  1. Hey All, Been a while since I’ve had any news or progress to report on my build. Funds were running low so I’ve been patiently waiting to get things moving again. Booked in for the next stage of development with SRD on the 27th March. Biggest job and change being the fitment of this rather tasty V161 6-speed manual box I picked up from a good friend who sadly had an accident late last year and decided to break his Supra for parts. Like a Phoenix from the ashes, I plan to honour that cars memory by using the gearbox to future proof my car ready for the hike in horsepower down the road. Gearbox comes with clutch, flywheel, front propshaft and all the bolts etc. SRD will provide the other bits I’ll need. Got a small list of jobs for Lee and the team to tackle when the car goes in: 1. Install V161 and supporting mods including LS400 series 2 rear diff which will be stripped down, cleaned and fitted with a new OS Giken LSD. 2. Fit replacement Yaris manual steering wheel. Current Yaris wheel has paddles I don’t need anymore. 3. Fit replacement Rev counter dial face in the main cluster as I’m losing the tiptronic screen that shows gear info. 4. Fit sound deadening to new manual transmission tunnel and footwells. 5. Fit new manual pedal cover set. 6. Fit and wire fog light in rear diffuser mesh. 7. Fabricate new servo assist arm to front number plate flipper. Current plastic one is useless and isn’t up to the job. 8. Repair/weld OSR inner to outer rear sill and weatherproof sills properly. 9. Fit Fluidampr crank pulley. Hopefully next year we can get the single turbo, fuelling and Hypertune fitted. Year after will be engine rebuild and then we should be able to turn up the boost. I’ll keep you guys posted and let you know when I hear anything from Lee and the team. Looking forward to my first drive after the manual is fitted. Cheers all. Pete
  2. Looks great, nice choice and looks like it’s been wrapped really nicely as well. Any more plans for the car this year or just a case of using it and enjoying every second after your decade of not having it to make you smile.
  3. I love the fact you didn’t even try to get away after setting off the neighbours car alarm. Nice exhaust note in fairness, and I know the microphone might dull the sound a bit, but didn’t sound that loud to me? Maybe the neighbour should turn down their alarm sensitivity a bit? Car is hybernating for a bit now at least so that should make them happy.
  4. Hi and Welcome, Nice Supra you had before, guessing you may already know prices for these cars have gone up a fair bit over the past few years, so depending on what spec you’re after you may want to sit down before you see the prices. Best bet is to give us a clue on what you’re after and what you’re budget is, be prepared to wait or pay a premium if you’re after say a TT6 manual or single that’s been done right. Whilst we don’t actually know what people are paying for the cars at the moment, you only need to check say Autotrader or eBay to see what people are asking for them at the moment. If you do decide to buy you’re way back in then my advice is stay put as don’t think it’s going to get any cheaper as these beasts get older and harder to find in top condition. Very best of luck whatever you decide to do. Cheers. Pete
  5. Welcome. Nice looking Supra, let us know if you need any help putting the interior back together, had mine all apart fairly recently so happy to help if I can. Best of luck and nice purchase once again. Cheers. Pete
  6. I’d say powder coated personally, but no doubt others may go painting. I’ve always heard powder coating on all the restoration shows I watch.
  7. Been there, done that mate. Last garage was a small single so I had to drive in then get out through the boot! Lol. Thank you kindly, been a long time in the making, but it’s finally a reality. Yep, I liked the photos from the club calendar and didn’t want to throw them out so bought some frames and hey presto, nice Supra wall art. Thank you Keith, means a lot mate.
  8. Hey Folks, More of a garage update, thanks to Elite Modular Flooring I now have my awesome Swisstrax floor fitted. Finishes the garage so well in my opinion. Few shots empty, with the Supra back inside and with all my garage units and equipment that had to go in our dining room much to Mrs. P’s annoyance! Lol. Been a long day hampered by rain but it’s looking the part now at least. If anyone is looking to get their garage floor done let me know as Elite can hook you up with a discount as well.
  9. Hi mate. Funnily enough I used them only the other day and have to say they are holding up really well. Even the MOT tester I used complimented them and said he’d seen them before on Skylines but not a Supra. They do the job and protect the sills so I’m still happy with my purchase. I know some weren’t so convinced, but it’s a personal choice at the end of the day. Put it this way my sills are still nice and straight and I’ve not had any issues with the pucks or clearance etc. Hope that helps. Cheers for now. Pete
  10. Exciting times Mike, look forward to following this epic build mate, always good to see a major project get underway and knowing you this won’t disappoint! Best of luck and look forward to seeing the updates as and when. Cheers. Pete
  11. 1. mark blythe x1 2. Ellis x3 3. Suprakeith x1 4. Ian & Jackie x3 ( can we collect from NEC?) 5. mwilkinson X2 6. Bradh_15 7. Peter P x1
  12. Very nice Krimi! I’m also probably going with the same Garrett G35-1050 when I go single, so keen to see how you get on and what power levels you get. Looking forward to the updates my friend.
  13. As do I, really are great quality. Highly recommended.
  14. Can I make a recommendation on seatbelts, get your OEM ones re-webbed by this chap. I bought some eBay specials to replace mine and they were frankly awful. The re-webbed ones I’m now using are bang on and I was even able to get red webbing so really happy with how they turned out. Not sure which aftermarket ones you got but I’d stick to factory units personally as mine were always jamming and even started to fray at the edges after minimal use. https://www.facebook.com/ogreteam
  15. Very nice mate. Having had mine painted I can confirm the hardening/wait period before you can either PPF or ceramic coat it. Worth waiting as you don’t want to screw it up and have to do it all again! My bodywork took closer to a year so yours was still done in a quarter of the time mine was! lol. Looking sharp.
