Right, As requested this is the new thread for the meet/bbq I am trying to organise in aid of Medics at The Fighting Cocks Public House, Wendens Ambo, Essex. The pub is easily reached from the A11,A14,M25 or M11 and no doubt other routes would be possible. The aim is to get as many Supe's together as possible for a kind of mini supe only Bolney affair that can be done every year if peeps enjoy it! The car park and bottom lawn at the pub will allow us to get at least 50 cars in so space isn't a problem!! The following names are from the last thread so please tag yourself on the end with any preferences you have. Steve Chalmers from J-Tuner also hopes to attend so we may get some good publicity for the club as well as raising money for a good cause. The entry is £10 per person but includes the first burger etc and there will be promotional t-shirts on the day, a raffle, award ceremony for various classes i.e cleanest engine bay etc plus any other suggestions you may have. Any queries please post them up or PM me directly. 1. Peter P - Both days are fine 2. EncoreWRC, missus an kids 27th august 3. Supragold - Both days are fine 4. markymark+ bird both days should be fine get the ribs on 5. lee s both fine for me 6. Yewtave - Lazy Bones 7. MrRalphMan - Either day - Prob Just me - Eat anything but sweetcorn 8. MR.B - Either day - Burgers all the way - plenty of sweetcorn for Ralph 9. Paul Whiffin, either 10. Dazza, either 11. SteveL - 20th ( not defo on 27th yet...) 12. Andy Supra + 1 (both days are fine) If the dates clash or are no good then let me know that as well. I really want this to be a big event with maximum turnout for the club and the charity so we will be as flexible as possible on dates. Thanks in advance and here's hoping for a nice day and a good turnout!! All the best, Pete

As per letmeshowyou suggestion, am going to start a new thread with the two revised dates and transfer the names already on the list so if a mod can close/end this thread I'd appreciate it. Cheers, Pete -

Don't think it's you or anyone inparticular causing people to not attend I've met a fair few of the people from here at either the Japshow, My School Fete/BBQ thing we did in Kent or at the Ace Cafe night and was really impressed with how approachable and friendly most of us are. I can't understand why this is not a popular event as how many of these type of meets occur and where we are the only club to attend (decided it would be nice to have a MKIV exclusive meet so no other jap cars would be joining us)?? The car park meets and a pint in the local definately have there place in the scheme of things but this was an attempt at a Bolney-esque Supra event I would organise on a yearly basis (maybe even 2 a year if it proved popular enough!). It would be for a good charitable cause and would be a cheap day out with cold beer, bbq food and a chance to chat with other members and see what they've been doing with their cars etc. If it's the dates that are the problem then please say so and we can try a re-think for sometime that will be more suitable i'm not fussed but obviously want to get the maximum possible turnout!! It would be great if we did get a HUGE turnout and I had to make a last minute dash to Tesco for 200 burgers!!!!! I'll keep bumping the thread to keep it at the top of the list as I need to get a descision one way or another in the next week or two. Cheers, Pete -

