My Supra - Progress so far, next steps and build thread
Peter P replied to Peter P's topic in mkiv Supra Projects
Lol, guess it depends on your perspective mate. Wheels are almost £4k, so not too bad I guess when you think these keep them on the car. Sure there are cheaper options, but it’s the small details for me that make a build. I paid more from memory for the ones I had on my ISF. -

Thanks! Lol. Not cheap, but they came from Japan and they are genuine Work so wasn’t expecting them to be. Just under £120 from memory which isn’t too bad. Got them through Nengun Performance as Driftworks as the official Work U.K. distributor were out of stock. -

Hey Guys, So couple of small updates. My new wheel nuts finally arrived today. Went for a nice simple black RS Work nut which should suit the Work Meister’s when they finally arrive. On that subject, Driftworks have given me an ETA for the wheels to be built in Japan by mid-May. If you then add the 5-6 weeks for shipping, I reckon they will be in my possession sometime in early July. It’s not an exact science given the variables involved, but hopefully they will be worth the wait. In other news I ordered my TwinZ rear diffuser last night from the States. Think this should finish things off nicely from an exterior perspective. May have it painted in body colour, or it could stay black. I wanted carbon, but not something they offer at the moment sadly. Good weekend all. -
Really?! I was told 6-8 weeks! If it’s months I’m not going to be very happy! I ordered the Work Meister S1 3-piece.
-
May have lost them and been replaced? Found a few ‘extra’ clips and screws when we tore mine down at the bodyshop! Lol.
-
This, they attach the under bonnet insulation to the bonnet. The insulation gets brittle over time and due to heat, the retaining clips come loose.
-
It’s never boring to receive parts for your Supra bud. Im still waiting on a load of stuff including my lug nuts which have at least left Japan now. Wheels according to my Driftworks account haven’t reached production stage yet, so God knows when they will turn up! Lol. You will get their my friend, these things take time if you want them done just right. If you didn’t have the small bits, you wouldn’t be able to finish it.

Hey All, so small update from Matt this week. He’s been busy working on getting the rear bumper to sit and fit better. Not sure photos do this justice, but I can assure you there’s been some great work here, and the fit looks a lot better than it did before. Matt also noticed the support bar and some of the retaining clips are missing, in fairness, Lee told me about this when the car first went to SRD, so I’d already planned to have them fitted when the car was next with SRD, but that was before the quarter panel debacle and the decision to do a full metal respray! Lol. Lee has kindly offered to post out the parts so I can drop these along with the new fuel tank straps and Whifbitz carbon fuel tank cover off for Matt to fit. He’s also looking to get the mirrors and some other bits painted soon, just need my new wheels and also my new seals and rear quarter glasses to arrive from Paul/TCB. Hopefully won’t be too long. Good weekend folks. -

Thanks. Thank you. Rest assured I’ll keep the updates flowing as and when I get them. Thanks mate. Thanks, that makes two of us mate, so looking forward to getting the car back it’s untrue! Thanks. Thanks mate. More photos and updates to follow, hopefully not too much longer till I hear from Matt/ M H Bodywork. -
Hi Folks, I need some help fitting these AMG paddle shifters to my new/old MR2 MK3 steering wheel. my car is a tiptronic Supra, so I have all the wiring needed, but drilling the holes into the donor wheel is beyond my skills. I tried to do it on the first donor wheel, and failed miserably. I’m now looking to buy a carbon version of this wheel at far greater cost, so need an engineer or someone more capable than me to drill the holes to secure the paddles to the wheel. I’ve seen this done by others on here, but given the stakes, I’d prefer to have someone who knows what they are doing tackle the drilling as I don’t want to wreck this one as well. Obviously I’m happy to pay someone for their time and skills, and I have done the work on the plastic surround to accept the paddles, plus I can do the wiring and swap with my OEM wheel, just the drilling and fixing of the paddles that freaks me out. As I found out the hard way, only get one shot at this, so any recommendations would be great. I’m based in Kent, but can travel within reason once rules allow. Thanks for your time. Pete

Nice! Can you PM me price/where to order please mate, will want to do mine at some point fairly soon. Cheers. Pete

Damn! That’s a shame mate, was hoping things would go well for you, but better to catch it early I guess before any damage was done. Know it means more delays, but it’ll get there fella, and it will be worth the wait I’m sure.
-
Pointless - why bother to advertise and get people’s hopes up only to make it so ridiculously priced no one will use it?! Don’t understand??
-
You’re still closer than me Brad! Waiting on my wheels from Japan and also my lug nuts. Like you, have the tyres stored in the garage, but no sign of my wheels yet. Hopefully not too much longer for us both mate!

Thanks. Thanks mate, has been a true labour of love more so for Matt, but the results will make that extra work and effort worthwhile I’m sure. I’ll be sure to keep this thread updated as we go. Thanks Mike, so pleased with the colour, should look pretty special when it’s all done. mats are stunning mate, so pleased with the quality, service, price. Nice to find something that is arguably better than OEM for a good price. The fact they got here so quickly from Australia was a real plus as well. Thanks. I tend to agree with you. Given most of these cars are now a good 20+ years old, finding new/old stock is next to impossible, and prices for good used sets are pretty high. Here you get arguably better quality alternatives that tip their cap to the originals, but go that bit further on using better materials that are hand finished in a way that you have to admire. The whole process around these was flawless, easy to order, great communication and surprisingly fast turnaround. I’m really happy with my purchase and I know these will look great when I get them fitted. -

Afternoon All, Had some more photos and an update from Matt today, he’s finished painting both doors, just need flatting and polishing, but these already look so good compared to how they were before. Love this colour and that’s two more big pieces done and dusted. -

I know what you mean mate, thing is you need tyres, you need these little bits doing so it finishes things off. Just done an update on my build for the new mats and boot carpet, not sexy per se, but I love them! It’s the subtle bits that make or break a build in my opinion. Keep the updates coming and best of luck fella.

Evening All, So having ordered the new boot mat from JL Design & Fab (based in Adelaide, Australia) back on the 13/02, I was really pleased with how it turned out. Quality is spot on,and I really like the dimpled/non-slip backing, the Supra Pure Sport badging and the thick pile. What really surprised me was it was on my doorstop on the 23/02, so 10 days total from Australia! Excuse the few white cat hairs, having to store parts wherever I can until I get the car back, so spare bed was the best place, but cat sleeps on it! Lol. I decided to grab a set of the matching floor mats which you can order as two (fronts only) or four. I went for the full set and I placed the order on the 24/02, these arrived today (09/03). I had emails the whole way through, order received, order dispatched, arrived, with Customs, out for delivery, delivered. The mats cost me £190 all in, the boot carpet was £132. Might have saved a couple quid if I ordered them together, but for £322 delivered with shipping, duty, VAT all included, I think these are a great deal. These will really help carry the new look and feel over to the inside and should finish things off really well. Hope you like them and do check out the site if you want a set.