  16. That weird stuff in the water lines looks suspiciously like mixed oil and water to me. Similar to what you see in the oil cap if you have a head gasket failure. Won’t be that, but does look like oil/water mixed.
  17. No worries mate, glad it worked out mate. Very cruel wind up mind as personally becoming a Dad was best day of my life. You’re time will come with the right woman when you’re ready dude.
  18. Lol, surely that depends on whether the baby is yours or not? If not then that could be a relief as she is someone else’s headache and they are locked in for at least 18yrs of hell.
  19. Completely agree and Shervin is a real expert who did an amazing job for me. Can’t thank him enough as it was a real mess that most people would have run away from the moment they saw how bad it was. He just rolled up his sleeves and got stuck in. I am extremely lucky it didn’t cause a fire which after all the effort and hard work getting the car sorted body wise would have been devastating. Luckliy it’s all sorted now and everything is working as it should.
  20. Video showing the remote start in action is too large. This photo cheered me up no end as it’s been a while since I’ve seen the dash lit up.
  21. Morning All, Time for a small but important update. Some will know I had a bit of an issue with my wiring a couple of months back after fitting the new flocked dash. Basically the instrument cluster wasn’t lighting up when I turned on the headlights using the stalk. Figured maybe I’d forgotten to connect a plug or hadn’t pushed a plug in properly so I took it all apart and checked. Nothing obvious and I checked all of the solder points on the cluster itself, but nothing was burnt up or out of place. Next check was the fuse box in the drivers footwell and sure enough one of the 10A fuses had blown. Fitted a new fuse and tried again, still no joy and alarmingly I suddenly had smoke coming out from the footwell area and a nasty smell of burning wires. I quickly turned off the lights, ignition and disconnected the battery. I then checked the loom at the fuse box location in the drivers side footwell and found this. As a temporary fix I swapped out the new fuse which hadn’t blown oddly for the old one so in my mind I’d isolated the issue at least. I had plans to install a new Clifford alarm as car came with a very old and dated Laserline system that was showing its age. Thankfully I met Shervin who has done a few Supra’s now and is a fellow owner and enthusiast. We talked through the options and settled on a Clifford Concept 650 mk3 being the latest unit with intelistart and the window closure module. I explained the issue with the dash cluster and he agreed to look at that for me as well. I also wanted to swap out the remote function for the front flip license plate and fit a switched version instead. I drove the car to him which was Central London and a bloody white knuckle ride for me with all the hazards associated with driving in and around London, but I got there eventually. Left the car in his capable hands and got the tube back to London Bridge so I could catch my usual train home. He started off with the alarm and ripped out the old system and set about fitting the new one. He was very thorough, talking me through points as he went and sending photos and updates each day along with a couple of videos which was a nice touch. Next up was the wiring issue and cluster fault. What he found when he opened up the loom was frankly frightening for both of us. If you look closely at the photos you’ll see how it wasn’t just the ground wire that was damaged, other wires also melted due to the heat and it was a real mess. How the car ran still with no issues other than the cluster not illuminating is a mystery, think I was incredibly lucky. Shervin agreed to clear his appointments (been doing car stereos, alarms and wiring for 25+yrs and is in my opinion one of the best in the business) and spent the next couple of days putting it right and replacing all the burnt wires for new and wrapping the whole loom. I know it took him an age but the end result is amazing and he didn’t pull my pants down whatsoever on cost given it was a lot more work than either of us had anticipated. Alarm is now all done and wiring is all good and working spot on. Likewise flip plate is now switched and apart from some adjustments to stop it retracting when on the move (annoying isn’t the word) things are working spot on. Collected the car after work on Tuesday night and drove back in torrential rain which around the North Circular was real brown trouser stuff, but I took it really slow and got home safe in the end. Huge shout out to Shervin and I can’t recommend him enough for all things wiring or alarm/stereo related. Lovely chap who being a Supra owner and enthusiast knows what he’s doing and doesn’t exploit you like other car Sparky’s I could name that charge the earth but don’t know our cars whatsoever. Car should be at Brands for Go Japan on Sunday 25th September so keep an eye out if you’re there and come say hello. Car is due a service with SRD on Monday 26th and they are going to also swap my battery out for a new Exide Premium 005 to replace the frankly tiny J-Spec battery. Will need to fit larger terminals, but will be well worth it in my view. Hoping funds will be there next year so I can get on with the bigger stuff like the gearbox swap, new diff setup, single conversation and fitting the beautiful Hypertune intake manifold. Also the new fuelling setup which Lee thinks will solve the cold start issue that is still not working properly. Does mean the intelistart doesn’t work for now as car cuts out still when it tries to drop the idle, so won’t be using that feature till it’s all sorted.
  22. Shocked this hasn’t gone, absolute bargain for someone with that spec. Shame I wasn’t just starting my search for another Supra or I would have snapped this up. Spent more on mine and still need to spend a load more on it. Best of luck mate, should surely find a buyer at that price. All the best, Pete
  23. Hey Guys, So not much to report in terms of meaningful updates unfortunately, share price is still on the low side so not selling those yet. Hopefully things pick up and I can sell 2 lots early next year for a good price, if so then it’s single conversion, fuelling upgrades, Hypertune intake manifold, 8-speed ISF gearbox conversion and rebuilt Lexus LS400 series 2 rear diff rebuilt with OS Giken internals. Couple of photos from Saturday in the meantime. Cheers for now. Pete