Hi Guys and Girls, The good news is the pub have nothing booked in for August so we can have our choice of the last 2 Sundays (either 20th or 27th), the bad news is with only 12 people confirmed despite previous interest reaching nearer the 26/30 mark I can't really see tehe point to be honest! If we can't as a club get at least 30 cars to attend a fun, CHEAP (don't hear that word much with these cars! ) and entertaining day out with fellow owners in a non-competitive enviroment then what does that say about us a club?! The Scooby boys do LOADS of these type of events and earn considerable money for good causes and never suffer with a lack of attendees!!! I'm not trying to throw my toys out the pram etc but i've tried asking for advice on what people would want from the day, cancelled the first date due to the world cup final, tried getting Thor to bring a dyno but they don't want to travel that far and with their recent actions against the club, it may be better to not have them there! I am asking for £10 a head to the charity which also covers the first burger or whatever, trying to organise some prizes for a raffle, got some gorgeous crystal awards being engraved for best on day, nicest engine bay, best ice install etc etc etc!!!!!!!!! I am really at a loss as to what I have to do to get some more interest?!?!?!?!?! The location is about 15mins from the Stanstead junction of the M11 and is esay to get to, the carpark is being resurfaced today to eliminate the uneven surface and potholes, the landlady is looking forward to a good turn out and Steve Chalmers from J-Tuner wants to attend for some photos and a possible article in a future issue!!!! If we can't make this work and start getting some proper numbers then I'll have no choice but to pull the plug which would be a great shame and my sincere apologies to the 12 who have asked to attend. I'm not willing to fund a huge number of items including food on the off-chance lots of people will show up on the day! This needs planning and a fair guess at number of attendees in advance if it's going to work properly. Rant over and sorry if I seem touchy but I can't understand the lack of interest when I know from looking over our A-Z of members, there are at least 50 in Cambridge, Suffolk and Hertfordshire which are all in easy travelling distance of the venue. Just a shame that's all. Pete -
Not sure if this will work but try clicking on the link below which shows the pics and text as it appeared the last time on Autotrader. Only difference is the price has now dropped to £4,000 as it needs tax and my bottom end is knocking so need to get it fixed!! Really is a gr8 car in very good condition for very little money! http://sell.autotrader.co.uk/uk-ola/cars/RebookEmailResponse.do?sessionId=00000000-1111-6881-1513-518479089087&emailResponse=1 If that fails, I have the pics and a description stored on this PC so can e-mail anyone if needed. Thanks. Pete
-
Not sure on the whole uploading process!!! Normally get Steve L to do all that sort of thing for me!!! send my your e-mail via PM and will send some to you if interested. Cheers, Pete
-

Looking for £4,000 no offers. Cheers, Pete

Thanks for the reply. Any chance of any pictures to include the blades please Dimitri? I need to sell the Skyline I have before I can spend that kinda money but that seems a fair price for what you're offering. Will PM if I get the money soon enough to snap this up!! Knowing my luck someone will beat me to the punch!!! Thanks. Pete

You have a PM. Cheers, Pete

The air-con problem is normal. I drive mum's Astra auto estate during the week and it's weedy 1.4 engine struggles with the aircon on (less pickup and acceleration). Sounds like either a cooling issue or possibly a problem with the airflow meter (don't shoot me down not sure if the Yaris has one of these but must have some sort of metering system to do with airflow??). I assume you've tried the normal stuff like fluid level, squeezing the top and bottom rad pipes to check for fluid/heat?? If the system is pumping the fluids arouns as they should be then maybe thermostat?? Could check air filter and airbox for any debris that may be restricting the incoming airflow (had that happen once with a garage who left part of the old filter in situ and stuffed the new one on top!). The only thing that is a mystery is why no fault codes are showing up at all?!?! Doesn't help matters as a rough idea of where the fault is located would soon help to get a better idea of the problem/solution. May be worth asking them to try the diagnostics again on a day like today with the aircon on and with the engine up to temperature to see if that helps? (I remember seeing a thread somewhere on how the first time it came up all good and then on a second attempt had 3 faults! was within a few minutes of each other as well from memory!) Sorry if that's not what you were looking for m8, just felt sorry for you not getting any replies and thought i'd offer my 2p worth!!! Just my opinion. Hope you get it sorted. All the best, Pete

Hi, Saw a nice Silver Facelift Auto on a 'P' reg with a distinctive silver tinted rear screen with 'Supra' logo. Looked very clean although mostly standard except a nice set of aftermarket alloys. Anyone from here??? Pete

Hey Guys, I know this thread is pretty much dead and buried but just wondered if everyone had received their thank you letters yet?? Should have got them middle/end of last week? If not, can you let me know please. Thanks again guys was a great day and as they mentioned in their letter hopefully we can do something bigger and better next year?! RobAce - I'll PM you soon m8 although looks like mine will be selling to make way for a bit of a beasty next!!!! (watch this space!!) Pete

Meet/BBQ - Sunday 9th July 06 - Fighting Cocks Pub, Wendens Ambo, Essex

Anymore 4 anymore?!?!?!?!?!?! We had a considerably larger number of people showing some interest in this originally yet only 12 confirmed so far?! I really need to get a date finalised to organise things properly so can anyone who likes the sound of a casual meet with a few beers and a burger or 2 sign up ASAP please!!!!! This is for a good charitable cause and if we get J-Tuner to attend, could prove to be a really good day out. Any queries, either post them up or PM me. Thanks all, Pete -
Thanks Guys. I did try a search first I swear and put in ' double clutching' and it returned no results?! Sorry for the re-post!!! Pete

