ! ! I lost power last night and managed to limp home! idle is really lumpy and it's spewing out sooty deposits from the exhaust (literally small lumps of carbon). Any ideas what this could be?! thinking turbos as it's a black smoke and can't see any other faults??? All help appreciated peeps. Cheers, Pete
  22. Hey all, Am sadly due down the post office in the next day or two and just wondered what payment methods were acceptable these days?! Seem to recall always paying cash!! With the extortionate current cost of 12 months road fund license I'd need a Securicor Truck and a couple of heavies!!!! I mean £170.00!!! What a scam! Would be easier to stick on the Credit Card but not sure if I can pay with one and if I do, what they charge for you doing so!! Any help appreciated!! Cheers, Pete
  23. I've PM'd you Matt hope that's ok? Just wondered how you got on? Cheers, Pete
  24. Cheers Matt if you could let me know how it all goes that'd be a big help!! Would save me the cost of getting mine all fitted only for it not to work!! Can think of a few other things that need to doing where the money can be spent if there is a problem at the moment. Will wait to hear from you. Pete
  25. The problem apparently is that it won't rev past 6,000 rpm. This is what Paul was told by a chap from the US. Not saying thats the case but what he was advised. As Paul says no way of knowing for sure without trying it!!!! Looks like i'll be a guinea-pig!!! Pete