I've heard the term thrown around a fair bit (most recently from the original Fast and the Furious film) but does anyone know an idiots definition of what this actually involves as far as how you work the pedal differently to a normal clutch down, select gear, release clutch..........................................??? Sorry if that is a thick question just been bugging me after a m8 asked what it mean't and I had to say I didn't have a clue!!!! Cheers guys, Pete

Right. Now that i've got the Summer School Fete I did for my nephews and neices last Saturday, I am 100% focused on getting this meeting organised. Steve Chalmers has been in touch from J-Tuner to find out when we are hosting this as he may well be able to attend and bring a snapper with him for a future article in the mag which is great. I've mentioned the last 2 Sundays in August which is where we got to before it went all quiet!! So it's a choice of: - Sunday 20th August or - Sunday 27th August I've had a few peeps post their agreements but am still quite short of the original list and have spoken with some of you at The Japshow, School Fete meet and the Ace Cafe night who thought it sounded like a good event and one they would like to attend. My first priority is to fix a date which will be suitable for the majority of you to attend so more comments on the 2 possibilities above please!! The cause is now changing to Medics who also do a lot of very good medical deeds including roadside accident assistance etc. The reason for the change from Essex Air Ambulance is that despite e-mailing them on several occasions for their input, I still haven't heard a word back!! Considering this is a fund raising event we are doing off our own backs and is costing them nothing, I'm a bit put off by their lack of professional courtesy! Pete at Thor doesn't wish to travel to us so the rolling road may be a no-go unless we can find someone elsa before then. Otherwise, we could arrange an afternoon session somewhere for the convoy to go and do some power runs which would be a memorable journey with 30+ supra's!!!! Any thoughts or suggestions please add here or PM me. All the best, Pete -

Can I also join the line for the complete engine, gearbox and ancillaries for a manual conversion on my UK auto please m8. What mileage have these bits covered?? Found out my bottom end is starting to knock at the Ace Cafe meet last night so looks like a replacement is needed!! PM me please. Cheers, Pete -
Paul Whiffin at Whifbitz is a recognised supplier for both the Recaro's and Corbeau's. He can get the specific MK IV Sub-frames. Pete http://www.whifbitz.co.uk

Yes m8. Purple middle with blue on the edges/teeth of the pulleys. If your after a set and a descent cambelt try Paul Whiffin at Whifbitz (that's where I got my pulleys and he does a nice uprated belt as well). Cheers, Pete

That is a good pic Rob for a camera phone anyways!! There were some proper digital high res ones taken on the day as well which will be sent to me at some stage next week I hope so will upload them once received. Footie was predictable though to be honest and we can't claim to have played that well in this world cup! Lucky we got as far as we did in some ways!!! I drove home at 2am last night, been with my son all today and am ready to sleep for a week!!! RobAce can I PM you iro the DIY single you did please m8? Just wondering if you'd be for hire with enough beer and snacks of course!!! People were still talking about our drivers start your engines moment when I left at 2am so it's safe to say we made a lasting impression!!! More Supe's next year and maybe some other clubs as well?? Great day out and really nice to meet you all!!! Pete
-
Hey Guys, Still at the pub you all went to watching the football. I've got to say it again, thank you all soooo much for coming along. Everyone is still talking about it and Gamer escaped with no paint damage!! Was great 2 meet you all and see some great Supe's. A huge thanks 2 one and all. Now where's that aftersun?! I look like Gamer's paint!!

Thanks for letting us know Tom. All the best and hope the car is sorted out for you in the near future. Ok, then there were 7: 1. Peter P 2. Adam 3. ChrisSZ (late arrival expected!) 4. Gamer 5. RobAce 6. BURT 7. zap Cheers Tom and Chris for the directional input, if you aim for the town hall at 10:30 that's fine otherwise, use the postcode I supplied and I'll meet you all at my bro's house - which ever you prefer. Any questions or problems please give me a call. Oh, nearly forgot, they have suggested we allow the kids to have pictures taken with their favorite car (Gamer will be busy I reckon!! ). Is this ok with everyone?? I aim to stay close to the cars all day anyway as I am responisble for our presence so will make sure no one does anything dodgy. Let me know please guys. Look forward to seeing you all Saturday morning! All the best, Pete
